@olive sand If the character you make is on a preferred world, it gets an exp boost until 70 iirc.
And if you want to join a friend's free company, you would have to be on that world. Otherwise it doesn't really matter.

@sonic wing Story skip would skip you past anything you missed between base game and Heavensward. So you'd skip the 2.1-2.55 story quests too. Also it doesn't include a level skip (that's a separate purchase) so you'd still have to level a class/job. But if you're wanting to level along side your friend I would suggest just doing the MSQ together as much as you can.

Then I suspect you'll have no issue. Levequests are the fastest way just because you can repeat them while GC are once a day, but it's worth it to do both in tandem
you can burn some GC seals around 27 for DoH in order to get some decent gear
