In my opinion, ARR has some high points and low points. I liked fighting the big threats, but hated some of the in between busy work. Towards the end of ARR is where it gets more consistently interesting and then fantastic from HW onwards.

aetherochemical research facility gives the biggest amount of poetics for dungeons, 150. can also do blue mage carnival/log for poetics if you've got that leveled. Other dungeons to run are: Keeper of the Lake, Wanderer's Palace (hard), Amdapor keep (hard), Baelsar's Wall, Sohm Al(hard), and Ghimlyt Dark (these give 100 poetics per run)
can also look thru PF for first time bonus runs

@undone nova No, you can do it "unsynced" by going into your duty finder settings and clicking the "undersized party" option. This will allow you to go in at your current level on your own or with a party that you create of any size from 1-8 players.

How does the level 70 boost work, if I have a character at 80 and the 3 months is up will it be really slow to level after?

Road to 70? Even if your server lost the preferred status, you'll keep it for 90 days from the time you first made your character. If it hasn't been that long, any class/job you level will automatically have that boost until it hits 70 as well.
Without the buff it will definitely feel slower but it really isn't that bad.

the only crafters you can reasonably do without leveling the rest is culinarian and alchemist

hey guys, is ffxiv one of the more difficult mmos? i'm interested in playing a dps role, but i have a hand injury which is making it difficult to do complex things in mmos, like fast rotations or attacking while moving.

The emphasis is less on smashing your keyboard with skills like you do in WoW with my limited WoW experience. The game more focuses on the mechanics of a fight and having to do them correctly and this often involves dodging aoes a lot by moving
There are certainly some slower jobs you can pick up in the game like Black Mage which you might with that injury

They aren't that fast with their skills and they tend to just stand still and do damage and only move when they have to and are ranged so you don't have to keep staying close to the boss

2.1-2.2 are easily the longest most boring part. Once you're around the Leviathan stuff, it starts picking up again. With the latter half of 2.4 and basically all of 2.5 being a huge swell in momentum leading in to HW.
