to learn any jobs that doesn't start from level 1, you can just remove all skills off the hotbar, find a striking dummy, then add skills back onto the hotbar in chronological order as you use it on the dummy or yourself while reading their tooltips

take note that Arcanist, the base class for Scholar, is a DPS class

At that point, you'll gain access to the current "endgame" content consisting of a handful of max level dungeons (relatively easy), the Copied Factory raid (moderately difficult until you learn the fights), the Eden raid (first four somewhat difficult, current four can be a challenge even on Normal difficulty), and the current EX primals.

Even the Extreme versions of the ARR primals aren't terribly difficult to clear at this point, especially as you're unlikely to find groups willing to do them synced.

I should clarify, since we've been using the terms interchangably, but Alexander (60 raid), Omega (70 raid), and Eden (80 raid) are what we call "Normal Raids". They're 8-man content consisting of 12 individual boss instances.

Crystal Tower (50 raid), Void Ark (60 raid), Return to Ivalice (70 raid), and YorHa (80 raid) are what are called "Alliance Raids". They are 24-man content (3 "alliances" of 8 players each) consisting of 3 large-scale instances containing an average of 5 bosses and a large amount of trash mobs in between.

'When can I get my first mount?'

The quest that allows you to use mounts, 'My Little Chocobo' is unlocked by completing the level 20 main story quest 'The Company You Keep'. The quest is located at the Grand Company base you chose and you'll need to buy the Chocobo Issuance from your Grand Company Quartermaster. You can get the 200 needed Grand Company seals by doing the main story quest that comes after 'The Company You Keep'.

'Are there any differences between mounts?'

Besides looks, all mounts are the same speed along with being able to fly in the expansion zones. Some mounts allow multiple people to ride at once.

'Can I make my mount faster?'

Zones have one or two ranks of mount speed that increase the ground speed of mounts. The first rank comes from completing specific quests in the main scenario quests, with the second rank coming from Riding Maps which are bought with either Allied Seals, Centurio Seals, or Bicolor Gemstones. Mount Speed Boosts do not increase the flying speed of mounts.

Anything you cast with a cast bar will give you dualcast

My chocobo, who has a couple points in tank stance, won't attack anything, let alone use their abilities to generate emnity. They just stand next to me and flap their wings wildly and do nothing.

Any would do in Aether and Primal, Crystal has some massive servers like Balmung and Mateus but those are kind of hubs and the rest of the servers on Crystal aren't as big. I think that's fairly accurate. I'm not even sure if total population should even matter to you since you'd just make friends when you join a free company

You should totally join a preferred server though since that gives you a double xp gain up to level 70 and it lasts a good while

Just do your best to follow mainstory and every time you see side quests in an area check them for gear pieces

as they may be direct upgrades to what you have

Piety gives you more mana regen. tbh not really useful, most issues can be fixed by adjusting your mana useage.
Direct hit gives you more big bops to your attack spells, which should be what you do whenever you dont heal.
You choose which one you'd prefer. Or use cabbage/coffee alternatively

I don't know why, but every so often FFXIV will suddenly take it's time launching the launcher, launching the game, going to the character screen, and logging into the server. After that every thing else is fine. It takes so long that the system registers it as "non-responsive" at times. Nothing short of a full reboot seems to fix it, but it always ends up coming back.

"What is Glamour and how do I unlock it?"

Glamour is the process of changing an equipment's look into a different item with the use of Glamour Prisms. You can unlock the ability to glamour by doing the level 15 quests "If I Had a Glamour" in Vesper Bay, West Thanalan. Although not required to unlock Glamour, you can unlock the ability to dye gear with the nearby quest "Color Your World". You can get the Orange Juice needed by talking to the nearby Merchant & Mender and choosing "Purchase Items".

"How do I glamour? Where do I get more Prisms?"

Glamouring is done by right clicking (Square or X on controllers) on the equipment you want to have a different look and choosing the option "Cast Glamour". After clicking this you choose the item you want the appearance on the right half of the menu that opened up. You can get more Glamour Prisms by either crafting them after completing the quest "Absolutely Glamourous", buying them from your Grand Company Quartermaster, or by buying them from the marketboard.
