You're pulling the enemy too far from their spawn point
don't worry about trying to kite enemies, it usually doesn't work and can make things worse by getting the attention of other monsters.

@silk flume depends on what you want out of it. in terms of stuff that FC houses get that non-FC houses don't, it's mainly just the Aetherial wheel for charging FC actions and the workshop for managing FC airships/submarines.

It's in a bit of a lull due to Coronavirus causing a bit of a delay for the next patch, but I do think that also helps in giving new players time to reach current content
and yeah, the next main patch will streamline the base game story to some degree.
As for the sale, I can't say if I remember when it ends.
