I heard BLM is good at AoEs, but it feels kinda underwhelming? Fire II drains my MP too quickly for too little damage
Am I doing something wrong? Is low level BLM just bad at AoEs?

@celest bison Once you activate TCJ, you can't move or it deactivates prematurely. Basically what you do from there is input any three sign combination you need but hit the Ninjutsu skill in between each Mudra input. For example. Ten > Ninjutsu > Chi > Ninjutsu > Jin > Ninjutsu. Which will fire off Fuma Shuriken, Raiton, and then Suiton in sequence.

The reason they're so expensive is how they're acquired. If I remember correctly, the general purpose dyes are found only in retainer quick ventures.
And, yeah, the colors are the same. It's just the means of getting them that's different.

So, okay. They gutted the complexity of astrologian's cards, and now the gameplan appears to be get 3 seals and then Divination a party or do the 8% damage buff to whoever is topping your DPS chart. In addition, Essential Dignity the tank and Gravity away.

@echo mason That's kinda tricky. We have someone in JP doing a census but that's only on data that can be confirmed like TEA kills and savage clear rates. You'll probably have to rely off asking people who play on those servers to find out things like server specialty and server language preference.

@echo mason It's mostly up to you, especially since cross-world visit is a thing you can use to visit friends on the same data-center. The language preference of a server mostly matters when making in-game friends that you might want to see often or being in a close fc community. Though here, since you claim that your friends are on Cerberus of the Chaos data center, I might recommend transferring there out of Shiva of the Light data center at least to a server on the Chaos data center.

I can get you, though I can't help out much with an introduction or investigation as I'm mostly on the North American data servers so my knowledge of the European data servers is kinda moot. I'd recommend asking both your friends and asking around about servers that are on the same data center as your friends. Although the reddit and reddit discord has a majority based off the NA data centers, there should some people who can offer a perspective and some troves of information lying around

For the start you can just make one of everything in your crafting list with the items that the guilds sell
once you get to higher levels you can do Ishgard restoration/leves

but yeah basically assuming you hit level 20 so you can do Ishgard restoration (or leves if you want) you want to do that most of the time. and bearing in mind that making and turning things in high quality often gives you more xp than if you hand in something normal quality

The only real RNG is if the weapon drops, there's no RNG variants of weapons like having a higher item level or more melding slots.
There are crafted equipment too, but they're more as a catch-up tier or to use for an early ilvl advantage at the start of raid tiers.

I recommend crafting HQ gear for yourself at breakpoints (40, 60, 70, 80) or if you can't HQ it, ask someone else to do it for you while you provide the materials. At 60 you can get scrip gear, but I haven't looked into the specifics. If you meet the stats for the 20/21 macro, you can slough it throught to 41-43, where the new crafted gear (mythril, I think?) can be used. @little needle

You can technically craft your own gear, but the Main Story Quests give you gear anyways, so you don't need to bother with it. Honestly, you could 100% the story without leveling a dingle crafter or gatherer.

I would wait with leveling crafter/gatherer till u are done with your msq since u need to unlock regions anyway and yeah for 1 class/job msq gives enough gear while u do it

Also zax, make sure you do your class and job quests! In the top left corner of the screen, you should have your current Main Story Quest (MSQ for short) displayed. Under that, you can see the name of another quest if you're at level 5, 10, 15 etc. That's your class quest that tells you more about your chosen class, and at level 30, can upgrade you to your job, which is really important to do. You can level other classes later, but I don't think you should do so or else you'll overwhelm yourself. @quick quartz

Play how you want has been a model of any game I play however this is final fantasy 14 I've seen people not understand the concept of rotation get to level 60, so I'd rather learn and get advice 1st

The wonderful thing in this game is that nothing is going anywhere. Want to spend a week just crafting? MSQ will wait for you. Want to unlock a class and level it to where you can continue questing with it? Your previous class will just sit there patiently, no progress lost whatsoever. Want to do side quests? Nor the side quests nor the MSQ will disappear under any circumstances. (An important exception is seasonal events, the current one being Hatching-Tide aka Eorzean Easter. Go finish that because it isabsolutely going away at the 13th.)
