@near path if it's the SMN unlock quest in Southern Thanalan, there is a way to the south side of the zone without going through the high level area in the middle
I guess the game assumes that you've already been taken to the south side as part of the MSQ, although that doesn't happen until around the level 30 quests

So if the enemies move, or even if you move your camera, their order changes. Mobs with the larger spikey icon are almost always part of a quest. The quest gives you a quest item that is used to weaken the mob down to normal strength so you can kill it.
And yes you can max out all trees for companion chocobo, though it takes quite a while to do so

So playing on controller, I pretty frequently have this issue where I go to use Dragoon's tether on somebody via soft targeting on the party list, but because they're not close enough it doesn't fire and the target stays on them which tends to screw up my rotation either because I didn't notice I'm still targeting them or because I have to retarget whatever I'm fighting. Don't suppose there's some obscure option to make soft targeting pop back to your hard target even if an ability doesn't go off, is there?
It's usually not an issue if there's a melee dps and I have my party list set up to put them on the bottom for quickly cycling to them, but recently I've had a ton of instances where all the other dps are ranged

Crafting is the best money maker outside of selling content runs for Gil if you know what to do.
Though with that being said it's not required at all to do.
And Crafting requires a good amount of investment gil/time if you want to do endgame crafting

Final Fantasy is a very story-driven game. Almost everything is locked behind the main story
Endgame wise for combat, its weekly 8man raids, 8 man savage raids, 24 man alliance raid and new relic zone in the next patch.
FFXIV has its latest patch about to release in 2 weeks so player numbers are expected to surge in the short-term.
PVP still exists but its niche and has its own set of dedicated players. Pugging it might be tough for your queue times.

I noticed there is a big difference in the collectors edition for the complete edition. The normal complete edition is 35 pounds while the collectors edition is double that at 70. If I'm just getting into the game, does the world I make my character on make much of a difference? I know it's probably best to just play the game and not worry too much, but I don't wanna get into a character and find out I can't do x or y because I'm on a quieter world? 👀

the duty finder pulls people from all servers in your data center, so world isn't that important
in general, we recommend new players pick a preferred world to start on for the road to 70 buff since its very good

You can also world visit any other server in your datacenter. The only thing hardlocked to server is your free company (AKA guilds)

i presume you mean the #translations-and-liveletters its supposed to be real time but its rate limited so it will slowly catch back up over time

That depends. 200k can be got together fairly quick, but if you want to get a house, you better save it and craft/grind it out for yourself.

@strong falcon fflogs require ACT to upload. if there are logs, at least one person in the party has ACT so you can guess a number there.
