For getting a new high level job, I have this advice:
Find a striking dummy, remove all skills off your hotbar, add them back one by one as you use them on the dummy, make sure you read tooltips and rearrange the hotbar to your liking.
Should take you 15 minutes or so to get comfy with a lvl 60 GNB

As you progress through the MSQ, even if you overlevel things early on, you'll typically hit a "wall" before you complete each expansion's content. Usually somewhere in the X7 range.

You could be level 80, but if you don't do the Heavensward MSQ, you are not at ALL going into that content

Tanks, Samurai, Dragoon, Monk: Strength
Ninja, Ranged Physical: Dexterity
Healer: Mind
Mages: Intelligence
For weapons, Weapon Damage is the most important stat. For armors/accessories, Main Stat (listed above) beats everything else.
This is generally very straightforward in game, as higher item level gear should have higher main stats / weapon damage. However, for gears with HQ and NQ variations (this is crafted gears only), only HQ gears have the correct stat matching their item level.
