Facet gear for crafters is currently the best (when fully melded) and that probably isn’t changing until 5.3 or 5.4. Those pieces are probably required to be able to HQ the 5.2 combat sets. Scrip gear is a good stepping stone to be able to make Facet gear on your own but it would probably be much faster to buy the pieces from MB.

MSQ progress has nothing to do with what server you're on. It's tied to the character.
If you skip the MSQ, it will be completed for that character no matter what else you do with that character - transfer servers, change their name, fantasia them. the skipped MSQs are completed forever.

My guess is it sometimes skips the WN causing the failure. And the early completions with excess dura would be potentially skipping one of the touches. You should be able to reliably circumvent both issues by making the wait times longer for safety @gritty oracle

So I'm an OG ARR player who didn't have too much time beyond leveling my character to 50 (Bard) and doing a bit here and there..obviously the game has come leaps and bounds since then and I've been looking for an MMO to play with good depth to crafting but also modern enough..
Currently settled on Runescape but tbh I like that this is a lot more modern. My questions would be:
- Is it a viable strategy to level crafters to 80 and make money off it? How time consuming is this?
- Can you sustain yourself via combat gil-wise in order to buy cosmetics like dyes, glamours etc?
- How are the catch-up mechanics? I know there's a pay-to-max service on Mogstation to level but as someone with maybe 2 hours a night Mon-Fri to play, will I be severely limited to play the "endgame" content? I'm not looking to be part of a static but to even get the items/relevant glamour?

@jovial garnet the only macro I'd particularly recommend for Scholar is one to place Sacred Soil for controller users.

and Gilgamesh is still a very active server, it's just no longer the place "to be" since there's world visit and datacenter-wide party finder
