@marsh elk , regarding tanking, it is fairly straight forward in this game. the biggest first time tank tips i can give are
A don't save your defensive cooldown, if it is on 30s or 60s, then just use it. dont use ALL of them in one go, cycle them around, so you have something on at all time
B don't use your defensive cooldown only when you are low in health, -20% damage doesn't mean much when you have 100HP left
