However, every other online multiplayer game I've played is flawless, no lag spikes in the least- this only happens with FFXIV. It's confusing to me since other online games and MMOs (Like ESO and GW2) run flawlessly with no lag spikes, its just ffxiv that does it, but it hasnt started until around a month ago and I've been playing for about 5 years and this never happened before- and yes! I'm in NA, playing on NA server

I would open up a ping window to your data center and let it run for a while. See if the ping also times out at the same time you get the lag spikes. And then consider contacting your ISP to let them know it's happening

Also for movement skills like those, I’m pretty sure it only checks your position during transit for drops/increases in elevation and if there’s a consistent AoE on the ground.
