If you're looking for what items to sell, then that's very server dependent and something you generally have to research yourself.
My general suggestions are looking at easily craftable furniture and glamour items, along with HQ items that are traded in for crafter/fisher leves
Hell, sometimes regular vendor items like a few minions and orchestrion rolls can sometimes sell for more than what you can buy them for.

Most of the Resistance weapons generally don't beat the crystarium ones unless the crystarium weapons have godawful stats that your class wants to avoid, like SkS for Dancer.
and even then the single point of weapon damage and more primary stats probably makes the crystarium weapon always better

Blue weapons are more powerful then HQ white weapons quite often.
Blue weapons/Armor are the highest grade apart from purple. (Purple is the highest Grade)
Purple > Blue/HQ Green > HQ White/Green > Pink > NQ White.

Item Level only is an indication on how powerful the gear can be, i agree with Kael about the stats, those are more important to look at. (Higher iLvL means higher stats in general, but not always)

Typically you're going to need to have your squadron members at least a few levels higher than the flagged missions in order to get the right kind of stat layouts.
Either that, or you can do extensive retraining to redistribute your existing stat points.

@leaden ginkgo You're unable to join an FC if you're on a trial account but as soon as you buy the game you can join FCs as early as level 1. The mentor program is a thing, yeah. There's a chat channel, the novice network, in which mentors can communicate with new players to provide help.

Since then, assuming you've been gone since before Shadowbringers dropped: Tanks got reworked. Their kits are all relatively the same, functionally, and aggro management is much easier. Healers were simplified. They still have differences but are much easier to pick up. Most of the DPS classes had a lot of fluff removed. Two new jobs have been added with Shadowbringers. Those being Dancer, a ranged physical DPS, and Gunbreaker, a tank. Crafting and gathering classes are much easier to get into and leveling them is incredibly fast now. @north venture
