That's still a massive number of hotbar slots available if you only have the first three hotbars as non-shared. Like if you're actually using all of them somehow then fine but I'm just making sure that's actually the case here haha. Keep in mind you can always use text commands for emotes too, or things like teleport/return/logout or whatever, instead of needing a hotbar slot for them

Damage happens in ranges. It can crit/direct hit/both, and also has some variance outside of that. A better weapon will increase all damage you do, but if it's a small upgrade you might have some hits that roll especially low, that are lower than the higher rolls from the older weapon

The shared ones should be the ones you put emotes/macros/whatever else you want on. The non-shared ones should be the job-specific spells/skills/abilities, which you generally don't need more than 3 hotbars really on any given job

@lyric warren yeah the reason why I mention is like, if you only have 3 non-shared hotbars, that leaves 7 more that aren't shared, which is 7x12 = 84 slots to use for whatever you might want

'When can I get my first mount?'

The quest that allows you to use mounts, 'My Little Chocobo' is unlocked by completing the level 20 main story quest 'The Company You Keep'. The quest is located at the Grand Company base you chose and you'll need to buy the Chocobo Issuance from your Grand Company Quartermaster. You can get the 200 needed Grand Company seals by doing the main story quest that comes after 'The Company You Keep'.

'Are there any differences between mounts?'

Besides looks, all mounts are the same speed along with being able to fly in the expansion zones. Some mounts allow multiple people to ride at once.

'Can I make my mount faster?'

Zones have one or two ranks of mount speed that increase the ground speed of mounts. The first rank comes from completing specific quests in the main scenario quests, with the second rank coming from Riding Maps which are bought with either Allied Seals, Centurio Seals, or Bicolor Gemstones. Mount Speed Boosts do not increase the flying speed of mounts.

I’d say medium to medium-high, personally. A lot of SCH’s healing comes from management of their cooldowns as their GCD heals are expensive to use often

DoW/M, DoL and DoH are all independent systems of each other. Feel free to do whichever you want in any order although you should focus on finishing the MSQ/getting your combat job to 80, then go back and do DoL then DoH

since you wont have access to xpac areas until you do the msq

dol has nothing to do with combat classes

I know, but I mean. Say I go to an area to do some quest - if I'm in an area where nodes can pop, wouldn't it be reasonable to switch class to do some gathering? Instead of traveling twice at a later point?

this isnt like wow or gw2, you can go back and gather at any time. the nodes dont disappear

theyre available 24/7 and always in the same places

also most arr things are pretty cheap on the market board

for what its worth, unless you're doing the new firmament crafting you wont have access to for a while, you dont even really need to gather from the overworld nodes. Most items are dirt cheap from them because its old content

If you want to level your gatherers, do Leve missions instead which are like quests for gatherers

no its just a way to say you dont really get to take home what you gather but you also get a giant experience drop at the end

the class quests do unlock stuff later... but not leves

which stacks with the level 80 one for a maximum of 7 or 8 gp a regen

Krakka roots, Tantalplants, Curiel roots, etc. There are a few. Krakka roots are probs the best choice imo. They do need to be in a stable however.

But after you've maxed out your level with krakka roots you need to feed it something else

Thavnairian Onions. Feed one to your birb after it's capped exp, then take it outside and smack one thing. Doing so will unlock the following ranks. You'll have to do that with each subsequent rank to 20 however.

But once it's capped at a lower level I guess you gotta take it out in order for it to level

Yeah that's true for all levels. Once it's exp bar is filled, roots or other food can not increase it's level. You have to take it out and kill one thing.

@onyx kiln And as for desynth, I'm not too sure on that since they changed the minimum requirements for it and removed the caps iirc. I mean sure you can do it and you'll get more and better items for it but outside of the desynth only items, there isn't much reason to do so in my opinion.
