No once you are able to get lvl 5+ gear from the vendors you can discard your weathered tools and sell the lvl 1 gear

They are all really easy to pick up and learn, the hard part of being a tank is actual universal tank skills like knowing how to rotate the boss properly, tank swaps, and whatnot

Gladiator/Paladin I guess you can call the easiest since it has a lot of defensive cooldowns but really that's being picky at that point

also the class -> job advancement mechanic is largely a legacy feature at this point. Originally in order to qualify for a job you needed 30 levels of the base class AND levels in certain other classes (for example you needed 30 levels of Gladiator and 15 levels of Conjurer to qualify for Paladin), but that's long gone

It's not a bad way to level up for the low levels, doing each item for the first time gives a nice bonus too
But you do want to do leves after a while
If you have joined a grand company at this point you can turn in items there for good xp too

Tanking adds in dungeon: cycle your defensive abilities around so you have defensive buff up at all time, don't use them all in one go. Try not to move too much unless necessary. Use AOE to keep the adds aggro on you
Tanking boss in dungeon/trial: same stuff with defensive cooldown, but try to save some for the harder hitting attack (this is referred as tank-buster). For some mechanics, you would need to move the boss around for a lil bit.

@leaden ginkgo it adds a few extra dialogue choices and adjusts a few of the later cutscenes, but is not strictly required. As for queue time Crystal tower is fairly fast due to the Alliance Raid roulette and also being generally the fastest of the 24-mans to run

but you'll still have to do the steps again without any shortcuts

If you want to farm specific fish, you want to remember their tug strength and timing
For example, Fish A has weak tug at 10s
