there's little reason to do eden's gate savage, and few people that will be doing it. The ones that would be doing it, would be doing it through PF, not through DF. If you're having problems finding people to run it with you/listings you can join, make a PF yourself to try to get some folks to help out

@icy finch When you say together do you mean like traditional Co op? Yes, you can progress together however there are separate instances where you both would need leave your party and finish those instances alone. But you can party back up and continue on your way afterwards. The other solo instances outside of main scenario quests are (class/job quests)
I'm currently on StormBlood content and till then that's been the case. However I've been playing on and off for about 5 years and have had my own work around on discord. For example I'm playing with my partner who's new to FF14 and they'd screenshare moments when they're on their own instance or vise versa so you don't really lose the emersion of being "together" so yeah majority can be played and explored together only solo instances which are every now and then or everytime you unlock new quests for class/job quests.

- Quests and leves to 20, then Firmament all the way to 80
- If you just want to wet your feet, I recommend either CUL or WVR. Both are fairly self-sufficient, CUL more than VWR. Otherwise, BSM just because the guildmaster is cute.
- I'd say you can make decent money without all those. Raiders will always need food and potions and tinctures. Lazy crafters will always want HQ quest turn-in items. Roleplayers will always want glamour.

from the balance, i would also suggest joining and looking at their various BiS sets up. But that said, melds don't exactly make or break things in the long run so you can meld as you like. If you prefer spell speed, you can focus with spell speed.
Should note, that while whm does have very good tools to deal with mana, piety is still something you want to make sure you have enough of to comfortably deal with whatever content you're running (generally going to worry about it more in savage/ultimate fights than anything else)

Those are all random raid drop tokens. You usually need sets of 2 or 4 depending on what piece of gear they turn in

Ah. I suppose White Mage weaknesses for example are, as Vinyl says, no buffs that are really useful to the party except a 10 second Temperance, which gives 10% Damage Reduction.
But White Mages have superior healing abilities.

WHM: High personal DPS and the king of regen, they're the ones who will get you from 0 to 100 quickly but lack a variety of mitigation tools, only able to give a single shield every 30ish seconds, they also have a wide toolkit of instant cast heals for when you need to heal while moving.

Yes, White Mages are very good to be be able to heal while on the move.

You can't do Cure III while running, per say, but if you instant cast, you can cast any kind of AOE heal while running.
Medica II gives everyone in your party instant regeneration.
And you can stack it with Regen itself, and Asylum allows even greater healing. Assize is a really good instant heal spell as well if you're right in the middle of the group.

SCH: SCHs greatest asset is the fairy, its a pet that heals independently and comes with a wide variety of skills to help deal with healing and mitigating damage, while it doesn't heal much, its free. SCH is also the king of mitigation, able to prevent damage by providing strong single target shields or somewhat weaker group shields, while they have difficulty healing people from low HP back up to full, this is offset by the party just taking less damage. They also have a party wide crit buff

AST: AST is unique in that it actually had 2 stances that determines the effect of their abilities, Diurnal adds a regen effect to their spells while Nocturnal adds a shielding effect to their spells, once you pick a stance you're locked into it until you get out of combat. Their other unique mechanic is the card system, you draw a card and give it to a player, buffing their damage, as you play cards you collect seals and once you get 3 you can activate a party wide damage buff, while AST has low personal DPS and isn't as good as WHM or SCH in their respective specialties, the damage buff from cards more then makes up for their slight shortcomings.

I don’t have all the tanks leveled up all the way but my personal feel is that PLD is very safe with lots of defensive cooldowns and decent mobility at 80
WAR is good for chasing high dps tanking, as well as GNB having a good rotation that lines up well with their damage buff cooldowns
Caveat with DRK; that shield and the buff you get with it won’t drop into your toolbox until you hit 80

combat macros are strongly discouraged because one they don't queue, and its easy to mess them up if you press another ability in the middle of it

So it's very possible you lose casts over a fight

so they're not that good to use
there's a few "qol" macros that are ok to use, like ground aoe macros (salted earth, asylum, sacred soil) to make them less annoying
but in general, don't use them

There used to be a way in WoW to make a castsequence macro that would swap skills with each button push so you could load a 1-2-3 combo onto them but as far as I know there isn't a similar macro command for FFXIV

Is it possible to get someone's charcter appearance data? I know u can do witj Garland for npc. But what about just random people on ff14? What if I Want to use my friends appearance data for my retainer and they dint have it saved?

@leaden ginkgo no way to AFAIK. As for Botanist they gather materials for mainly Weaver, Alchemist, Carpenter, and Culinarian

yeah there are multiple ways to level crafters and gatherers
I am doing the slow and grindy method of actually going out and just farming stacks of materials from stuff, because your retainers can only be sent on targetted gathering runs if you yourself have gathered it before
but my crafters are coasting through the 20s all the way up to the 60s on ishgard turn ins

you shouldn't be able to see it on the turn in list if you aren't high enough to turn it in
but yeah if you're below its level try seeing if bumping up to the same level will let you turn it in
if that doesn't do it... /shrug
maybe try logging out and back in again?
the 'try turning it off then back on' approach to bugfixing

There's a bit of a malicious edge being lent to the Skip Potions regarding ARR (SE won't fix ARR because they want to sell more skip potions!!!1!11!1shift+1!!) when its most likely just a side effect of old legacy code being hard to handle

My only tip for ARR is to pick gil over gear then make use of the gear you get in dungeons

If you prioritise gil over money you should have like 2 mil by the end of HW if you don't spend too much

you want to have one gatherer retainer and one combat retainer and have them match the classes you're actually going to focus on! i made the mistake of maining BLM and making my combat retainer a BRD
