They all make materials that each crafter needs
For example of you want to make a robe as a weaver you might need some leathers from leatherworker, some goldsmith metals, and maybe some alchemist stuff to make some of the materials
You can't just do one crafter unless you use Ishgard restoration from level 25-80 and even then at level 80 you can't do anything with it without spending loads on materials you could have crafted if you got the others to max too

Neo Ishgardian is just to speed up for gear to 480 ilvl the stuff you usually want is a mix of neo ishgardian and eden verse raid loot for ilvl 480 and allegory tome upgrades for ilvl 490 and that's about as far as you can go if you don't plan to do any current content Extreme Trials or Savage raids

every class has a serviceable AoE for use in dungeons, NIN is no exception. it can aoe. there's nothing about playstyle wrt aoe. either you use it when it's needed or you don't.
as for ST damage it's not the greatest solo but contributes nicely to the team with trick attack

that's a really oddly specific question. IMO it really does not matter, you shouldn't care about aoe performance when picking a class. Off the top of my head I know NIN has more variety/cooldowns when it comes to aoe, so I think it would do more damage in a mobbing scenario

I've got an 80 SCH/SMN and GNB at 74. I wanted a physical DPS and I've read (on Reddit, so with a pinch of salt) that BRD and NIN are good classes to bring to groups. I play with 3 RL friends regularly. I like rounded classes that bring stuff to the party hence why I'm enquiring. I guess I could go and read the spell list and read about rotations but I was just looking for feedback.

should work but if its something u like to do i cant say, mostly u can say as tank/heal run your daily roulettes then your highest possible dungeon and as dps its run daily roulette and highest dungeon too or if the que time sucks u can go spam potd floor 51-60 till lvl60/61 and hoh floor 21-30 for lvl61-70/71
or if your gc squad is levelled u can use them to run dungeons and grind exp
also u can do your challenge log for extra exp

Personally, I like the "Brand New" gear sets. They have a clean appearance, even if they're grey and undyeable.

The "Brand New" gear is level 15, so if you're over that you can equip or glamour it.
Under 15... there's not really a lot of good looking caster gear in general.
Our best appearances don't really start showing up until higher levels.

Oh, definitely get the Brand New gear then. The MSQ will lead you to it before your first dungeon.
Just do all of the tutorial instances, and you'll get a set of four left-side pieces and a ring that gives you an xp boost under level 30.

generally people expect their own group healers to heal them
only people you should bother cross healing at main tank(maybe), or if you see someone in front of you at low hp(if you're using a mouse, with a pad no idea if you can target that easily)

I like ranged classes. I've healed in other mmorpgs but also really like dps.

Well if you go arcanist you can unlock Scholar and Summoner which is a pet based healer and pet based caster
Not sure how all other MMOs work but healing in this game isn't so much you casting heals every second but just healing when you have to and DPSing when you aren't (though your DPS isn't going to be that high anyway)

AST is the fill-a-niche healer. If you want to use shields, you put yourself in Nocturnal Sect. If you want regens, Diurnal Sect. This is also so you can avoid doubling up with a WHM or SCH in a trial or raid, since double shields used to be incredibly subpar. ... and by subpar I mean oh god help us please we're dying these shields aren't lasting long

As a primarily-AST healer main, I feel like Noct Sect is fairly weak. Diurnal Sect will make you feel like a healing god, though not as potent of a god as WHM.
Nocturnal Sect used to expressly say 'does not stack with Galvanize' but thank god they changed it so it can so TECHNICALLY a SCH/Noct AST isn't going to make health-bar-whackamole an exersize in high blood pressure stress activities

All the myriad ways that Diurnal Sect can apply a regen get their own unique buff so you don't have to worry about overwriting your own Heal Over Time spells OR a WHMs
