@sleek peak I recently just started playing FFXIV for the first time and I main a Paladin (Gladiator at lower levels) and here is how I viewed the leveling process through ARR from that perspective: Gaining EXP, especially if you roll on a realm which gives an EXP buff, is insanely easy. To be honest, I had to split the EXP between a WAR and PLD just so I wouldn't get too far into the 50's while finishing the MSQ. Right now I am at the very end of the normal MSQ and only have the patch versions of ARR left and I find it a struggle to not heavily outpace everything in terms of EXP.
So, just pick whatever you want, because you will be drowning in so much EXP you might actually want to level a second job up if you want me to even somewhat on-level with the other expansions MSQ.

If you have a crafter or gatherer you can buy one of the items used in the exchange with scrips. If not, Ishgard leves are probably your best bet.
Crafting/gathering scrips are basically poetics for crafters and gatherers.
Certain turn ins give scrips which have their own shop

Anyway the thing I would do would be one particular 58 leve. Dance, Magic Dance. It'll take you to the Hinterlands. Start the leve and do a quick sweep for a treasure chest. No chest, abandon leve and restart.

Potd is better for dps when thr queue is shorter. Its best to do your roulettes then spam the highest lvl available lvling dungeon. Sub 20 you could argue potd would be more efficient but its pretty quick to get to 16 for roulettes with the other stuff available

If you hace access to tomes of goetia you can use those to purchade crafting materials as well

Hi, i played this game for a good while in late 2019, however something that bothered me back then and still do (as i do wish to return to this game) is are there any co-op content? i know there are plenty of stuff to do with people but is there anything to do with a friend? i used to play this alongside a friend however instead of playing together we ended up just going through the story at our own pace and the game (at least from what i remember) never introduced something you can do with a friend.

The way I explain this to my friends, is playing through the game from the beginning with friends is kind of like reading the same book together with different copies.. You both have the same experience, you pay attention to your page and work at your own pace. You'll hit points though where you can experience things together, such as dungeons, but have other points where you need to solo content to progress. The end goal is to finish the book, and talk about it together, and this is where you'll hit the grinding/farming part of the game. So don't get discouraged that you have separate content to do most of the time first, you're still reading the book!

There are two types of missions - one where you send four recruits out on an independent mission similar to retainers, and one (which is unlocked after a certain point) where you can take three of your squadron members into a dungeon, similar to Trusts in Shadowbringers.
Squadrons are a team of NPCs that you can recruit by completing various types of content (it's random whether completing content will actually recruit one).

The majority of their abilities are an instant cast from what I've seen and played with the exception of the Flamethrower and Bioblaster which might either be a channeled cast or just a regular cast time, haven't tinkered around with that stuff too much yet tbh.

Hi everyone, is there any optional items you could recommend? something that is important or helpful from the optional items pages? i been thinking about getting something from there, but i have no idea if it's all 100% cosmetic? or if you get something better ingame for free at some point (still doing story)

The only "good" optional item is the cloud bike which is also the only mount to come with a speed up boost by default

the only things that are potentially more useful are the story/leveling skips (generally don't recommend those for new players) and the sds fenrir to a small extent as it comes with the first tier for riding speed automatically unlocked but you gain those thru the main scenario quest anyway

@twilit arch @slate arrow Thanks for the info, yeah i am not looking into skipping the story, don't like doing that in general, but the bike do seem interesting, will take a look at it, and i guess the speed boost is unlocked as i play the game which is a good thing, i can wait for the speed boost.
