They don’t cost real money.
Rank 1 and 2 boosts are bought with free company credits which are generating by doing various things
Yep
What are a good beginner caster? 😄
Arcanist
Or thaumaturge for getting into the "true dps" feel
But arcanist has good utility
No actual numbers given out, but drop rate feels around 10% for the old expansion mounts
i think so
arcanist becomes summoner right?
And scholar
Summoner or Scholar
Is it hard to heal in ffvix? 😄 totally new to anything in this game 🙂
Not really
Damage is scriptes as all hell
Every fight plays out exactly the same as last time you did it
So as long as people arent 0 IQ and stand in the bad, you end up dpsing most the time
as a fresh player maybe it is? 😄 i've healed in wow but nothing else in any other mmos 😄
Most your healing comes from off global heals
Once you get those, you rarely touch gcd heals
and i like healing but does healers and casters gear the same or like scholar and summoner? 🙂
No
Casters get casting gear
Healers get healing gear
Since healers use Mind
And casters use Int
oh and whats mind? :d
When choosing my coffer should I select Slaying or Fending as Samurai? Isn't Fending tanks?
Just wanted to double check. Thanks Vinyl.
You want slaying and striking for gear
So if im going to unlock every job on one char i need a ton of gear to change around? 😮
you could level classes in increments of 5-10 to share gear, it's especially helpful on crafters/gatherers
@leaden ginkgo did you chargeback your sub at some point
because that's an automatic account kill
Yes
Does anyone know what type of sound the Duty ready checker is classified as? (system, effects, performance) I have most of the game relatively low but when alt-tabbed working on something else, I still want to hear it. thanks !
system
it means youre new
If you're a new player, and you can't figure out how to take it off on your own, then you should probably keep it
You can turn it off now if you wish by selecting your character from the Party Members tab of the Social interface, then select the Edit Search Info subcommand.
so I'm about to start the game with a friend of mine, is there a suggested realm we should go to or does anyone have any suggestions
Make sure you're playing on a preferred server for the exp boost. The game will tell you which servers are preferred
@white sinew That's the i430 job armor you get for reaching level 80 and completing the lvl 80 role quest
Weathered Hattori set
Weathered Hattori set
What should my Item level be around Level 37-40
yes, you can edit your character no problem on a congested server, you're not making a new character @white sinew
Still have tons of seals left.
What should my Item level be around Level 37-40
@forest lark Under level 50 your ilevel should more or less match your character level.
Ohh I see, cause Im level 37 and my ilevel is rn 27 and I feel kind of weak, I can barely kill anything
It might be your weapon ilevel that's the problem, or that you haven't been doing your job quests to get new abilities.
What is your job in game?
Honestly I dont even know whatvI should be equipping, Im playing this for just a week and first time, I am black mage rn
Honestly that's fine @forest lark
Getting the same ilvl as your level in ARR is hard
Because accessories really lower your average ilvl
Have you been remembering to go back to your class hall every 5 levels? That will get you new abilities.
27 as a level 37 sounds a bit low but just being somewhat okay and I assume that you aren't actually close to level 37 content so you don't really need better gear where you are at
In that case, unless your equipped weapon ilevel is super low, I wouldn't worry too much.
Btw is it normal to still have grey, white qualitybweapon
Yes
I see some have blue or pink
Blues don't worry about because you can't even get one at your level yet
If you're lucky enough to get a dungeon weapon from an equivalent level dungeon (which is what green and pink are) then you can equip those
Otherwise, white-quality weapons are completely acceptable
Ohh ill try running more until I getbsomething decent
It's not the rarity that matters @forest lark

It's the ilvl/weapon damage
^
That's why I was asking about your weapon ilevel
If you're still using a weapon for level 20 when you're nearly level 40, then yes, your damage is going to be lower.
But still that only matters if you're actually doing level 40 content
True
It's okay to have a lot lower ilvl than your level if you aren't actually at that higher level content
I cant even kill this mob
That is because that mob requires you to use a quest item on it
Isn't that the type of mob that you are meant to use a key item to reduce their stats
need to use keyitem
then kill?
Ohhhh, im so dumb lol
Someone is skipping dialogue~
See the special icon by the mob's name?
A little
That usually indicates a mob that is more powerful than average for that level, and which will resist more damage.
Its even shown in there, ok im officially dumb
Such mobs are typically associated with quests, and require a key item to be used in order to kill them.
This is probably rule 2 or something of main story progression, pay attention to the objectives because they do sometimes tell you do very specific things
Ohh ok then thx haha I might cut down on skipping dialogues
"Read the quest dialogue" is rule number 1 of playing any RPG.
What’s this weird icon on purchase history? Never seen it before
The chest-like one? That means someone was displaying the item on a Mannequin in their house
Yeah that one
What does that mean? Someone went to their house and bought it off the mannequin?
LOL
I don’t think you have to buy it from the mannequin directly
But yeah you can do that
Ahh I see okay
Oh poo I thought the current sale for Shadowbringers included it on Steam. I cannot grab the expansion with the sale for a steam account already with the starter thing, can I?
If you bought the base game not on steam then correct.
Doesn’t shadowbringers by itself also have a sale on steam? Or is it only the complete edition?
steam's sale ended
Oh and obe more question, where can I get Thavnarian bustier set if thats the name? And how often costumes in mogstation rotate?
nothing rotates in mogstation
thavnarian buster is a crafted item in game
Are there any slots i should buy first with my phantasmagorias? Or just whatever i need rn?
Weapon first
In terms of effective stats, the order is weapon > chest/pants > head/gloves/boots > belt > accessories
Though I’d say it’s better to get the Resistance weapons instead of Phanta at this point
The first weapon is free and all other weapons are 1k poetics.
Oh right, relics are a thing now.
And they’re i485 which is 15 better than upgraded Phanta
I forgot about them.
When can i get it?
There's a quest line that starts in Kugane
Right after shadowbringers base story, assuming you complete the level 70 alliance raid questline with Ivalice
oh, theres no ilvl requirement for it?
Nope
Just finish the MSQ through the quest "Shadowbringers" and have done the Ivalice raid.
Just do the 70 raids then the quest, which has a solo instance
Then the first relic is free
havnt done any 70 raids, guess i know what to do then
Thanks. I'm in that awkward place where I really enjoyed the game after my free month + log in campaign, but my class is maxed and it is a big hard question as to whether it is worth to invest in the expansion and monthly stuff. But if not now when haha
i thought the fate crystal grind would be hard but it was pretty fast
Yeah, they vastly increased the drop rates for the Atma crystals sometime during last expansion, so it goes quicker now than it once did.
im lvl 39 SMN and everything was fine and dandy until I had to play at lvl 60 in POTD
the amount of keybinds was a harsh reality check as to what ive gotten myself into
SMN has a LOT going on.
did i just screw myself by choosing the highest DPS class in the game as a noob?
It's a bit unfair to go to 60 in PotD because you're very naturally not going to understand
no
Nah
You don't have that slow build up of learning skills to ease you in
^
It's just a steep learning curve since SMN has a lot of tools introduced
so PotD can be a bit frightening like that
PotD really rushes you into things instead of allowing you to get a feel for each ability before you learn the next one.
I'm curious how long term players feel about raids and missions they keep replaying. Do you still enjoy it? What brings you back? Do you stop for a while and await new content at times?
At the moment I don't mind redoing the same raids for my dailies because I'm still learning how to be a good tank and have a long way to go
i was matched with 2 other DPS and 1 tank (who couldnt really tank all that much tbh) and I was the only mage. our party got wiped at floor 50 so || ironically i ended being in the same situation as Edda||
But I imagine that after a while you get to be pretty much a master of your class and nothing phases you, so skill acquisition and game play go out the window as motivators then? I don't know this is my first MMO
its what you make of it, some people like to collect vanity items, others max all classes, others just like to do chill dungeon runs with friend in voice chat
or you can chill after reaching your goal, come back next patch
I'm curious how long term players feel about raids and missions they keep replaying. Do you still enjoy it? What brings you back? Do you stop for a while and await new content at times?
At the moment I don't mind redoing the same raids for my dailies because I'm still learning how to be a good tank and have a long way to go
@broken pasture
First of all, you're not bound to a single class, so you can go through the same content with every single job in the game.
Second, aside from certain leveling dungeons, they do a very good job of making interesting fight mechanics, visually beautiful maps, and really awesome music, as well as farmable gear and rare cosmetic rewards.
Basically, there is intrinsic value to running the same content a million times if you're into glamour and collections. Plus the large scale raid and alliance raid content is always just really fun.
Glamor seems fun and I am all about different classes
Part me thought about using this free week to level a second class and not spend on the DLC yet but I also think I'm here for the story and I hear it only gets better
So I may Paladin as far as possible. I guess it is a real "go at your own pace" thing when it comes to starting another class or learning crafting
The game really does allow for a very "my pace" kind of progression. You aren't punished by the system for coming into content late, and it actually encourages picking up other jobs or DoH/DoL even while you're still doing MSQ.
It's all about what you want to do.
What armor is this?
the chest is halone's mail of fending, its pvp gear
Anyone have a skill layout for DrK i could use as a reference to base mine on?
Is 2000 wolf marks grindy?
can get it in 2 days if you just do the frontlines roulette
1k for doing the roulette + whatever you get from your team's placement
I lost my status bar in the HUD settings, how do I get it back?
Frontline roulette? Where can I access that?
For the target UI, sawney?
I can’t remember how unlocking PVP duties go but you should get all the frontline duties from a quest either at your grand company or at the Wolves’ Den
do you get exp from pvp?
@obsidian patio like, the bar that shows your procs and such
Yes
in my case my straight shot procs
Not a lot but yes Satanic
Ok
Click on the System button in the HUD Layout and then look for “Status Info”
That’ll be your buffs/debuffs

So I know you all probably get this question a lot, but how does a new player choose Data Center / Server?
This channel is for new or returning players to ask questions and discuss Final Fantasy XIV. As a reminder this channel is a troll free and an off-topic free zone. For general discussion please use #general-discussion. <@&473626701947994134> are available to help in this channel. Thank-You, Kupo!
pick the data center in your geographic region
pick a Preferred Server if available
First recommendation is to choose a datacenter in your region for best ping, so NA datacenters if you live in North America/South America, EU for Europe, and so on
Are the communities different on the 3 NA centers?
Hey so I'm looking to convert from a trial to regular account. I assume I just go buy from the square enix store the game. If i get the complete edition, that's everything, right? Game + DLC and a month of play time?
Where did you get the free trial from?
dunno if links are cool, so just google ffxiv free trial. it's the first hit
Right so from SE
Then yeah that's okay
and you understand the complete edition correctly
oh. i thought you were asking me where to get the trial xD
@azure gust Aether/Primal are the main raiding datacenters for NA while Crystal has a more established RP community.
i am doing the dungeon quest where the relics have to be equipped
It's just that if you get the Steam free trial you can't upgrade with the non-steam version which you'd get from the SE store Shabz
i accidentally entered it without it equipped
do i have to restart or can i just equip it ?
ahh. yea. i'm on the standalone client
Should be fine so long as you equip it for the final boss Space
ok
@obsidian patio are there any with a higher furry population? >.>
How to farm grand company seals early? I can't seem to get enough for promotions
Do your grand company hunting log and fates near your level
Focus on promotions until Sergeant Second Class, which unlocks the ability to trade in non-white gear in for seals
Am I going to have to redownload the whole game or will my client figure it out and download what's needed?
As that’s a big boost in seal income past 50
ahhh okay, yeah I finished the hunting logs already - guess the seal boost at 50 is what I should aim for
how often do you do fates while questing/side questing?
Once i require my resistance weapon as a SAM, do i put materia in there immidiatly?
You can, yes
What’s the point of leveling up your grand company? I got a chocobo from it and then ignored it. I’m in Stormblood content now. Should I still care about it?
@trim cargo when I was doing story generally whenever they were in the way.
gotcha , thanks
@narrow arch getting to Second Lieutenant unlocks the Hunt system which lets you earn currencies from the various expansion hunt mobs. For the Shadowbringers version of it you can spend the currency on Grade 7/8 materia, and when 5.3 hits, you can spend it on upgrades for the weekly tomestone gear
Seals can also be spent to make a bit of money from the items you can buy with them, like glamour prisms
Also are there some up to date materia guides for the classes somewhere? I can only find ones from 2019. Secondly, i read that SAM aims for a specific skill speed, but if i dont know what my other gear pieces look like later on (currently on resistance weapon + 430 gear), how do i know which materia to put into my resistance weapon?
!faq Balance
Right in here
From looking at my inventory it seems I have 9,00 seals. Is that good?
All meld priorities are in the balance discord
cool, thanks
If you haven’t promoted at all, sounds like you’re at the cap, so spend them on promotions to unlock some more stuff.
Sergeant Second Class lets you turn in non-white gear for even more seals to spend on stuff for money
As a level 18 THM do I ignore ice and fire 2 for now? I remember hearing there were some spells you just don't use for a while.
Fire 2 is your main AoE until 68 or so. (Besides a weird period from 35-49 with Freeze)
For Blizzard 2, technically you should use it for more damage during AoE but I personally don’t since that involves moving right up to the enemy
Does anyone know a discord for hunt trains?
There’s this general Centurio Hunt discord. https://discord.gg/dZTgnpv
thanks!
hello my pc dies so i play on ps4 now so running 1080 on normal ps4 will be good or bad
i do not have pro and i will run 1080 p
so like i just started playing the game and i honestly don't know what i am doing beside doing the main quest 😮
Other quests to keep up on are most
go do other things and explore world
All the preferred worlds aren't accepting new characters V.V
As they unlock a bunch of stuff like dungeons and features such as dyeing and glamour
return to story for more anytime
You’ll just have to wait for a quieter time of day.
yea exactly
@whole leaf you’ll be good, might have some frame rate issues in very high populated areas and longer loading times for crowded areas like Eulmore
aha thx
Hey i gotta question how to i gain access to Allagan Tomestones?
Do i have to reach some point in main story to start getting them ?
Iirc just being 50 and running 50 dungeons is enough.
Finish base arr
ah make sense my main story quest is lvl 30 while i'm 50
Alright i'll push the story till 50 but i lvled so fast since i started on bonus exp relam so i kinda speed way past main story
Do less
and roulette
You can level a second job if you're on the xp buff.
Stormblood Expansion Jobs: Red Mage (Caster DPS) and Samurai (Melee DPS). These jobs start at level 50 and require ownership of the Stormblood Expansion and a disciple of war or magic job at level 50.
Job Unlock Locations:
Red Mage - Distraught Lass at Ul'dah - Steps of Thal (14,12), quest name is "Taking the Red".
Samurai - Ul'dahn Citizen at Ul'dah - Steps of Nald (9,9), quest name is "The Way of the Samurai".
I mean the bonus xp you get.
No
It stays and will reactivate when you switch to a job that's below 70.
Road to 70 only goes away if a server is no longer marked as Prefered and your character is older than 90 days
oh so i got plenty of time
My kinda goal is to try out to lvl up all other tank classes in game while i have this buff
If that's the case
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AIXNyC2bb_g is this correct up to date or thers better methods?
Let us continue with my comprehensive version and conclusion of my leveling-guide series, with some completely new methods of leveling through "Command missions" and with new helpful gimmicks, like the "Aetherryte Earring" and stuff alike.
I hope you like the video and keep u...
You should pick up another tank
And use it to do story
Very easy to level a new tank from 1-30
Especially under exp budf
With the buff you can level 2 jobs and still keep up with the msq.
So might as well start now.
Yeah
Yes
whats the fastest way to level alts?
And what do i do till 30 ? since that's where my current quest is
@main mountain let me watch the vid real quick
Just spam dungeons ?
k thx

1-15: FATEs and class Hunting Log
15+: Roulette then dungeon
Alright what do i do when i reach lvl 30 on warrior ?
continue the msq with it.
@obsidian patio is command mission still recommended for leveling jobs?
And swap classes every once in a while.
So when i reach 50 or so i switch back and forth every few lvls ?
With road to 70, you can maintain 2 jobs at the same level as your MSQ
Yes
Seems like legit strat
Command missions are pretty nice for experience, but it does have the con of needing GC seals to run
And i got feeling 2nd time around it wud go a lot faster from 1 to 50 since i don't have to bother with main quest till 30 at least
For the pre-50 dungeons you run them at a seal loss
!faq altlvlguide
@main mountain
ye
Use the video combined with the link above
Command mission, as what Wynne said, is nice but it cost GC seals
Yes
Yeah i read about that just now no seal for Ironworks gear till lvl 50
cheers
sorry got them mixed up the stuff u need to buy Ironworks gear that doesn't drop before 50 i meant
Alright ill try this strat with warrior he is the only tank i can lvl up right now ?
The Dark Knight unlocks when you enter the city you get access to in Heavensward.
Yeah i other two are from different expansions so they don't start lvl 1
Shadowbringers Expansion Jobs: Gunbreaker (Tank) and Dancer (Ranged DPS). These jobs start at level 60 and require ownership of the Shadowbringers Expansion and a disciple of war or magic job at level 60.
Job Unlock Locations:
Gunbreaker - Gods' Quiver Bow at New Gridania (11,11), quest name is "The Makings of a Gunbreaker".
Dancer - Eager Lominsan at Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks (9,12), quest name is "Shall We Dance".
Gunbreaker is tank from this exp ?
Yes
oh i see why u say that
Once i reach 60 i can already start to lvl gunbreaker
Since i take quest for him in New Gridania which i already have explored
Heavensward (the first expansion) has its 3 jobs in Heavensward region
Which the player doesn't respond well toward
So subsequent expansion jobs are made easier to access
Yeah i've see that now i can train samurai in uldah
Alright bros thanks for helping out a nab
Have fun
So far can't say im blown away with story but it sure is getting heated right around now lvl 30
Hello
I haven't played since the first month of ARR and I remember nothing, so I'm as much of a new player as I am a returning player
But I do have a lvl50 DRG
What should I do while I watch lore videos and catch back up on everything?
!faq newplayertips
This has a lot of general info in it
Thanks
You’ll also want to redo your hotbar since a lot of skills have been changed and removed
Any specific things I should do first? I have like 10 bookmarks of stuff to read but I also want to play lol
Like quests or, lvling a new job, or something. There's so much, I'm kinda overwhelmed
Quests that unlock content and stuff are now marked as
, so you can explore and do a bunch of those
Unless they’re the ones that unlock classes you don’t care for at the moment, or for levequests
This faq has a organized list of them
Ah okay. I did one of those earlier to unlock the aesthetician
!faq contentunlock
https://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/wiki/Guide:Progression_and_Level_Locked_Content
is helpful if you want to keep track of all the unlockable quests
i should be using Squadron Battle Manual for pre 50 class right?
Yeah
with all these links, you will need a ffxiv browser lol or a bookmarks folder for ffxiv
Yeah I've got a folder going already haha
are there anything else besides this squadron and food?
Tips on redoing hotbar:
- remove all skills
- find a striking dummy (easiest one is south of Summerford Farm teleport point)
- add your skill in the order your learn them while hitting the dummy
This simulate leveling up a new job from level 1
Make sure you read tooltips and your Traits
Oh thanks, I'll definitely do that
I like the idea of simulating learning the job from lvl 1 again
Take note that it is not perfect simulation, some Traits upgrades your Actions
Got it
What I did not know, or maybe it is a bug, but getting Job advancements completely reset my skill hotbar so that sucked
Class and Job has different hotbar settings
You can copy them with some text command/macroes.
Once I finish re-reading the lore stuff, should I buy the expansions before starting on 2.1? IDK if the extra exp is important
Okay, doesn't sound like a big deal
I've found ethys's ARR Abridged really helpful for catching back up on the story
@hard loom /hotbar copy thm 1 blm 1 Replace thm/blm with your class/job combination and go from 1 to 3 for the default setup.
use /chotbar for cross hotbar
thanks! very helpful for any of my other classes 😊
Do take that note it doesn't work as well with Arcanist and Scholar/Summoner
Personally, I feel that it is easier to just setup again manually
i am new to ff14 what is a good class to start???
Any
What kind of class do you want?
!faq meta
paladin, samurai, summoner
which one is fun to play??
Depends on what you like. There's classes that are faster, classes that are slower, classes that are more strategical, classes that are more reactional.
paladin, whitemage - healer, Samurai, summoner. From this list which one is more fun to play??
for beginner
is not hard to play??
No
Nah, both are easy to understand
All are easy to solo level.
Tank and healer has shorter dungeon queue time, that's all
Your levels for your first job mainly come from the main story. And every class can do the solo parts solo.
Is there an npc where i can apply for a free company? I cant find a member of the free company i wanna join
no
If i create another character on the same world, but i buy the one character per world extra time, what will happen to my characters?

if you switch to an entry sub from a standard sub, any characters after the top most character are frozen and unable to be acessed
until you switch back to standard
if my friend play on pc and I play on ps4 we can still play together right??
yes
just has to be same server??
Same world if you guys want to be in the same guild
Same data center is the bare minimum
thank you ^^
How do I open the gate between Coerthas Western Highlands and the Dravanian Hinterlands? I am on Shadow bringers and I understand it's a side-mission of some sorts but which one am I missing?
If I recall correctly, it's open as soon as you reach Hinterlands, you just need flight to reach it on either end.
We'll give that a shot then if it's just aether current. Alright thanks Eton
how many GP do you have on your level 80 gatherers ?
like i need insight b/c i’m at 50 roughly with 500
Not all of my gear is melded just yet and I'm not even close to the Facet stuff but right now I'm sitting at 799 without food buffs.
I think the important breakpoints are 600 and 800
You sit about 800gp at 80 with gear
Is there any way to disable the skill error sound without turning off system completely?
Or are they tied together?
Just a really weird question, if you guys don't mind me asking. I keep hearing that things like food get really good in late game, but how exactly is it good?
Buffs your stats. Gives you more damage. Allows crafters and gatherers to hit certain breakpoints.
I mean, how dramatic are the changes exactly?
For crafters usually very handy for extra CP and stats overall to make stuff
For battle its extra HP to potentially survive an attack and more substats but its like a few percent increase
No reason not to have food on during high end content
Literally free stats
!item Stuffed Highland Cabbage
*This traditional dish of minced meat seasoned and packed inside leafy highland cabbage, then stewed in a light broth, is sure to warm you up on the coldest of nights.
EXP Bonus: +3% Duration: 30m

8% [81] (10% [101] HQ)
8% [134] (10% [168] HQ)
8% [172] (10% [215] HQ)
Example of the most popular food
I would put it on a few %, probably single digit. But can't say a definite number. It definitely helps, but is not essential.
Do they stack, or no?
Only 1 food buff at a time
I ask because I have a culinarian, and I'm just curious
But eating the same food twice extends the buff
Raid food also sells well especially when new raids came out.
Same with potions
Oh cool, I'm an alchemest too!
http://puu.sh/Fy79O.jpg a trial like in duty finder?
the trial being a quest from one of the npcs at your grand company
iirc that's...for dzemael?
oh no, its aurum vale
oh I did that, thank you.
Do only certain weapons have a glow or is it something you can add to a weapon?
certain weapons have glow
relic weapons in particular are weapons that as you do the quest, add glow to the weapon
Oh okay that's pretty cool. What if you glamour a weapon that glows? Does it take the glow to the glamour weapon?
no, the glow is specific to that weapon
Alright. Thank you.
question about the Relic weapon system, making sure I kind of have this right
ARR Relic weapons start as just the base Relic weapon, then upgrade into Zenith > Atma etc
HW are the Anima weapons
SB is Antiquated > Anemos etc and connected to Eureka
ShB is Resistance Weapons?
can you work on these for one job at a time and do you ahve to do them all in order?
They're not interconnected
having a ARR zeta lets you skip the first part of hw relic, but thats it
And yes, ARR is the zodiac relic, HW is Anima relic, SB is Eureka, and ShB is Resistance weapon
and can you do them on multiple jobs?
yes but you can't be on the same stage on multiple weapons for the arr/hw relic
you essentially have to stagger them a bit
if I want a ironwork weapon, should I just buy stuffs from auriana or is it worthy to do the "crystal tower quests"?
SB you can pretty much be working on as many as you want since its largely just grinding for materials
Its much faster to simply buy the encrypted tomestone and tokens from auriana @hot crane
got it. Thanks so much!
tyty 🙂
still worth it to do the crystal tower quests after I got my weapon?
not sure if it's just old content that isn't worth to play
I am fairly new
🤔 the crystal tower doesn't have anything to do with any weapons
well i guess technically it does but no one uses it anymore
its still worth going thru the crystal tower series
since the story is relevant to shb
you should do the crystal tower quests once for the story
plus you can unlock the alliance roulette with it and thats a pretty chunk exp source
and alliance roulette is a good source of xp
and dps queues are great for it
the only contents you want to hold off on are old Savage Raid, EX trials, and the Relic weapons
kk
you can do them later
how is the HW relic grind vs the SB relic grind?
HW relic is arguably the easiest since poetics is the biggest time sink.
HW relic becomes easiest after the 1st run
im constantly capping poetics so that sounds super easy
you would have unlocked all the quests and what not after the 1st one, so it is very easy to stock up mats for the rest of HW relic
i myself have completed 4 HW relics all the way, and 2 others mid-way (cuz I like those design better)
Twin Thegns is my favorite PLD weapon by that token. But, yeah, on topic SB requires entering Eureka. While it is much faster post nerfs/Echo, it still requires you to level up and tackle enough fates for the materials needed.
you can't get the earlier designs through the calamity vendor?
im up to the pyros axe now, working on the elemental +1 armor before i start on the hydatos weapon
I believe so? I don't recall how it works in Eureka since I ground to a halt at Pagos but for Anima, yeah, replicas would be available pretty shortly through a nearby vendor. I think Eureka's is on the pier near the lockpick.
does skill speed materia lower recast cd
for your weaponskill yes
not for your ability
but it works in tiers
(very crude example), if you need 50 pts to reduce it by 0.01s, it won't do anything if you have put in 40 pts
why doesn’t the market board list highest and lowest price items conveniently
if i wanna farm sellable items faster
??
it shows demand and quantity but not the price of items people put up
cuz people priced it differently?
and which price do you want to show?
per unit price? or total price?
per unit price
send a feedback to Square Enix, i guess?
in practical, it is not as easy as knowing what sells for the best price
you need to know what sells more often (this info is available)
at what quantity (info is available as well)
is there a way to list grand company daillies on like a notepad in game or do i have to copy paste word by word onto the macro thing
Its in the timers
/\
o ill check it out thanks
i'm trynna find some good gloves/boots to fit with the chestpiece, any ideas?
its a mod
oh, unfortunate.
@lime sphinx if all else fail, just use the boots from the same series

is there any higher rank after 7? do u get any new rewards if so? https://i.imgur.com/RJYBFKW.png
there is one more rank to 8.BloodSworn
there are no new items in the vendor but you do get an exp boost to the pixie dailies
is it a big boost? is the boost on rank 8 or during the rep of 7->8?
boost on rank 8
im not sure about the exact number/percentage
but when i recall it went from 1.8 mil to about 2mil per for my level 78 i think SAM
is there a chat fro looking for players
hey I'm kinda new to the game and I want to ask a pretty stupid question, is crafting weapons and armor the way to go? or earning them through quests/buying them is the best way?
crafting is optional
buying from marketboard or from doing normal raids is probably easier.
it's not very good for your first pass through the game
it's usually something people do after they've got at least one combat job up to the level cap
Does beast tribe quest give you exp sync with the lvl you turn it in? Like to say Beast tribe from arr when you at lvl70?
ARR beast tribe quests don't sync at all
So SB and HW sync?
expansion beast tribe quests do sync, but only up to the level cap for that expac
I see
so for example if you did a HW beast tribe quest on a level 70 character, you'd get exp as though you were only 60
is there a way to make chat channels "sticky" like WoW so when I type /p it stays in party until I switch to another?
ok but how about with a message/
once you've changed channels you can just type messages and it'll automatically go to that channel
ok I guess I was wondering if there's a checkbox
You can open multiple channels each with its own filter
now i don't understand what you're asking for
Some players with bigger screen even drag their channels out like a Google Chrome tab

Will someone post a good with all unlockable content after beating HW? Just got to post HW and im seeing a lot of pages on Google but nothing that shows location etc
open map -> do
Several dungeons, Gods of Eld (beginning of the Warring Triad unlocks, though you won't be able to actually unlock the trials until you MSQ a bit more), Sky Pirates (24 man raids), Disarmed (8 man Alex raids), more Hildibrand if you did all the ARR Hildibrand
Keeping Up With The Aliapohs in Idyllshire to unlock Wonderous Tails
that's all that comes to mind
Anima Relic weapon, but I don't recommend working on that at 60
How do i stop this error
!faq contentunlock
Damn man I still can't access the shadowbringers ost on apple music 😭
Those come from the story and
Yep
big f-ing yikes
I mean, better than WoW where you have to wait for the expansion to nearly end.
To get flying
any dungeons or raids i should do before starting shadow?
yea i guess
actually all the quests are level 51, so its possible to do it earlier i guess
Plus you'll revisit the areas for post expansion story so
Crystal Tower 24-man (starts in Mor Dhona) for some extra dialogue options for the story, and Ivalice 24-man (Starts in Kugane) for the ShB relic

haukke hard boss mech?
Last boss? Be slow on damage. It's too easy to drop her but she has a couple hard HP thresholds that can't be ignored.
Be certain all four adds spawn and are killed asap before finishing the boss
after the eye add is killed, you want to slow damage around 40% and wait for the last add to spawn and immediately kill it
I think the hard push for her eating that one happens around 30%
yeah the early ARR bosses weren't really designed with the idea of them being more easily/quickly killed later on.
#1 Example: T7 Normal/Savage

For the last boss in Haukke HM, it really helps if a melee dps uses LB on the last add to burst it down before the wipe mechanic happens.
The free play for ffxiv, will our subscription be extended for players with sub time?
no it's a incentive to get people back to resub after a break
I try to stack bioblaster and flamethrower (spread shot afterward) if they're both off cooldown. If I know I'm getting to a boss soon I prefer to save my heat gauge for them.
I have no idea if this is the most efficient way to do things though
@hot eagle who would ever stop subbing
@mossy current
Ah ty
Oh, that's a good guide. Thank you!
I don't like MCH too much but I gotta get the job to 80 anyway
Oh I love MCH, I've just never done much high-end before where it's really important to be optimal. MCH is actually the only DPS that I've tried that I really like
whats bes tplace to buy gear at level 63?
Kugane should have the level 60-70 vendor gear. If not then check the gear vendors in the ruby sea.
Though vendor gear stops being great past 60 due to the increasing divide between NQ and HQ stats.
what level do you need to be as a crafter to start doing the ishgard restoration
So I have a random question, what even is blue mage? I never see it in roulettes at all, it seems like they're some kind of rare species...
BLU is a "limited" job. They can't join random synced parties, only premades.
They also only go up to level 60 currently.
So what's the point of blue mage then exactly? It seems like a rather strange class in that case
for funsies :3
They're... I guess the best way to describe them is as a minigame job?
They can learn specific spells from a ton of different mobs, including some raid and dungeon bosses, all of which are theoretically available even if they were to be synced all the way down to level 1.
Yeah, I remember Blue mages in other FF games learned spells by getting hit by them
You just have to see them now
This, however, makes them both versatile (one of their spells allows them to "mimic" one of the three combat roles and enhances their related spells accordingly) and entirely overpowered for the kind of game this is.
So, if I'm understanding right, you just kinda play pokemon with spells and get them all?
and survive the fight
@whole frigate You need to clear most of the HW story before you can unlock it but once unlocked, you can start as early as level 20.
you can't for example, get hit by Final Sting and learn it if you die
The Brute Justice one is the best one
ah ok thank you
Final Sting is one of the hardest BLU spells to learn
Next question, is it worth it getting blue mage?
Depends on your definition of worth
If you're bored and want free poetics/allied seals
yeah that's something you'll have to decide for yourself
I suppose it is a complicated question, yeah
BLU is a side content disguised as a job
It's fun to play with, even if it's excluded from normal content.
BLU is a nice distraction and a great way to get allied seals eventually but ultimately it's, yeah, a distraction.
i definitely wouldn't recommend starting in on it until you're caught up on the main story
You cannot do current content with BLU, but BLU parties can break older contents
But it's not a job you'll ever be able to do current content with.
Yeah... on my main class on behemoth, they haven't even started Shadowbringers.
Although, yeah, watching full BLU clears of Savage content is all kinds of silly
I still need to pick up a ton of the BLU spells.
Including a couple of the ones that require you to beat all of the BLU arena bosses.
Not looking forward to that.
i put it on the backburner while i'm leveling all the other jobs :V
So in summary, Blumage is side content disguised as a job that cannot do random lobbies, and is an easy way to get poetics if needed?
Same. I leveled to 60 and got a bunch of the spells the first week after it was updated.
Pretty much, yes Jackson
It is really fun to use once you get a good catalogue of spells though
Gotcha, thanks for answering. I asked my buds and they just told me it was complicated and didn't elaborate xD
still dont know what poetics are kek
Non tradable Currency
I will worry about mainquest then guilds for crafting before poetics
Wtf this game uses poetry as currency
when do I know of mog store changes
Poetics are a semi-endgame currency earned from level 50/60/70 content and used to spend on level 50/60/70 gear
The Lodestone will have news of any sales or new additions
thanks mentor mentor
Super mentor
Wynne-sensei
I started Bot.
Well I started Bot. and Fishing. >_>
so hmm..
I guess I can try to finish those. lol
Who says you can't do them all?
True. lol
Mm
Etc
gotcha
I own the base game on PS4, if I wanna buy the xpacs, I only need to buy the most recent one (stormbringers)? And I get access to all content?
seems much easier that way. * sighs* I'll be working from home next week, so I'm probably not going to have much time to sink, but it'll be some.
Ty for answers : )
@unreal heron yes! Just buy Shadowbringers and you're set
Am I gonna have to do something crazy with the purchase code or something? @mossy current
No, just buy it and you automatically get the license on PS4
Thanks! Do ya know how long it is on sale?
Not sure, check the lodestone or social media accounts for end dates
I hope it still is 😵
Yep 40% off!
@mossy current if I wanted to play say machinist, I get a class to 50 then the guild opens up or whatever? Do the classes like start start at lvl 1?

Step 1, Beat A Realm Reborn, the base game, step 2, get to Ishgard, you'll know when you get there
Are the grey and blue exclamation point quests must all be done? Will i miss anything if i skip it?
Thank you @mossy current @leaden ginkgo. Brand new to the game, how much should I be focusing on professions?
I'd say stick with one for the msq because main story questions are going to be your main source of exp
So you don't want to spread that out too thin
Just remember your role in a party
Oh i see~ Since i stucked at a lavender blue quest something near gridania. Cant progress further on it lmao
I just unlocked the Sheltron skill on Paladin but I'm a little confused. Does it block like one autoattack? What about enemy channeled skills?
It blocks anything that hits it for the duration it's up
Sorry, I mean like crafting professions!
Crafting is entirely optional content
But you may find it easier to level one crafter up higher on some situations
so if the enemy is using an AOE attack that has a channel, I can just use sheltron and ignore it?
They're designed to be levelled up all at once since they share gear and (some?) crafting materials
Always dodge AoEs
It doesn't ignore it, blocking is like 15% damage reduction
ohh
Always be dodging aoes though
If shelltron was a mini HG, oh gods
Okay. Thanks guys. Well I bought the SHB xpac, so I guess I’m in for the long haul!
Have fun!
well hopefully sheltron becomes better as I level, because from what I know, it sounds kind of bad lol
being only a 4 second duration 15% damage reducer
I have a skill like that on Marauder. Me likey
Any midigation is good midigation
Arms length is probably the best dungeon trash midigation
imo
is that because slow also decreases their attack speed?
Yes
Rampart and Sentinel are your base ones
One at a time works best for your damage reduction ones
Reprisal is great too
can I use rampart + reprisal at the same time, or is separately better?
you can stack your mitigation tools at the cost of having a window where all your stuff is on cooldown
as you get more experience, you'll learn when and where you can get away with it
Also Shelltron doesn't look like much at first until you realize how often you'll have it available. 4/6s duration, sure, but you'll be generating a ton of oath guage and that 15% may just save your life.
for the 'hide weapons when sheathed' option, everyone else also won't be able to see my weapon? or just me
Applies to everyone.
everybody
ty
is it advisable to do side quests at all?
or should I just stick to MSQ for the time being?

because there are a ton of side quests in each new area
Is there any birthday event in ff14?
Nope
Alright, just making sure if I should make room for ff14 today
Friend is trying to buy ff14, he got shadowbringers but the code doesn't work. Does he need to buy the base game (ARR)?
I honestly can't remember.
where do I claim referral rewards? it was not sent to my delivery mogul?
iirc u only get stuff from the friend code thing when the guy that used it payed for minimum 1 month of sub
also the 30 free days dosent count for the veteran rewards
you have to shoot her with the cannon
I did
do I keep shooting her until she dies from cannons?
yes
¯_(ツ)_/¯
why is this locked
Joining a GC for the first time. Looks like it doesn't really matter which one I choose and I can switch as well. Should I just pick the one in the city of the job I'm leveling?
Is there an emote that does the head motion from cutscenes where WoL kinda tilts his head in confusion?
just test every expressions bro
Why would someone meld battle materia to gatherer gear
Materia slightly speeds up spirit bond speed
oh so a min maxer
They probably have them laying around
Doesn't matter what you meld
In the context of spirit bond farming for materia extraction
yeah, each materia melded regardless of tier/type adds +20% to spiritbond speed
I think the item being HQ also adds another 20%
There's also spiritbond potions, though I don't know how strong they are
is there any side quests that have things like unique clothes or something? because every one ive seen is just gil and exp
off the head theres the postmoogle quest that gives the hat
Not really. I do know one that comes to mind, which is the sidequest "Ant Juice", a level 68 or 69 sidequest in Rhalgr's Reach
!iglam Head Bandage
i mgiht do those
Head bandage is also dyeable
so you can just make an offbrand version of the nier thing too
There's also spiritbond potions, though I don't know how strong they are
@obsidian patio don't have exact number, but it is pretty potent
is it just me or is tonberry dead?
anyone wanna help summon okina in goblin plz dm me
Are there any good different crafting/gathering classes for a main black mage that just hit 30?
it's common to level them all at the same time so you can share gear among them
classes?
yeah
so now that I've hit 30, I should probably start leveling another class? Also, how would I do that without the main quests which are my main xp gain?
but if you want specifically crafters that make caster stuff, then probably weaver for most gear and carpenter for most canes
oh no don't start levelling another job
not unless you really want to
the problem with crafters is that you will probably also need goldsmith for a lot of trinkets and leatherworker for a lot of boots
and alchemist to make certain components
So they all need each other?
Besides Culinarian, the crafting classes can share a lot of materials.
pretty much yeah
early on though you should probably be fine with weaver, carpenter and botanist?
As an example, a chestpiece made by Armorer in the late game could need materials from itself, Goldsmith, Leatherworker, and Alchemist.
Uuuuuu I really suggest against leveling crafter/gatherer when ur new
Huh, why?
Cause its an investment
The story gives a bunch of free gear and leveling crafters up with low gil can be challenging/grindy.
Which a lot of new player find they're not ready to do
And end up broke with no idea how to make gil
==);
oof
Sure if you like it
But if you just want equip, its better to just do
cause like wynne said,
and class quest give every equip you need
Starting with gatherers on the other hand, is pretty nice since you can make a somewhat nice amount of gil from gathering raw materials with little gear investment.
take it from the man who levelled a bunch of crafters early on before finishing arr
The Marketboard is your main way of selling items to other players, yes.
dont do it my wallet was drier than the sahara
X'D
kk, thanks!
it will make you POOR
damn bro, i dont wanna be poor, that's for POOR PEOPLE
I aint POOR
The thing about this game is that crafter level alone is not enough to make gil... you need market knowledge too so...
It doesnt help that sellers are competitive and at best you'll get a general direction on what to sell but not the exact item
Even if they do give out item names, it'll either be common knowledge or they're done with that field

kk! Another question, should I just do main story quests or should I also do the sidequests in each area?
do msq until you hit a point where you cant continue bc of level
I've been doing mostly just main story because that's my fast exp
then do dailies and sidequests
is entirely skippable
eg my next quest needs level 69 but im at 68 so im doing sidequests right now
but aside from that
just stick with MSQ
unlocks something, so its highly recommended to do
also the main thing about crafters
👋 glhf
wait until youre high level on your main class
bye fellow weeaboos, I will return with newfound knowledge in spellcasting
or youll get locked out of certain tiers
eg i couldnt get Diremite webs to level weaver since my main class was too low
When should I start leveling a new class?
Any good macros for ninja on PS4
id saywait until you hit Heavensward
so you have the Diadem and stuff, thats apparently a lot easier
kk!
as someone who finally got WVR to 80, a lot of the struggle later in the process was finding (rather, spending a lot of gil on) materials that could be made by other crafter classes
In my personal experience, that is
it made me wish I had levelled at least leatherworker alongside it
For starter class, I highly suggest alc
yeah otherwise you have to go to the dreaded market board
and hoo boy do crafters love overcharging
Gotta make profit somehow!
this is a message to all crafters who overcharge by like 10x the material cost
u suck
@stable elk The only one I would suggest is one that automatically does Shukuchi on your current target, which would look something like this:
/ac "Shukuchi" <t>
/ac "Shukuchi" <t>
/ac "Shukuchi" <t>
/ac "Shukuchi" <t>
/ac "Shukuchi" <t>
/ac "Shukuchi"
/micon "Shukuchi"
This makes it become a pseudo gapcloser
the line that doesn't have <t> allows you to manually place it without a target selected.
Also you gave me your ninja controller setup yesterday can you explain it a little since I’m only lvl 45 I’m tryna figure how you use your rotations
@obsidian patio
I play melee a bit weird because I'm used to "clawing" my hand like some people would for Monster Hunter games.
I suggest having most of your main actions on the face buttons as those are more natural to hit without moving your hands.
with the slightly lesser stuff on the arrow/directional buttons
So for my bars, you could move the ninjutsu abilities to the L2-face buttons instead of keeping them on L2-dpad
I also try to force myself to only use one main crossbar, when you could use two or more with slight differences. Like the first one can be for single target and the second one can be for AoE
Controller is definitely finding out what works for you without straining your hands or having to take your eyes off the screen for too long.
As long as you can press the buttons you need to while not losing uptime on your actions pretty much anything can work.
You have your cross L2 d-pads with all trick attack is that for a particular reason?
To help me remember to use it.
Best way to store/carry treasure maps around?
Currently I have one in saddlebag and one in normal inventory, what else can I do?
one in each retainer
You can also have people mail you maps
And you can have one map open too
I think you can have up to 10 mail with unclaimed items in them?
either 10 or 20
Guys, i just subbed for the first 30 days but apparently im still able to play even though the # of sub days are at 0 and free gametime is gone as well
what are free companies?
So idk what i did wrong, but it said i already completed the sub payment
they're like guilds
Fc is like guild
How do i set it to be unsynced for a party finder?
ive got everything else ready
but im not sure which affects level sync
You have Undersized Party checked, which advertises the fact that you want to do an unsynced party
but to actually make it unsynced when you run it, you have to also go into Duty Finder settings and check Undersized Party there too
Hello, do blue quests always unlock something important or it can just unlock other yellow quests ?
ah okay thank you
usually optional dungeons, trials or featuers like glamour, dye, beast tribes.
Not basic side quests tho lol
I mean this one for example, -> https://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/wiki/Perchance_to_Hanami , what does it unlock ?
it appears to be side quest in link, but in game it's
It can be a middle quest I think
oh that's a new one haha
That eventually leads to the Namazu Beast Tribe for Crafters and Gatherers.
That appears to be required for the Namazu beast tribe
yeah, its the quest chain to unlock the namazu beast tribe as well as the dhoro illoh aetheryte
I mean the link doesn't make it clear, is there a better reference for what blue quests unlocks ?
and thanks for the help guys ❤️
Yeah it looks like Gamerescape doesn't use
for some of their pages.
I recommend Garland tools as that shows it more accurately.
i think it used to be a normal sidequest chain
until the namazu neast tribe released and it retroactively became
i see it happen with the scree questline in slitherbough as well
it was a
until the qitarl released. then it became a

That Garland tools website is neat
Hi all, I just bought the complete edition which it said that includes all expansion content. However when I checked the mogstation, it's still not active yet.
And this is what I bought.. hopefully i didn't buy the wrong one
Did you enter the code given?
Did you actually register the game key?
Eh there is a code?
Yep, you should get an email about it once the payment goes through
I'm sorry, but the email doesn't give any codes
When did you buy the game?
Crafter gear vs Raid gear. What are the benifits of crafter gear over Raid gear?
Well.. 15 minutes ago i think
It takes time for the payment to process
Crafted gear is good for getting your foot into the door
But raid gear is straight up better
Also one more question. How do you make money in this game with fishing and cooking
Sell raid food
@fresh lodge TY
@fresh lodge Hopefully yeah but.. i only received these 3 emails at the same time when I purchased the game
You just have to wait
ay so im kinda new to ffix and i finally got to the quest "It's probably pirates" and i need a party to start the dungeon is there a place in the sever i can ask people to help or nah
Just use Duty Finder, its quicker that way
mateus

oh damn

yea i would use duty finder or yell about it
sry
its find
@lethal schooner You don't get email
I can jump on my alt, be there in a minute
you could make some quick town friends and ask if they'd like to help you too, then party up for it
You get it on your square enix account
but i have been useing duty finder for an hour now
