new grindania is the worst in this
ill see how that looks instead
so is Ill meg
my goodness
i love the area but its flickering all over the place lol
yeah, i turned off grass to save my eyes
feels like ive been spoiled
this never bothered me when i ran the game with 30FPs on my shitty laptop
@keen storm white scrip gear is good enough for ishgard restoration
https://ffxivteamcraft.com/gearset/QAl4fYbbLyxeR9QySyyF
@keen storm here's a budget (sorta) set to follow if you want some better statcaps
@keen storm White scrip gear is good enough for IR turn ins, yeah. Might need food to boost your CP a bit but it's more than sufficient.
yeah
restoration has some low requirements though so food should supplement just fine
when standing still. perfect
Love every bit of the graphics for it
but once you move, disco time :D
yeah, its mostly the grass, it has something do with the alpha textures or whatever
so turning off grass helps a lot, but then yeah, no grass so
ok so many informations thanks 3: ~
ill check gridania how much it has changed.
you can also try downscaling if you have a beefy pc
I got quite the beefy pc
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1wj7Y990MQmNqpQH7hDn8yguT-l71G-a2P0xT6u0VnrM/edit
also a bare minimums meldset @keen storm
not sure what you mean with downscaling though
you run it on a higher resolution then your monitor
it scales it up then scales it down so it kinda simulates better AA
hello?
ive literally just brought the starting thing on steam
ive never played ff before or jrpgs
im kinda nervous
but i hear if i love to be healer this game is great
why would you be nervous?
Join the green DPS gang
i have no idea what to expect
and i dont want to mess up
and get a role i dont like or something
and have to start over
Did you do the trial version before buying?
You can be every job
you can get all roles on one character
and at level 50 you can even reroll your race
No need for alts here
i didnt see a trial verison on steam :-( but its cool
this is a story heavy game so you're going to be playing alone for most of it
besides the dungeons
it's final fantasy
i just looked up videos of the classes and picked the one i thought looked the coolest
theyre all good
Goodness, these ARR relics look like they take a long time to finish.
They are grindu
Should I wait til I'm 80 to do it casually?
Cause books are the worst
I'm waiting on the final Fate to finish my first book.
i dont have to learn anything prior to play the story right
no
Higher level you are the easier it is to do
why would you
game will spoonfeed you stuff a little bit at a time
and we're always here to help if you are overwhelmed
I will admit there's a ton of lore I wish had been a bit more front-loaded in the story.
@lavish portal nah i knew nothing about ff before playing
I'm still a bit confused on how all the magic system differ from one another.
systems*
wym differ
Where do i go to start the quest chain to unlock stormblood raid?
I haven't done all the jobs yet, so maybe it's better explained in some quests I haven't done.
Kugane
kugane
which raids?
npc is Keiten
normal or alliance?
for the alliance
Or rhalgars for omega
@lavish portal the game is designed for people who have never played an MMORPG before, you'll be fine 🙂
otherwise its rhalgrs iirc for oemga
yes it is
for the alliance
@little swift you cant say that here. go to wow discord
floor the horde
theres like 3 healers right

scholar and astrologian become available later
conjurer becomes white mage right?
yes
question is there any new egi for summoner coming out any time soon?
none have been announced
scholar sounds like my dream mmo job
healer AND pets?
yes pls
how long does it take to get to that?
scholar is super fun and if you want to dps as well summoner shares levels with scholar
lvl 30 doesnt take too long to get
how many lvls is there in total?
80
i see
you get to 50 pretty fast then it slows down a bit in my experience
is the goal of sam to build up to iaijutsu and also build kenki to use in one of the 3 attacks?
cancel service acc means delete it?
@boreal gyro should be
@remote lintel kenki is used to dish out additional offensive Ability and buff your iaijitsu
ah
At lvl 52-62, you are not building kenki very fast, so it is primarily used for iaijitsu
62 onwards, you will generate kenki much faster
whats enhanced enpi
what egi should i mainly use as summoner btw
ifrit single target
ifrit for single target dps, garuda for aoe
hey guys where is guild recruitment
titan if you need the shield to survive/burst aoe
@remote lintel increases the potency of Enpi. More to compensate having to be away from the boss
hello all, I actually bought the game quite a while ago but didn’t have to time to get into it, but now that I do I started a new charcater, and I have an idea on how combat works and mechanics and all that, but would appreciate maybe some tips and tricks type stuff?
we can help if you specify a class
Thaumaturge
Ah, I simply meant I didn’t have any particular questions, just more so things I can do to make things go along more smoothly?
Only level six, started about an hour ago
msq gives most of your exp
make sure you know that ice spells regen your mana and fire spells deplete it
Msq?
Yeah, do your Main Scenario Quest
and your job quest. If you look at the top left of your screen
main story quest
Ah gotcha, lots of acronyms
There should be an UI with
on it, it is used track your story and job quests
When you get a new skill, read their tooltips
Well I did buy a shadowbringers upgrade pass or whatever apparently, because I do own a level 70 death knight I never remember having
I’m assuming I bought it after I originally bought the game

And XIV is a game where skill at low level is still used at higher level, so don't remove skills off your hotbar
High level skills don't replace low level skills, so read your tooltips and work out what they do, if you are unsure with the skills, feel free to drop by and ask questions here
I did try to play said level 70 character and had quite no idea what I was doing and figured It’d be easier to just start anew
I got a basic understanding of the death knights abilities like grit and the two bars but I meant more story wise
did you story skip?
Jumping into end game didn’t seem wise anyhow I couldn’t tell you why I bought it originally
Apparently

I bought the collectors edition right after shadowbringers came out
my friend is having issues launching ffxiv, anyone know how to fix it? Like when they press "play" nothing happens
Then I must’ve bought the story skip/jump to level 70 package
well you can replay the story using new game+ feature
which if you like a good story I recommend you do that
Instead of using the new character?
yeye
I mean at the same time it is an extra 50$ I spent on that other character so I don’t want them to just sit forever
alts can actually come in handy if you plan on doing endgame content
so they won't be totally useless
Ah
I see
At the same time I do and don’t want to kinda do end game content like dungeons and the such
I want to expierence the story like it was “supposed to” but I also do want to do endgame content, but I would definitely need some tutelage when it comes to the death knight
there's like "regular" endgame content and then there's like hardcore endgame content
it's totally optional
you don't have to do any hardcore raiding or whatever if you don't want to
Hm
Well I’m not interested in building the perfect character with the exact loot I need and such Yknow? I do just want to have fun. So mainly I’m wondering what would be more enjoyable? Finding a few people who can teach me and do end game content or to just ride out the main story content with the new character?
you should do the main story content first
because that leads up to the endgame stuff
and helps you take baby steps there
Anybody know if the shadowbringers song on the main menu cinematic is on spotify?
@frozen cove shadowbringers album isn't on spotify yet
oh ok! Thank you for letting me know otherwise I wouldve drove myself crazy
My BTN just hit 50 and up until now, I've just been updating its gear every 5 levels through vendor gear
Is this okay to continue, or are there alternatives any of you would recommend?
No equivalent to Poetics gear for gatherers, is there?
do we know at all when itll release? 😮
slightly unrelated there’s a gun blade class?
Is it a dps or a tank?
Tank
tank
Comes at lv60
oh
!faq shbjobs
Shadowbringers Expansion Jobs: Gunbreaker (Tank) and Dancer (Ranged DPS). These jobs start at level 60 and require ownership of the Shadowbringers Expansion and a disciple of war or magic job at level 60.
Job Unlock Locations:
Gunbreaker - Gods' Quiver Bow at New Gridania (11,11), quest name is "The Makings of a Gunbreaker".
Dancer - Eager Lominsan at Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks (9,12), quest name is "Shall We Dance".
Is it “good?”
Yes
define "good"
@tropic summit thats perfectly fine to continue with. For lv50 there's not much that's easy to get except the forager hat and main hand from grand company seals. generally easier to just push to 51 and get the archaeoskin set. for 60 you can use yellow scrips to buy scrip gear or just push to 61 to get teh vendor gear, 70 same deal (though arguably the 70 scrip gear is probably better than buying vendor gear since it'll last you a while)
that’s kinda what I meant
all classes are good
I don’t really know what defines if a class is good or not
they all are
Everything is good
!faq meta
Ah, it’s more so a knowing how to play them? Instead of some classes just being better then others?
Is it possible to glamour a piece of equipped gear, to another piece of gear that belongs to a different job?
There is no one job in XIV where everyone will yell at you for playing it
Glamour is role lockrd
If you can wear it then you can glamour it
Ah, sad
Main thing I was reading is that there’s a desperate need for tanks? Is that true?
amazing there is no meta jobs and then in blue click here for the best jobs in the game xD
Some gears are marked as ALL Classes even when they are crafters, so these gears can be glamour
@twilit arch 👌👌👌 Thank you, I'll look into scrips (from Restoration, right?) but it's comforting to know vendoring all the way is viable
@quasi summit click it
there are more dps players than there are tanks/healers
:)))
@royal loom there are more dps classes than tank or healer classes in the game, so naturally there are more dps players. which means tanks and healers are in higher demand.
that trolling
Ah I see
New players lean to picking Dps because they think it is less responsibility, and there are more DPS classes to choose from
no not from restoration, i'm talking about yellow scrips for the house of splendors in mor dhona/idyllshire/rhaglr's reach/eulmore @tropic summit
10 Dps vs 3 healer / 4 tanks
if you haven't yet, there should be a quest in mor dhona to unlock collectables and the mor dhona house of splendor
that picture using lightning magic yet there is no lightning element based class 😦
I mean, in the other mmos ive dabbled in (which I’ve never fully “committed” to one) I usually would end up playing a tank or healer
You are the outlier
why would you have a class based on only 1 element
why not 😛
because that's boring
Elements in this game is flavor
and you can have more
Don't expect Pokémon elemental advantage here
^
this is final fantasy not elemental fantasy

Some final fantasy games... Actually most of them has elemental advantage
But this game doesn't
Well if I’m entirely honest I’m kinda wanting to see where I could go with the level 70. Maybe try to pick up gunbreaker since it seems more interesting then the dark knight to me
except in eureka
you can pick up gunbreaker on your dark knight character
since they're lvl 70
I could just. Go through the story at my pace with the new character and kinda ease into actual co op and dungeons with the level 70?
The lvl 70 job doesn't give you any advantages in dungeons
Right. I just mean kinda jump between the two
ehhhhh
Is that a bad idea?
Your level will be synced down to the dungeon
also during solo instances
i'm biased to the story and jumping between your lvl 70 and low level will spoil some things so i'm kinda eh to it
but if you really want to
I mean if I’m entirely honest I got spoiled on the story already
Of shadowbringers at least
wouldent she have to do the story anyway to unlock the dungeons?
she has 2 characters
^
did her butt pop out like this for everyone or is it just me
tbh i never watched any of the cutscenes
is there like a video where i can watch the story
not in game
cut scenes take too long
@royal loom being spoiled for shadowbringers doesn't spoil the entire story
True
there's still way more to it
I have heard the story is uh
like all the other expansions
large
very
I mean, the youtube videos of the story are going to be long
hm
Well would just doing endgame content on the level 70 ruin the story expierence for me?
i just want a concise story lmao 😦
@royal loom depends on how much you've been spoiled for shb but i'd say yes
there's recaps of ARR and HW pinned in #archived-lore-spoilers but nothing for SB and Shb afaik
That’s kind of what I meant by splitting them between main story and co op
Just kinda have a character that progresses through the story normally and a character for end game content
why not just work your way up to endgame content on your new character
well I’ll be entirely honest I have time but not that much time
hmm
I’m shipping out to the army here in a few weeks and I’m still working
So I have more free time then usual but, not enough for that
i supposed if you like
skipped all the cutscenes in the endgame content
then you won't really be spoiled
honestly your lvl 70 is going to be the more difficult of the two to get a hang of, msq story progression also allows you a pace to learn your class and how the game functions as a new player, cause it is very unforgicing at times when it comes to rotations and mechanics.
if thats what you want to do
Hm
also what voca said
I do have a general understanding of the mechanics but I’ve also not have played with anyone else and just been a solo player
the endgame content can take a lot of coordination, especially if youre a tank
it would be very difficult for a new player to just hop into
low level mechanics and higher level ones are two very different things.
Like, I have basic understanding of the dark knight but I’m sure if I joined a random group for a dungeon I would get booted out for imcomptence
basic understanding isn't going to get you through endgame
doesnt hurt to just watch a guide on that dungeon
yeah but watching a guide and then doing it as a new player will still be hard
I mean, I realize the game is complicated but isn’t my job to just draw aggro and balance debuffs of the Enemy with personal buffs?
the advantage of doing msq and unlocking dungeons while you go is that the difficulty of those mechanics increased gradually and allows you a learning curve.
Which is where things like Grit come into play,
youre also supposed to make sure the boss in the right spot
grit is your tank stance
@twilit arch Ohh I see, I see. Thanks for that info
turn it on when tanking
@royal loom in the endgame dungeons a lot of the boss have tank-specific attacks, so the tank needs to position themselves in a way that doesn't get the rest of the group cleaved
profit
Ah
it's not just a simple tank and spank
knowing what the tank buster is, knowing where to position, theres lots to it.
for lower level dungeons just make sure the boss is not facing the group
^
what are different ways to obtain better gear while leveling up?
Sorry for all the annoying questions, Im just eager to enjoy everything the game has to offer but also don’t really have the time to progress through it regularly
it's fine
Not to shadowbringers at least
Move the boss in such a way that upcoming mechanics can be handled comfortably etc
i just don't think immediately jumping into endgame content is feasible
i agree
¯_(ツ)_/¯
@leaden ginkgo amazing
soltie that's not what shes asking
@static terrace if it’s your first time through the story it will give you more than enough gear
No no I understand lol
what are different ways to obtain better gear while leveling up?
@static terrace dungeon drop, getting it from your GC (below level 50), trading them with tomestone (lvl 50 and up), MSQ reward, buying from NPC
oof youre right
Dungeon, reward, NPC works all the way to max level
Yo, so I have a question: If I purchased the game through steam, is it possible to get the collectors edition upgrade items still? Like I see the option on mogstation still, but despite having shadowbringers it also says I don't have any of the expansions on the same page of the mogstation so not sure if that would throw things off
The 3 others are dead because they stood with the tank when the boss cleave
Don't. Buy. On. Steam.
^
Please don't say that
Buying on steam isn’t the end of the world.
@crimson wind Alas you are very right, but it's too late.
oh I’m curious as to why
you can always buy the digital deluxe upgrade on Mogstation
Main screen upon logging in, right side of the table
thank you
Newbie question here but can I visit a preferred server and get bonus exp there??
20 bucks per expansion/thing
@cinder patio take a screenshot of your mogstation, the table with your expansions
@royal loom why you don't buy on steam?
No, Delirium
Mhm
@vapid scarab no
Doesn't work that way
because steam doesn't have many sales
The basic TL;DR: is that steam licenses and non-steam can’t mix, so if you buy on steam you have to buy the expansions on steam
when do limit breaks become relevant? i see it in my general section but ive never used one yet
@vapid scarab you have to make a new character on a preferred server for the exp bonus
Lvl 30+
@agile turret whenever you're in a 4 person or 8 person party
Ah
in dungeons
@royal loom when you buy the game on steam you can ONLY buy further expansions on steam, which are often full price and don't go on sale
I’m not on pc so I’m not worried about that, was just curious
thats more specific
It is not like expansion comes out every 6 months
@warped nest
Steam isn't the end of the world. Do note local pricing can mean it tends to be cheaper than SE or other storefronts
Yes I do have steam.
navigating this layout on console was my biggest challenge for awhile
i like steam cause steam wallet
Look up
that image doesn't show whether they have steam or not @warped nest
I purchased the game via steam and have used steam wallet a few times
Upgrading to Collector’s is done in the “Additional Services” section
@obsidian patio yeah just was wondering if they are compatible with steam or not. Like if they counted as an expansion (which must be purchased via steam) or just account items (which can be purchased on mogstation)
Didn't want to buy one of them only for it to not work
Afaik the digital upgrade on mogstation doesn't care whether you're steam, non steam or ps4
It has nothing to do with steam
Digital upgrading shouldn’t care about platform.
It is an account thing

Ah, kk thanks!
its just flagging your account for collector
Also, you only have to buy collectors edition once and it applies to all platforms
I bought Collectors on PS4 and Standard on Steam
Still see my collector stuff on Steam
Wait, is the game cross play enabled?
noice, sounds good then
yes
Yes
Everyone plays on the same servers
Oh, nice
Yeah I play with a friend whose on PS4 quite regularly
all clients connect to the same servers and instances yes
There is no PS4-Aether and PC-Aether
The only feature that's platform specific is seeing someone's PSN ID in game
Just Aether data center
it is bizzare to me aa it seems like on ps4 it’s more so like, just running the Pc client instead of like, its own game
If that makes sense
The PS4 is just a high end 2015 PC
I'm more impressed it ran on the PS3 for at least 3-4 years
this game is that old huh
They have PS4 specific stuff, on PS4, your TouchPad works like a mouse
Not very well
But it is occasionally useful
I’ve noticed
I don’t try to use it in the heat of combat
For this game, it is good enough for questing
I’ve owned a PS4 since launch and to this day I could not till you how the motion controls work
Either way I believe I’ve drifted off topic, I apologize
I’ll stick with the new character for now, but If I wanted to jump onto the high level character could I expect to get some assistance with at least attempting to learn how to be an endgame tank?
now the decison
which grand company
they are all so nice
I hate to let them down
hm
Major differences between them is location and their glamour outfits
adders
@leaden ginkgo Flames. Ul'dah is the most well rounded of the three cities. The GC is right by the aether plaza, and you can easily just teleport to the center of the shop
Maelstrom, red and black
Adders, yellow
Immortal Flame, blue and black?
Anyone know why Kupo Bot won’t work for registering my character? They’re on lodestone but even if I include my ID the bot just ignores my command
Hm interesting
@royal loom if you dont have much time to play, just play the lvl skipped character. you can learn how to play/tank from 70>80. if you really dont care about the story then skipping is w/e
Is Unmend good?
unmend is ranged?
Yes
shit
@clever cave thing is with that I’ll differently need at least one person to well, teach me what to do lmao
someone can teach you how to properly tank in 1 instance easily
yeah but you also have to learn each individual fight
yea that part comes with time and experience
If a few of you are willing to well... train me with a lack of a better word I have nothing against that
ah guys how much healing does determination increase
!faq stats
Just cycle your defensive cooldowns
And you're good
ah thanks
I’m assuming the healing multiplier is the same as the damage multiplier as it only shows one column
det on healing only ups the healing on yourself iirc
Thats tenacity iirc
@royal loom https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0LWBk7HH2dU you can take a look at this and see if you want to do this kind of content
::Final Fantasy XIV - Eden's Verse: Iconoclasm Raid Guide!
A quick overview of the new raid boss, The Idol of Darkness, guaranteed to get you through it!
Watch live on twitch: twitch.tv/mtqcapture!
Questions? Comments? Drop me a line and I'll get back to you!
FINAL FANTAS...
this is the endgame content
Could you do me a solid and dm that to me?
Cause it is
I want to do the hardest one first
you cannot
You cant
yo have to unlock them in order
then the savage ones lmao
from e1-e8
I want to die
Savage is pretty strict with its rules
the hardest ones are savage mode
In all my playing I’ve yet to die once
lol
funny
you can't die to fall damage otherwise
I meant I want to see in person why so many people call this game so difficult
my connection is completely normal, yet only now I get a 4 second “lag-out” where nothing happens due to my internet? while everything else works fine?
I’m not denying that is I’ve just yet to see it
the game slowly amps up the difficulty
Question: when I finish PoD level 60, do I need to logout or how do I leave so that I can farm these levels?
I just saw that my whole party disappeared after the boss was beat lol
a lot of the problems with early content come with the fact that many people greatly outscale content in ilvl so they do the maximum damage possible in a given instance
And as previously mentioned I don’t have the 100 hours of free time to get there naturally
it ends up trivializing mechanics
Ohhh nice
Where is the second part of Eden?
Ty
In the empty
No
Mord souq
Mord souq
Area and village
more soup
just wait til you get to more donuts
either way I thank you all that have helped me tonight, if you’d wish to play together in the future just send me a quick dm now so we’re easier acquainted. It was nice meeting you all
im going to hop over to a much simpler dumb dumb brain game before I head to bed.
o/
guys for speed level 2 unlocks, we need like 250 hunt points... Some hunts give 4 points and 1 - 10, that's ridiculous? or I'm missing something?
do your weekly B rank hunts
the dailys give very little
also keep an eye out for S and A ranks
they give 100/kill
join a hunt linkshell on your server
okay, to join one we don't need to be max lv no?
you'll know you're in the area of an A or S rank when you see in the chat "You sense the presence of a powerful mark"
if you're looking for allied seals probably not
when do I use the kenki attacks on sam
o thanks
I heard you like spam shinten until you have a little kenki left and then u do something?
use the big hit thingy
guren?
"doubling thing"
Kaiten
"doubling"
start wherever you like @leaden ginkgo
i don't remember all the moonrune names i just remember what they do
consider a preferred world though
Kenki attacks are weaved in with normal attacks, while watching your own kenki bar and make sure it does not top off or get too low
what level 1 training dummies are there available for housing?
so I just sprinkle them throughout my combos?
ok so I thought I had to get to 80 first for || Grenoldt in Temperance since it was locked, but im 80 now and still can't. It says "Complete any role quest lines available at the Wandering Stairs in the Crystarium, then return. What is this? the !+ quests? ||
the blue ones
Yeah, but do more than a few of Senei rather than Shinten sometimes
at the universalis market
you have to complete the full chain for your job
:((
Which one is blue
they literally introduce them in MSQ
it seems you started one of them then
check your quest log or open your completed section to find out which role quest you last done
if you started them already
Hey guys, I'm new to ffxiv and am on the free trial? is early game supposed to be extremely boring or something bc i'm not having much fun
ah healer role quests
whm
Yes, early game is boring cause you miss like all your skills
@hard palm early game sucks cause its usually 1, 2, 1,2, 3
the npc is Giott
mord souq?
arm ahreng
@lethal mural when does the game become fun
im just forcing myself to play atm, some of my friends play it but haven't really explained the game to me
classes take a bit to come together
@hard palm depends on your style of fun, the story line is amazing and fun as it goes on, dungeons are fun
i think you just need to find friends who are going to play with you at your level
I think what you're really missing tho
true
if your friends are ahead it can be daunting to want to catch up to them right away
cant
ok
my fc literal like 50% reason why i play
i'll look into it, thanks guys
Where can I find crab oil?
ok
whats the fastest way to level a class post 70?
msq
like so i can continue sb main quest if im behind
HoH
HoH
Oh post
lmao
Until you reach ShB dungeons
btw guys, I've seen a lot of advice to stick with the highest level gear, but I noticed for me (mch) crit rate is very important, I currently wear all the gear which gives some crit rate and my dps is greatly increased
is it still worth to change to slightly higher level gear but without crit?
currently level 60
Yes
Don't worry about specific stats until level 80
okay
Unless you measured it with a tool
Then your DPS increase is only based on your crit number being bigger
if i want to level a second job without main story i need to get first 1 job to 60? to get the exp buffs or 80?
'How do I get the bonus experience from the Armoury?'
As long as you're playing a Disciple of War or a Disciple of Magic class that's a lower level than your highest level class then you're able to benefit from the bonus experience. You do not need to have a class at level 80 for the bonus to be active.
'How much is the bonus experience?'
You get +100% experience from levels 1 to 69, which then reduces to +50% for level 70 to 79. The difference in level between your current class and highest class does not change the amount of experience you get.
You get the buff as long as you a leveling any dow/m that is not your highest level dow/m
If your highest is a Gladiator at lvl 15, then anything combat job below 15 will get the buff
so i have Redmage.. and i want to level up summoner and the other class
If you ended up with say a conjurer at lvl 20, now your lvl 15 Gladiator will get the buff
it should work?
It is automatically applied
I've got 3 retainers at level 30, I started them off as archer due to that being my main at the time, now my main is mch - should I reset retainers level and class and relevel them or it's okay to hit 55 level cap with them? In the long run what's the better decision?
you can change their class at 50
Previously that was like a month of progress lmao
field explorations give like 5 levels up to 30
each 18h venture
not sure how quick it will go later
btw does any of you bother with quick explorations? I've been told it can bring in some nice items but I've spent like over 50 ventures already and the best I've got is some house decor stuff that I sold for 30k
80% of what they bring back is worthless
can you unlink a SE account from a PSN one?
No
I’m so confused. Is Doma a city of a country? Becasue I’m in Stormblood and in this village and they’re like, “you are supposed to be Domans!” Yet I’m in a small village

Doma is a country
I thought yanxia was the country
Yanxia is the region
With othard being the continent
This is gonna sound dumb but what’s the difference between the country doma and region yanxia?
yanxia big
Doma is a city state iirc
asia vs china
Oh hi
The difference between Yanxia and Doma is the same difference between Ul'dah and Thanalan
Pretty much
Wouldn’t the equivalent to Asia be Othard?
Yes
yes
So like Ul’Dah=doma Thanalan=yanxia and Eorzea=Othard?
Sure
Othard is the continent Yanxia is the region owned by Doma pretty much, Doma is the city-state
ul'dah is smaller than doma I'm p sure
Oh idk about that Cerberus
much smaller but it's a similar concept
yeah
Doma before the garlean invasion at least had enforcement similar to the yellow jackets/brass blades
at least in terms of reach
So Doma isn’t just the city itself but the region around the city too?
the real question is if yanxia is the equivalent of china why does everyone still have japanese names
Do these affect anything about your character? I'm just starting this game and don't know what these do
doma is like a kingdom yes
Because Ta'qo
yanxia is a weird japanese Chinese Korean fusion
Ahhh okay
the gods affect your elemental resistance
No
they don't anymore
Which don't exist anymore
oh
Elemental resistance stopped being a thing a long time ago
You should be able to, but you’ll get a bit less experience
yes you can complete level 35 leves with a 34 character
Is there a way to hide alliance member debuff and dot effects on boss to avoid less clutter?
not without hiding all of them
but yes
you can set it so that only your debuffs appear
I think it's in character config somewhere
How do I get more achievement currency?
by....doing achievements
How do I make a Shit load of money really fast
each achievement has a point worth
and then those points get converted into the currency
What’s the conversion rate
treasure maps, getting into crafting/gathering can be profitable right away if you do it decently enough, (only hundreds of thousands to begin with though), roulettes, etc etc @midnight slate
50 points per certificate
Ok crafting it is
^ sounds about right
What’s a good crafter to make money with?
all of them
^
Ideally you level them all
^^^^
To reduce the need to buy materials
they all make something that's needed either for other crafters or jobs
They are very interconnected
except for maybe CUL but food is still important when raiding
CUL is the only one you can really skip when leveling them all since it's materials aren't used for other crafters but it's still nice to do
Crafting and gathering is kinda a big "all or nothing" if you wanna be self sufficient and make larger profits
but really before you do crafting I'd level up gathering first
So I craft things to sell on the MB
That’s how crafters make their money?
otherwise you'd be spending a good amount on materials
Yep
Ughhhhhh I hate the MB
No one buys my stuff
Crafters make millions a day by playing the market
You're not reading the market right then
Don't even need to play it
economics, baby

yo
i got to cap yesterday and was told to buy the 480ilvl crafted gear, which i did (mostly)
now i have 16 materia slots open and idk what to socket them with
WHM btw
or does that belong in #healer-lounge
piety to comfort > crit > dhit=det
did you buy that gear high quality btw?
!faq Balance
If memory serves correctly
Has guides and melding prios in the balance
first two would be right Industrial
ooh thanks
When is the right time to use Interjection? I try useing it to interrupt AoE but it doesn’t seem to work
Flashing cast bars
is hq the swirly thing next to the name
Yes
They only work on that
then yes
Gotchya thank
how long do treasure map portals last?
Iirc 5mins, you have a timer on the duty list
So I found some ff art and I want to know who they are but the content is nsfw so anyone knows who I can ask?
Can someone explain how fate chains work? Do I need to complete all of them in order to fight the boss, or just the last one, or can I complete them out of order? Is there a way to track them (the shred fate screen doesn't make sense, I've done two of the tempest ones but nothing has change for that region)
I also just completed the final Tempest "low coral fiber" and the last one that should ahve the boss isn't showing up (i didn't think it would honestly, it can never just be that easy"
If I complete an older quest in the fate chain does that fuck me over and reset the whole thing?
Red mage does not really follow a rotation? They just do whatever since some of there abilities are random?
The Shared FATEs simply track the number of FATEs you've completed for each zone. Completing certain numbers of them will unlock rewards from the Bicolor Gem vendors.
Red mage is a priority system
yeah I knew that, I was hoping it could track the zone fate chain but I guess not
Priority system?
FATE chains should spawn in order, and you can come in simply for the last one in a chain and participate to get credit.
What does dat mean?
red mage main thing is to maintain their black and white mana on their gauge to be within 30 of each other
Sorry if this is a bother, but would anyone mind enlightening me on how to complete the Relic Reborn quest?
so if you have different proc (yellow line on certain skill) you need to work out how to do it best while maintaining your black/white mana within the 30 unit difference
Have you accepted the quest for the weapon you want to earn @tacit vector ?
If so, simply follow the instructions in the quest help.
what am i supposed to do with kupo vouchers D:
alright, do I just wait for the final boss fate then?
use em?
you can trade them for prizes
can you/should you make those weapon combo macros that pvp uses?
You can, or you can go through the chain.
Bard a the same way also?
you can, @leaden ginkgo but it is extremely inefficient
You can't make skill combo macros the way PvP has where the skills progress through the combos.
@open coral Yes. It says I need to get a materia enhanced madman's whispering rod. But I've looked everywhere and can't find a shop that sells one.
Macros are extremely dumb
you can, people just don't
they cannot have conditionals
@tacit vector You'll need to look for a Madman's Whispering Rod with the appropriate materia fused on the Market Board.
It's a crafted item.
@open coral Oh I see. Well thank you! I'll have a look and see if I can't find one.
You can also purchase one without the materia, and acquire the materia separately to have an NPC fuse for you.
Thanks!
Is there a way to remove the skill names from showing up when using controller cross hotbar?
there is a macro function to replace your hotbar with other hotbar... so if you have another macro there.... you can technically make a "combo" THIS IS NOT A RECOMMENDATION anyone who happens to see this, don't take this as an advice
yes, it is in your settings
“Display hotbar help”
Ohhh great thank you
What would you like it to do?
Obviously cast Raise, but do you want it to do something else as well?
@vapid scarab
Because it does.
That's just the sound effect they used, I guess.
the party text should be under raise action line
^
question, can we do stuff like /p i am raising <t> <se.1>
You can toss a <se> on the /p text line too, if you want to be fancy about it.
Yes, you can.
if you aren't here to answer questions for real...
yes you can
I thought the sarcasm came through well enough. Alas.
Please don't troll
I think you can use sound effects in party chat as well, but people aren't all that fond of it.
it is not a spam so a <se.1> is fine
My Raise macro says
/ac Raise
/p
Casting Spell
Raise
on <t> <se.4>
the point of announcing raise macro is to make sure party numbers know you are doing it and who are you doing it to
Put a wait.1 after the res to avoid spamming chat
so if you press it multiple times in panic, the /p not repeat?
Or if you have to move before it's done casting.
Sorry, maybe I’m really noobie but can someone write out exactly what I need to put in the text box for insta raise??
if you are that new, you probably should stick to doing it manually
/ac Swiftcast
/wait 1
/ac Raise
/p Raising <t> <se.2>
/wait 60
/echo Swiftcast Raise is up
/micon Raise
the macro don't exactly speed it up
Ah tu @open coral
no micon? XD
Oh right

Ty ty!!
I will note @vapid scarab that it is not advised to macro Swiftcast and Raise together.
Why is that? 👀
The /wait can cause the macro to "hiccup" and the Raise to not go off appropriately
But it's necessary in order for the macro to function.
As macros dont que
I will say that it usually does work, and for non-EX and non-Savage content it's perfectly adequate
/p Raising <t> <se.2>
this alone is still good because you are calling dibs with one
doesn't really matter, Dura
Assuming all my crafters are still in the 40-55 zone
Would anyone like to do a dungeon with me? I'm lv 70 Drag and still trying to learn it so I kinda suck atm
put specialist on your favorite lol
did you boost?
Does it not actually do anything
or did you reach level 70 but not sure what to do?
Outside of certain crafts being unlocked
it gives you some free stats

craft/control/cp
@warped nest boost
find a lvl 1 striking dummy (Summerford farm in your teleportation pointm it has one just south of the aetheryte crystal)
remove all SKILLs off your hotbar
add them back one by one and hit the dummy with it as you read the tooltips
Always read the tooltips
this should "simulate" leveling up a dragoon from scratch
They're the most useful information on your skills that you have.
I been on youtube and tried the combos they use however for some reason it doesn't work in sequence likes theirs do
I've watched the lv 70 ones
that's from previous expansion, Stormblood
it was different
jobs get cleaned up from expansions to expansions
thoughts on samurai versus ninja for a newbie who hasn't played since ARR?
Either or
pick whichever looks cool
Whatever you think will be more fun
personal bias tho I think samurai is easier.
Arent they completely different
They're both melee dps that use blades.
of course. most classes are
Samurai being top personal no team
That's... about the only similarity they have
Ninja being shit personal heavy buffs
From what I read Samurai is slightly simpler but selfish and ninja gives some more support andutility
So I wasn't sure if there's a high party preference long term
samurai has more buttons to press compared to ninja
the party preference is you don't suck
for most of the time
No-one bar World First prog pushers
fwiw
cares about who brings what
we recommend picking Jobs you think are cool so you are more motivated to get better at the job
I dont see ninjas in raids practically ever
how often do you raid?
but I’ve never seen anyone quit from a ninja joining either
So its whatever
uh
Dont mean savage level content
Just basic dungeons,24mans etc
Really? I see NIN all the time
this is just an issue of sample size and bias
¯_(ツ)_/¯
i can also argue that you don't see low level ninja because everyone love em and maxed their ninja (not real)
hi, got another q: any new tricks of setting your orchestrion playlists? I find it having only allows 8 songs kinda too limited... 🤔
afaict, no
awww.....
@burnt wraith yeah, go find a striking dummy lower level or same level as you, remove all skills, add them back slowly, read tooltips and use them on the dummy
it should help you get the hang of the basics
there are no guides for Shadowbringers lvl 70 dragoons
also, are there ways to set certain song length time? there are songs that's just being cut too soon without having it properly finished it's entirety before playing next on list.
it is a pretty under-developed feature tbh
Remember that the songs don't actually have a traditional "end" to them since they're meant to loop infinitely.
you gonna live with what they dealt you with
some songs are just short
i already had problem with very few amount of song to play, as per my 1st q... 😅
for example, one that i use "Coming Home" (Vanu tribe song), was just cut too short before it's even finished playing it's entire length
or... just don't use playlist, i guess... 😅
iirc 2 grade 8 crit materia and 3x direct hit
yea exactly that
whats iirc?
'if i remember correctly'
"if i remember correctly"
(I never mended sorry)
Ahh okays
crap... i don't know either of those
neither
yea what are those
for what its worth and your mileage may vary
"for what it's worth" and "your mileage may vary"
op
or pita. lol
as opposed to afaik
i think afaik is more common
"as far as i know"
now you know my age ¯_(ツ)_/¯
i tho afaik way more common than afaict. in fact, i rarely saw ppl use afaict.
I've never seen afaict
tho afaict more subtle...
whats the best way to get strong materia?
Not really
not really, plus it doesn't matter at that level ( it kinda does, just not worth the effort)
You replace gear so quickly while you're leveling that materia isn't really important
I've just been melding when I get a set of gear I'll use for a while
How do starting classes and city-state affect my future jobs/classes?
Like quest stuff after ironworks etc
they dont suiren
@stable hinge if you're working your way through the back end of ARR, do your daily roulettes for Poetics, trade them in at Mor Dhona for Ironworks gear. If you max out on Ironworks stuff before you get to HW, upgrade it to Augmented Ironworks @ Drake in (I think) North Shroud
That'll put you in ilvl 130 gear that outclasses a bunch of the early HW turn-ins
and gives ya something to do with poetics, anyway.
So no matter what class I choose rn, I can still be whatever class/job I want to be later?
Assuming I have the DLC and what not that is
You can change freely after doing your lv10 class quest
You can eventually do all jobs
hey guys quick super noob q: what's the dif between fc's, fellowships, and linkshells

yes
