would anyone perchance know of where i could find someone to marry my lalafel so i can get the items from it ?
Does Priority Seal Allowance (the +15% GC seals item from lv50 squad missions) increase the seals I gain from turning in for supply and provisioning? What constitutes a "duty" here isn't clear.
The seal bonus applies to anything that grants you duty status
So for example, Leveling Roulette, Grand Company Leves, and FATES (until stormblood)
@raw quest There's a subreddit for it but it's fairly dead. You could always try the official forums
cool, thanks
yep
They do turn off after a while so someone in your FC needs to re-enable them periodically

yep
No, those three are being stored for later.
you can have up to 20 actions stockpiled
Can someone recommend a Dragoon Leveling guide or a Rotation guide? Im not quite sure how to use my attacks effectively
Or, when I should use which skill
!faq drgguide
Saving the Dragoon by Eve Malqir: http://tinyurl.com/drgguide5-0
Oh that works too lol
Remove all the skills you don't have and that's your rotation
Thank you!
do mount speeds differ mount from mount
The SDS Fenrir mount has a natural Speed Boost 1 but every other mount gets that eventually as you progress through story anyway so it doesn't make too much of a difference.
ok I see
and Cloud's Bike has an MSQ buff?
that's interesting
so if you're doin an MSQ it goes faster?
not exactly.
it naturally has the speed buff the story would give.
you don't need to actively do the story to have the buff active
But when you do get the speed boost from each story zone all of the other mounts become as fast as the bike. Also the bike is a Mogstation item. A little pricey too.
hmm
**little pricey **is putting it mildly but yes
confused on this MSQ buff
so
if I'm correct
MSQ gives a speed buff in general for mounts?
Right
But in portions
So for example you'll do MSQ and unlock some zone speed increases around level 22. You'll do more MSQ and get the speed increases for other zones
And by the time you finish 2.0 you'll have all the speed increase on all the ARR zones
HW and SB zones work the same way. You unlock speed boosts as you progress the story. ShB zones are different but no need to worry about that quite yet.
You still get the MSQ mount speed increases in ShB. It's just the second speed increase isn't hunts though?
There are three mount speeds. The base speed is where you start, and it's very slow. The "one star" speed upgrade is earned in each zone after completing the portion of the MSQ that's associated with that zone.
No MSQ mount speed boost in ShB Cal, 1-star is from bicolor gemstones
I know that Rowena's star bonus resets every 12 hours, but do the turn-in item list change?
Oh right
which just requires you to do six FATEs in each zone effectively.
i saw someone mentioned espresso being one of the easy one for yellow scrip farming, but it isn't on my list.
And then the 2-star, max mount speed is unlocked through hunt currency in all zones except Shadowbringers zones, where two-star speed is not possible at this time.
Not too complex
Travel > Mount speed
god bless those NPCs getting some use
Travel > Mount speed, like I said.
What sort of effort do the anima weapons involve?
mainly just grinding your daily roulettes for the boatloads of poetics you'll need for various steps
and a light grind step which amounts to either solo-spamming level 50 dungeons or running the 9th savage instance of alexander with other players
also 80k GC seals or gil to buy those items
Anima is the easiest of the three relics. Zodiac requires a lot more non-tomestone grinding and a hefty amount of gil depending on how self-sufficient you want to be

And Eureka is quite literally its own content area
Thanks
ohh
I thought you were saying travelling over mounts
yeah I ain't got any mounts yet
ok, once I get the mount, I'll try to understand all those speed things
thanks again
How do I join a mate's party who's mid-instance, their tank just left?
You'd have to enable the "in-progress" option for the duty finder, queue for their dungeon, and be lucky you get into theirs
and that too `
EY I got lucky and it worked
Is there a way to play with a friend on another data center ?
No
The only option would be to transfer to an another datacenter
which costs money, unless you are in a congested server transferring to a preferred one
Hey, was wondering, I'm doiny my relic weapon and I need to get 75 alexandrites, what's the optimal way to get them?
Buy the treasure maps from Auriana in Mor Dhona, each map has 5 Alexandrite
Alrighty, thanks

Hi, I'm trying to find ways to join in on hunts (just got to my first lvl 53)
Is there a good way to find a group/linkshell to do hunts with?
shouting in the populated main cities like Limsa and Eulmore (shadowbringers city) is your best bet, along with where ever you see the hunt train in action
Okay! Is there generally a better day to do this?
Also what to hunt trains look like? :P
Not particularly, though the respawn windows for hunts reset for most maintenances.
generally a giant horde of people and "LFG" (Looking for group) spam in shout chat
Cool, thank you!
Which beast tribe quests should I do to get xp while waiting for duty finder? level 63
Ananta and the Kojin
Ananta require some sidequests to complete. This link shows all the ones you need to do. https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Ananta_Daily_Quests
Kojin only requires story quests and can be unlocked from the Vexed Villager at x6.8 y13.3 of the ruby sea after the quest "Tide Goes in, Imperials Go Out"
is there a need for different characters if you can level every job on one?
Nope
The gameplay reasons to play more than one character are so niche as to not matter to almost anyone.
The main reasons to play more than one character are to play with friends on multiple different datacentres
or to have more RP characters.
Is machinist strong/meta ? I never played this game and I don't know which class to pick.
and how do I become one, which class should I pick when I create my character?
as far as i know u can unlock machinist once you're level 50 + bought the heavensward expansion
all jobs are viable
machinist is in the same category as bard, if you go with that you can share gear
You need to have completed the base story and have started heavensward to be able to unlock machinist
also what miz said, but any class can unlock machinist.
I see. Thanks a lot.
No job is gonna be locked out of parties, and the balance details we quibble over are like 5% differences in optimal capability at most.
@obsidian patio How did you decide to choose Ananta and Kojin as the best tribes for xp?
Because they’re the only combat tribes that will actually give you good experience for 60-70
you cant use the same character on multiple datacentres?
Quick qn on glamour..... Can I glamour warrior great axe into a sword instead?
you can only glamour items you can wear on that class/job, so unless you can find a warrior axe that looks like sword (Which I don't think there is any) then no
OK got it tks
you cant use the same character on multiple datacentres?
@potent umbra nope
where do i find squirrels?
open the quest in the journal and there will be a "show on map" button
Grade 1 materia are so expensive... how am I meant to get 75 for my relic weapon without getting broke?
spiritbond for it yourself
And what's the best way to do it?
Like buying lvl 5 gear, and killing low level mobs?
pretty much
have you checked other servers for the prices?
also i think ixali vendors sell grade 1 materia, might not be the one you need but you can transmute them
Alright, thanks for the info
i need help from someone familiar with the modding scene:
can anyone tell me what dress this is?
@noble heron think you posted that in the wrong channel
whoops, sorry
will try, thanks
hello
Hi
are there any good uses for fire 2 and blizzard 2?
AoE
f2 has some use at lower levels
Blizzard 2 is replaced as soon as you get freeze
aha
Fire 2 sometimes for low level but once you get flare. Not really worth it anymore.
soo i should keep them?
at max level, not a huge reason to keep them around. While leveling, might as well keep them
Put them on a less used bar
ok thanks
Yea. And roulettes sync you down too

wait lemme share my current hotbar
Actually blm is one of the least button-riddled class?
I just suck at designing bars tho
/pat
BLM has the most useless buttons
I just levelled BLM, tryed it in some duty, cryed about dodging stuff and got back to red mage
I just put my fire phase on my left and then ice on my left
Wait i have that backwards

= w=)b
Wait no my fire is on my right, my left and right brain are both dumb
I know this can be better arranged
I have my sprint macroed to my l3 button
I dont have it in front of me but it should be in button mapping
My sprint is on R3
yes i want it on r3 too
Map macro #98 to l3 and do /ac sprint
You macro it on the 99 or 98 spot
Then you map on the controller settings screen yeah
Ye
Then you would only need sprint on the hotbar to see if its up
so then i can remove it from the hotbar to save space?
Yup
What's the Kugane theme called
ah but i wanted to know when sprint is up
Actually the boss version of it
I put in on the right side the icon
This a really old screenshot but I haven't changed my hud much
wow that some fancy customizations
When I click on the dice my job bar collapse
what are the use case of umbral soul?
To keep umbral ice stack
Between pack
What you spam when ur running
that lets you build up to and maintain UI3 with 3 umbral hearts
oh
just have to be in UI to use it so you still need transpose around, in case you end a pull in AF
it really really really shouldn't be a thing to use in a panic
cry in grey-mage
just like how we use scathe while moving?
no
never use umbral soul when you can actively hit anything
it's a GCD spell that does zero damage, anything else that does damage is better than that
it's purely a tool for downtime, when you can't hit anything
optimally i should use 3 umbral souls at a time?
yeah you'd use umbral soul to get back up to UI3 + 3 umbral hearts. Then just use it as needed after that point until you can hit something again
what about sharpcast is it as useful later on?
@rare sable if you somehow end up with low UI timer, F3 is only a base 1.75s cast time in UI3 that refreshes AF mid-cast, so that will be better than an umbral soul. Do that and do whatever you can with the AF cycle following that, then go back to normal. Though really running out of time in UI isn't really a thing that should ever happen, that's a lot of lost time
yeah it sure is
Sharpcast is a key skill in your rotation
you'll be wanting to use it roughly on cd at the next available weaving window, on whatever comes next between thunder or fire rotationally
Thing that really shouldnt happen, happens a lot to me.... thank you for the tips though T^T sad hug
if you think about it, you really have four entire GCD there in UI between the B3 to enter and the F3 to exit, where you can fit in casts
when are leves worth doing for xp?
any?
for combat jobs? never
none
for crafters/gatherers
for dol/doh, pretty much always
hunting log/fates/palace of the dead
is surecast even a thing?
yes in raid
(Squadron if you have it unlocked)
special case?
surecast is mostly about the "additional effect" where it prevents you from being affected by most knockback effects
"Bullshit! I hit surecast!" - me dying via knockback
it's a bit of a situational thing but it's super useful where you have a fight with a knockback
E2 hands of eribol(?) For example (or shinryu ex)
or a mechanic where it pulls you in, surecast works for too
works on some raid fights here and there, works even in some random dungeons where you have that sort of effect
if you ever encounter a knockback and go, well it sure would be nice to be able to stay casting here instead of getting knocked back, well that's what surecast is for
no
oh so flare is like the upgraded version of fire 2?
Flare is its own spell but at 68 it sees more aoe common uses
Because then if you keep at least 1 umbral heart it doesnt yeet ALL of your mana
So you can do it one more time
max is 2 flares at a time?
convert for mana?
manafont
!action manafont
convert was its old name
oh that
can technically also get a 4th Flare off after that using any sort of MP pot that gives you at least 800MP as well. But yeah, Flare is for AoE, it's worthwhile even single target from level 50-59 at the end of AF cycles when you can use swiftcast to make it instant and manafont to get more MP back after without having to transpose, but that's a bit of a minor thing
and Foul just makes use of a resource, polyglot, which you get from having enochian up every 30s at level 70+
So from what I remember with the enhanced umbral heart trait at 4 targets you do fire 4 twice, flare, fire 4, flare
But that could be old news
Not even with 3 targets? Since flare has a decent dropoff
nope, note even at 3 targets. You'd only really consider F4's for AoE rotation pre-68
nah it's better to just maximise flares instead of trying to force out more damage
and only at lower mob counts
at 68+ it's just Flares for your AF cycles, even at 3 targets
unless you have one real big healthy mob amidst smaller mobs or something
Surecast is great on the first boss in Dun Scaith
Well guess thats what happens when they dont have an in game ACT since i play on ps4
Can someone tell me how much cheaper houses get if you wait for the timer?
Off the top of my head like a little under 2 m
Click on Land Price
but that doesnt tell me how much cheaper it gets ^^
minimum pricing is the cheapest it can get
It will rarely goes there on NA servers
yeah my question is how much cheaper does it get every time the timer goes to 0 ^^
meaning how far is each devaluation
well it reaches max devaluation in 30 days, im sure someone smarter in math than me can figure out how much it goes down by that
ah okay ty
one more question: What about plants that are growing if you relocate?
Do they get destroyed?
not sure but I think they're lost if you put the garden in store room?
It will store the garden / plant
You can get them out no trouble
Pretty useful if you leave for a weekend and forgot you got plants growing, you can store them and just leave for your vacation
alright cool ty
Well I learned something about gardening today
Are Grand company rewards purely cosmetic?
no
If you mean the differences between different Grand Company choices, then for the most part yes
well yes but there's a slight no
If you get to captain rank you can buy a i130 weapon for seals instead of poetics if you're lazy like me sometimes
Grand Companies offer many things that are useful and not cosmetic, but these things do not differ between the three GCs.

The only real impact your GC choice will have is on some cosmetic gear, and which city you have to visit in order to trade for GC rewards.
Ul’dah’s GC headquarters are the closest to a teleport location so they have a leg up in terms of convenience there.
They’re followed by Gridania and then Limsa.
Limsa (Maelstrom) is quite popular for its cosmetics and general aesthetic though
Limsa is in a completely different zone but there's a city teleport right next to it so
ok guys I have a quick question
do I need to say, play as a rogue in order to level up that, or can I play other classes to level it up?
you need to play rogue to level up rogue
nope level it up by playing it
the only exception is pvp
and its respective job ninja
Where you get EXP for the job you queued as
(but you can switch anytime after joining the instance as long as said job is a job)
(so level 30 minimum)
aight thanks
but its good advice if you're more comfortable with a certain job
Is there a way to get items from past events?
what does gcd and proc mean?
Gcd short for global cooldown
Its the 2.5second recast found on most weaponskills and some spells.
Proc is a term to mean a randomly generated event occured
Like you have a 50/50 chance to get an extra item.
If you got it. It procced
ah thx
If I wanted to re get lvl 70 artifact gear, where would I go to?
@leaden ginkgo Mogstation
Likely calamnity salvager
@novel bluff calamity salvager
One in each of the 3 cities.
@slate arrow thank you
Proc is short for programmed random occurence. Just remembeted the name.
if someone says use your gcds, they're referring to any ability that has a gcd?
they mean to keep the GCD rolling
o
cause if you're not doing anything you're not doing DPS
or well
significantly less DPS
!faq abc
thats the thing to remember when they say use your gcds
easiest way to fulfill ABC is to basically start tapping your next GCD as soon as the previous one goes off
like constantly be mashing the next button in your rotation
so that it always gets queued ASAP
unless you're weaving
the GCD input window goes up to half a second
so you can press it pretty early sometimes
last half second is usually ok
that admittedly is my WoW muscle memory talking, a lil bit
I don't know if it's on controller only or if it's on keyboard too but you can change input queueing
Currently in Castrum and someone has told us they're not gonna play. Planning on kicking after 15 has passed, but wanted to know if we can leave with no penalty after that?
There shouldn't be any automated penalty system for kicking other players.
As long as you dont say anything incriminating in chat, they cant report you to any success either.
Is there any way to make the popup window stop covering up the list where my mouse is?
which class would be considered the most ping/lag friendly?
@dry glade holding alt will hide that popup window
Thank you Rika, that helps.
Well, they said they weren't gonna play and I told them we'll kick if they don't play. After that I plan on leaving since I assume I won't get a penalty. Is that how it works or will I still get the leaver penalty?
@leaden ginkgo most jobs are pretty fine even on a bit higher ping, what sort of ping do you have? Just to get a bit of an idea
About 130
@empty stirrup if the party is not full when you leave, you incur no penalty.
however IMO don't be a narc about MSQ dungeons. you do not need eight people awake at the keyboard to clear this ancient content
I know, but Castrum and Prae xp is too different to not roll the dice on imo
understandable
that's not really too bad for ping, you'd probably be pretty fine with most jobs. But I see you're getting a lot of answers over in the balance too haha
^
I always ask here too just in case, more brainsore solutions you know
fair enough haha
MCH is probably the only job that personally comes to mind that gets a it more unfortunate at higher ping, but at 130 you should still be fine if you really want to, and play well enough
Mor dhona
best place would be to buy the Ironworks weapon in Mor Dhona
ty ^^
!faq poetics
If you don't have poetics yet, you need to keep doing the MSQ
@pallid gust Apologies for the very late answer but the two songs that play in Kugane are called "Crimson Sunrise" for the day theme, "Crimson Sunset" for the night theme, and the track that plays for bosses is "Triumph".
An odd question, but.... I feel the recruitment channel is for statics, fcs and such. I just want to find even more friends to play with. Are there any welcoming communities that I can go look in that y'all might recommend?
limsa /say
That sounds like a horrible idea with wildly differing results, usually being ignored or just trolled XD
my experience says people don't like random people joining in their conversations
that's how you make friends usually
You know, let's just stick with my question
being honest all you can do is join streamer discords and/or stalking Twitter
It's awkward finding communities due to the reliance on the duty finder system in ffxiv
yeah, which is why I was looking for something on the web. Guess I should have clarified that
stuff like forums or such. Reddit I haven't had much luck with
How does machinist hold up compared to bard? I’m currently a Bard in my low 70s and I really enjoy it, just curious if it’s worth dabbling in MCH too. It certainly looks hard to play.
like, damage-wise? or what
I guess yeah, I suppose I don’t really know what I’m asking
I like shooting stuff, I want to try other ways of shooting stuff, should I try MCH?
you do you, boo
you just get more cooldowns to track
class balance is in a good place rn, the main thing is findnig jobs you enjoy
Is MCH a lot harder than BRD? Im an old man
nah
I’ve been pretty intimated by it, reading about heat and batteries and stuff
I guess BRD was complicated at first too though.
It's just a fancy way of saying "you can use hypercharge every 10 GCDs"
and battery is literally just one button to spend it
I actually love my BRD so much, what a great job.
I should know, I've played both MCH and BRD in raid
I use MCH when I'm lazy
I use BRD when I actually want to be serious and/or if there's already another MCH
I should get it to 80 before I switch. Y’all helped me realize what I wanted anyway.
lmao
Question! In terms of Leveling speed, what's the fastest method from 50 to 80? I finally leveled a character to max and I'm looking to branch out, but I no longer have the beginner EXP buff, any tips?
Roulettes (once per day) > dungeons > deep dungeons
Squadrons and FCs can grant you up to a 15% exp buff
Also if your server is still on Preferred status, any new classes/jobs you pick up will still have that buff.
Food is a 3% buff
^
It sticks for every job under 70
It doesn't go away until the server both looses preferred status and it's been 90 days
Whichever comes last
@gloomy ice thank you very much!
Beast Tribe dailies are another suggestion

I'm returning to the game with a friend but i'm on EU Chaos Cerberus and my friend is on EU Light Odin.. i've tried looking at the options so we can play together but afaik the only thing we can do is a paid transfer?
yes
queue took too long so i read mangas
Okay. How would I go about finding out if Cerberus or Odin was the better choice for us if we're into PVE?
and in terms of not-a-dead-realm
So the better questions is which one of you feel like paying the transfer fee (or does one of you got a house)
We don't have a house iirc nope.. um. Do you know if Light or Chaos would be better for pve? Is that even a thing in this game? I've made this mistake a lot before with WoW for example
Both are good
it really only matters for rp
PvP is literally just a for fun mode
especially since there's no rewards this season of PvP anyways
I've seen some people play nothing but PvP, though. So, I wouldn't say it is only for fun.
Both worlds are also standard
Everything you need to know before transferring
I would go to the one that got the best free company really
what is a w2w pull?
Is the Warrior the DPS of the tanking classes essentially? I wanna play a tank that feels more like a DPS and less like a tank in terms of the playstyle but I'm not entirely sure if I should stick with GNB or go WAR cuz GNB feels a bit weird compared to PLD and DRK in terms of it's rotation x.x
is Ixion hunts still a thing or did i miss that train
A w2w pull is a Wall to Wall pull, pretty much means pull everything you can before the boss 😛 I think some people still hunt Ixion from time to time.
all the tanks are the DPS of the tanking classes
GNB has a more DPS inspired rotation but fundamentally all of the jobs are similar in that they have a burst every minute on average
Well I mean who has the highest DPS for the role? I love DRK but I'm a bit bored of the playstyle x.x
they're all about the same
All the DPS difference comes from the fights and uptime
namely PLD has advantage due to having a ranged phase
Ixion poped on Excalibur yesterday
DRK is supposed to have the least boring playstyle of the tank classes according to reviews. All I can say is PLD is more varied than GUN, although I love the GUN's close ability.
by any chance did they make buying houses easier within the last 4 months?
nope
good friggin luck buying one without getting lucky \o/
basically just go around to open plots and see if you can buy it
its my dream to own a decent size house. i saved all the gil to realize, its imposssible to buy lol
there's a lot more free plots after the expansion though
dont pin your hopes on trying to get "THIS PLOT" though
it wasnt after the district expansion
if i had the gil i would have been able to easily buy a large house
19-21 are for FCs only. I was beat out of 7 houses. the 8th was ready to buy when I arrived.
19-21 arent fc only
so if you keep trying you'll get something I think, unless balmung
i just want a house in this game ;_;
they're FC or Existing Owner only
ie buy a small plot elsewhere, relocate to where you want to be
ok, well it wouldn't allow me to buy in ward 19. The webpage makes no mention of existing owners being able to buy in wards 19-21. https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/playguide/contentsguide/housing_land/
It says private purchasing suspended.

They changed the rules to prevent one person owning multiple houses, but didn't enforce it on existing plots right?
That's kind of silly
I'd be happy with two garden plots for smalls
private purchasing means new plot
transfers aren't technically a new plot
language is wack
^
if private purchase was wholly restricted, why is shiro 19-21 like 70% private ownership on goblin?
you dont need to
look at the residential ward screen
it's very painfully obvious that there are private owners in the new wards
Alright. Thank you.
Old people that got grand fathered in their land, some decided to move all their house in the same Ward and be trolls
I really hate that, it's hard enough to get a plot on gilg
Is there any reason I should strive towards getting a home? Or is just a luxury that I should get if I have the spare Gil?
Spare gil and if you are addicted to decorating, or gardening
gardening can make money, but it's not the fastest way though
is gardening just aesthetic or can you grow materials
Apartment or FC house room are good start
Gardening got some exclusive mats
Like the thav onion to level chocobo
I know that Scholar and Summoner share exp from the base class Arcanist, are there any other classes that also level up
nope, those jobs are the only two that share the same base class like that
every other job is separate from each other and level independently
so are there any plantables inside the house that are small tree size? I thought Isaw them in someone's house but I can't recall where.
Cherries? Thank you.
Question: what's the headgear situation for Au Ra? Will some helms show, some won't? or will horns either clip/magically get stuffed into hats?
Au Ra works like all the OG races
All headwear will work, though like Miqo'te the ears can look weird
Okay cool. Was trying to plan ahead for a fantasia but google had absolutely nothing either way
miqote headgear is.... usually best previewed before purchase
Im playing on a double exp server, and up until now I got 360% + exp
Suddenly Im only getting 100%, why is that?
Does your EXP bar have any blue left? Your EXP bonus is higher if you have blue in it.
Are you level 70 now ?
Although it could be that too, yeah. Once you pass level 70, the buff turns off for that job.
The exp bar is only blue if the bonus exp exceeds your current level
It'll be dark orange if it doesn't
Oh right. I have too much rested 😅
No, I dont think it ever was blue
Blue bar is called rested exp
What were you doing when it dropped down to 100%?
Did you server lose the 90 day exp bonus ?
I think EXP from Palace caps at +100%
No I still have that buff
Well exp from Palace is only affected by the Road to 70
There a time limit non those buff
I noticed it when I was in my daily dungeon
But not sure what exactly I did
My Account is a week old i guess

Could It be because my Paladin was level 35 and my Dragoon is now my highest job?
It would be the other way around in that case
Then were is my bonus exp gone 😄

Was it a one of thing or is it permanently gone?
Just this Exp thing that was always there
Are you visiting another world ? That the only thing I can think then
Cause I know I lose my FC bonus when I do
100% would imply (to me) the armory bonus, which is applied when leveling a job thats lower than your highest level. Although I havent had the buff in an age im guessing the road to 70 doesnt apply unless it is your highest level. Correct me if im wrong
its any iirc
I know it goes away when one job gets to 70
well, no
it goes away on that job
but if you swap to something at a low level again you get it back
I don't recall if they removed monster chaining from dungeons or not. If they did that may be the reason.
They removed it in shb
Monster chaining in dungeons was removed to normalise the experience gain
So a slower group would get just as much experience as a faster one
Well my last guess is it was palace of the dead since that only utilises armory bonus
Do I get more exp on a lower level job than on my highest one?
Yes
Than maybe its because my dragoon is now my highest leveled job
Anyone remember the quest related either currents in heavensward? I can’t find the last current quest
it should be marked with
. Make sure you check foundation/pillars as well
There's usually at least one quest tied to the main story as well. And it's almost always the last one in the zone before you move on the the next.
I’m looking for the one in drsvanian hinderlands
there's also this for reference if you need/want it: https://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/wiki/Aether_Current#Heavensward
Where Alexander is
oh check idyllshire
either check idyllshire or matoya's cave
and matoya's cave yeah
it's probably matoya's cave if I had to guess, since it doesn't show up at a glance
Forgot about her. XD thanks all
Another noob question, what is that roulette everybody talks about? Where can I find it in group search
It's in your duty finder
You can't access the first one, leveling roulette until you get two dungeons unlocked
hotkey is U
Yo fellow ffxiv players! do you know if theres a place to check all the previous benchmarks?
I can't currently access the game because my sub has expired, so I'm doing this silly thing of collecting the benchmark and messing with the character creator in all of them
So far I've only got Stormblood and Shadowbringers
does anyone know why the doorframe has a different colour than the rest of the wall? Its only visible if you reduce the lighting to 1of5...
there's no reason to since the latest one has more or less all of the customizations of the previous benchmarks
Eh, I know. I just want to see the cutscenes of the benchmark with my character :3
@frigid cedar, you can use the character from the game, the benchmark will detect it. (The ones you have saved in the character creation ofc.)
I know... I mean to use my character for ALL the different cutscenes across all Benchmarks
T...There was a benchmark for 1.0? O_O
I didn't expect that at all.
Thanks @twilit arch

Which gathering profession would you say gives more gil in general? Miner or Botonist?
depends on what's selling well at the moment
do both
Well I gotta choose one first lol

Something to do between queues
Start with miner then the early node are less a pain the find
Unlike gridania, too many trees
Ah lol
i'm level 52 ninja: Is it still recommended to make potd with my level?
In terms of pure potency I think you spam it at 2 or more targets after you put your damage over time debuffs on the enemies
Hey guys, is there a way to increase outdoor furniture limits of 20?
Besides getting a bigger house, nope
@green grail well with this same character yes. i have 4 level 80
hey guys a quick question on palace of the dead
Hello, would someone be so nice and create a party for me and my friend, we want to test the game for free trial before buying?
so when I get my thaum to floor 51+ and reset for grinding, do I need to start from the beginning on another class? So if I were to create a LNC and start palace can I continue from floor 51+ or should I start from floor 1
@green grail but why only till 60? why not 70?
can someone help me with poetics n tomestones? I DONT GET IT LOL where do i get them ? i see poetics in "the wanderers palace" and thats it (havent one yet) so um WHAT XD im so confused
but the poetics item is in a envelope?
@tawdry otter potd is only helpful up to 60. 61+ would be Heaven on High
@fickle copper 51+ is a threshold. Since it was added later than the first set, it sort of counts as a separate dungeon. In other words you can now start from 51 on any future classes or jobs.
ohhhhhh ok
tysm, would you recommend it for lvl 1 LNC?
to start leveling it up, I am on floor 40-50 rn and will probably have to go onto 51-60? I think, must I complete 51-60 for the unlock?
whats the gameplay difference between conjurer thaumaturge and arcanist
Can be any lvl
conjurer is healer, thau is burst dps, arcanist is dot dps
dont mind me then...
ok ty
vanishes
potd is unlocked at lvl 17, but you can enter at any lvl once you've done that
Arcanist is also pet dps
Hi im trying the game(trial account).im lvl 15 and through my play i find the main quests kinda frustrasting,it feels like i it has a lot of traveling and back and forth. Anyone else feels this way or just me ?
Eventually it will be White mage (potent heals and heal over time oriented) black mage (high damage low mobility) and Summoner/Scholar (they share a level with Arcanist so they level up at the same time {Summoner will be pet dps/dot management and Scholar is a shield healer/damage mitigated})

@leaden ginkgo any dungeon/trial you do that is that expansions post game (50/60/70) will give you the "poetic tomestones" which is used to aquire that expansions arguably best gear (aside from raids)
Basically if it is divisible by 10 and above 50 (except 80) it will give poetics unless youre Lvl 50+ doing some of the roulettes
@lapis idol yeah FFXIV be like that but eventually you'll be getting into more and more dungeons, they actually start at 15 and eventually you will do trials that are glorified bossfights
that helps a lot ^^ ty
Yup o7
And before you ask about story dsd, everyones gonna say itll pick up and be more interesting when you get to Heavensward and A Realm reborn is a total slog once you get through main game
Get through that and I guarantee your experience will be better
Yeah i have heard that a lot about my story. Im ok even with this early quests stories also
Its mostly the ARR postgame since its a bunch of walking back and forth and reporting the same stuff
I did 1 or 2 dungeons its nice for lvling but does the quests keep being this way? Like travel far talk with a person and get back. Through 2 or even 3 loadings
In the expansions they tend to keep you in the same area until you hit postgame
Would someone be so nice and create a party for me and my friend, we want to test the game for free trial before buying?
Oh ok got it. Also arr stands for realm reborn right?
Otherwise yeah youre walking back and forth and maybe every so often beating up some mobs
yes
HW is heavensward, SB is StormBlood and ShB is ShadowBringers
Is ARR level specific e.g in lvl50 you get onto HW?
not quite
ARR is 1-50, but there's the lvl 50 msq between arr and hw (called post arr)
The main part will get you to lvl 50 and then for over 100 quests will stay Lvl 50 until you hit HW
the same will happen with expansions, you have the base msq for that section which you will level thru and then you have the old max lvl msq to work thru before you hit the next expansion
This is the "post game" where they keep you at that expansions lvl cap storywise until you're in the next one
though with the expansion post msq, they learned from ARR and made them much more concise
The expansions on the plus side are much less tedious and more interesting
anyone got an opinion on starting POTD 51-60 as a lvl 1 LNC
or should I start from 1
Cool well i guess i will reach the trial level cap and see what to do next
Thx for the help
No one will really care if you have a jobstone or not
no reason to start at floor 1, tbh
@fickle copper it’s possible but sort of not advised. Leves and fates are faster if you’re below level 15.
youre just hurting yourself for no real reason
Theres a small reason to start at floor 1 and thats if your weapon/armor kinda not good
floor 51-60 are going to be better xp than floor 1
But like 4 ok dps can theoreticically clear it jobstone or no and yes past 50 you can start parties at 51
There will be a quest you have to do once you've cleared floor 60
but after that you'll be able to start on 51
What they said, I cant find the carot symbol on my phone lol
how does one essentially grind out 51-60? I've seen that this is the spot for grinding
And no worries some of us help cuz its fun
do a run, reset, and queue
Once you finish, talk to the wood wailer to reset your progress, then renter at 51.
Do the 9 floors matched party, clear your party, do 51-60 again
ahhhh ok so reset the save file gotchu
You get 2 saves just clear one of them
o7
o7
Mogstation emotes are per character, correct?
yes
how do i make bard performance display more octaves
without holding the modifier keys
like this
you have to manually bind them in the keybinds menu
oh ok
why is this quest so simple but hard
Which quest?
are you using the item given to you on the mudpuppy?
Why are the snow Elezen so rude to me?
If you mean Ishgardians, it’s because they’ve been fairly isolated over the last 1000 years
because ishgard is full of a bunch of isolationist, religious zealots who don't have much trust in outsiders/nonbelievers
Theyre a really elitist bunch
Yea
I’m new to the game and actually never got spoilers from the lore
and I’m loving the storyline
quick question. which healer is allowed to dps the more.. easily. i mean : You're in a dungeon quite normal with a tank that know what he does. which healer can for example just dish out dps and heal a few. i tghought about white mage, with their regen spell, or scholar with some shield and using the fairy (but i heard scholar is like a lot of effort for normal healing)
what do you think?
Most of Scholar’s healing is in their off-global cooldowns, which mostly means using Ruin 2 instead of broil to use them
all the healers do similar amounts of DPS
WHM has the easiest since it's a simple choice between healing and damage 90% of the time
SCH has access to a weaving tool (ruin 2) which allows them to still deal consistent DPS while weaving healing abilities
AST has both and it suffers from "everything you can do I can do better"
especially when in shield stance
Astrologian can be extremely busy at times, and the levelling experience felt a touch wobbly
a lot of jobs make less sense as we go on due to reworks changing or removing elements that used to be core to the job
like level 50 and the now nonexistent cross class abilities
@slate arrow what do you mean about the astrologian? o,o he can do better in both shielding and healing? o,o
no
AST doesn't heal or shield as well as either
it's only saving grace is the DPS buffs it can grant but
more often than not they don't effect most dungeons
so you just suffer with your lack of healing kit until later levels
i see. i'm a bit scared about the scholar play style. if the healing is only on ogcd, it kinda need a precise CD management o,o
SCH is preemptive instead of reactive
you was to do stuff before people start dying
otherwise, you burn mana spamming your suck-ass heal
i see. so white mage might be a better option then
tbh when it comes to dungeons, which healer is best for you is a matter of how comfortable you are on that healer
in general, whm is probably going to be fairly easy to get into because you've got a lot of tools to work with
WHM has the best AoE, best mana efficiency, and mana management tools
as a beginner, it feels way more intuitive to bash healing when the tank begin to be lkow on life o,o
eh, SCH is still technically reactive, just that reaction tends to be extremely preemptive of further damage
best try all in potd or hoh out, in potd u can see how it is till lvl60 and in hoh u see how it plays till 70, and play what u like the most
yeah but he can test a lil bit how the skills work
more or less the kits don't change after you get to level 50
you just get more healing buttons
(and card buttons, in the case of AST)
potd is either too easy, thus not testing his comfort with healing, or things hit so damned hard it's too stressful
i've nothing unlocked in potd xD
If you've never played a healer before, i would personally say just start with white mage
its intended to be the easiest and most straight forward to play healer
rather, conjurer 😛
If you find yourself getting bored of it, then branch out to scholar or astrologian

scholar requires 30 levels of dpsing and AST is locked behind getting into Ishgard via msq
i like white mage becuase it does a lot of damage too
also, what should i meld for SAM? dh, det, or crit
Scholar seems to be more into instant cast, even for dps?
!action ruin 2
Scholar’s version is 200 potency
that's a 40% dps loss if you use ruin 2 over casting broil 3
i see
You only want to use Ruin 2 for weaving in your oGCDs or for movement
and white mage has nothing for dps in instant cast?
You got Dia, your damage over time, and your Afflatus moves
and assize instant aoe dmg while at the same time it heals + restores some mp
WHM operates a lot like BLM in terms of casting: you have a few resources to move but not infinite before your DPS/HPS takes a large hit
what class has the most "actions"(like DRK's TBN/Plunge)
not the most complex/rng rotations, like a class that's the most different from "repeat your rotation again and again"
heard its rng heavy though
well all jobs are like that it's either RNG city or follow your rotation
DNC is the closest to having a balance between combos and rng
and it's not like the rng really changes the gameplay i think?
like you don't get a movement spell from procs or something that's not related to DPSing at all etc

I mean there's no outmaneuvering of any kind due to how aggro works in pve
PvP uses an entirely different kit
hm
DNC has single target and aoe 2-step combos primarily
it's kinda been feeling like the difference between lvl1 and lvl80 combat is just finger speed lol
everything else is sheer rng for the most part
Oh I just remembered
NIN gets it's movement ability cooldown reset upon using most ninjitsus
Hey guys, new potential player here
A few years back, when Stormblood was released I played a little bit (had a paladin lvl 53), but didn't really like the game.
The fact that i got flamed a lot because i was the tank and didn't know anything of the game or dungeons (and I don't really know anybody ingame to group up with)
Now I'm concidering my return, and going back to a full-on healer class which I've always played in a different MMO.
So I wanted to ask if White mage is a good class for a new player or will I get flamed a lot there as well for not knowing timings in dungeons?
or should I just get to know the game as a "brainless dps" and then later on roll a healing class?
Is a healing class something that is wanted in this game or are there an abundance of them?
I'd like to find a guild (I think they are free companies called in FFXIV) and I know from experience that playing a much sought after class makes it easier to find people to play with.
Also, do I have to have the shadowbringers expansion to start out and test the game?
Or can I buy it later on when I hit lvl 70 in stormblood/heavensward?
Healers are always in need
most people are nice but if u queue into the dipshits and dont know what you're doing for the first time you'll get flamed regardless of what role u are
Almost all datacenters have a regular healer shortage due to the reword ShB brought
Not entirely related but as a tank I didn’t have egregious issues with parties being mad at me. The most it usually ever was was forgetting to turn on tank stance
so, it dont matter
Also, if people are being dipshits, open the report desk and slap their ass
I’m as far as early Stormblood and have played most content in ARR and HW that are in roulette queues
SE takes a hard stance on harassment
and if they don't like your playstyle well
they can just leave
@slate arrow That's good to know, I really got overwhelmed last time being unlucky with grouping with toxic people in one week.
It really discourages new people from playing, especially if you don't know anyone else in game and have to rely on being in groups with randoms everytime.
idk about healers but duty roulette always needs tanks for some reason
Then again this was 3 years ago or so that i played
As far as I know tanks are the least played discipline
But I am a fairly new player and I have had a blast playing through the story as tank
as far as i know tanks are just "less boring dps" so idk why they would be lol
Tanks have a stigma around them because of being a tank. IE some view it as a higher pressure job than healer/DPS
Tanks got a boost in popularity due to shadowbringers giving everyone basically a level boosted tank
But otherwise it's always healers and tanks in need
tanks are like "im just as good as dps except i am fighting the boss instead of punching a pinata"
eh, healer's the more stressful job
Tanks are also generally responsible for less mechanics in dungeons and trials and raids
Generally
If anything, DPS is more demanding than Healer/Tanks at higher level
a tank just needs to worry about the healer keeping them alive
The tank’s main concern is making sure healers don’t go insane
a tank just needs to not die so the rest of the party doesn't die
Tank just need to handle boss positioning and use their defensive tools
a healer needs to pray to whatever gods that will listen that the tank uses CDs and holds aggro while the DPS do their damned jobs >_>
They don't need to juggle aggro anymore
yea tanks arent hard at all
But I also think going through MSQ as tank is pretty nice because I can queue for extra less popular content and not worry about mind numbingly insane queue times
I imagine it’s the same for healer
they just happen to be more fun unless you like mashing your keyboard a lot
And how are endgame dungeons/raids as tank?
what's a queue time?
I haven’t reached endgame lol
@silent pike I think that was the main reason i started paladin back in the day... i read somewhere that you can get MSQ stuff done real fast as tank because of no waiting queus
They're just like leveling dungeons
It's raids where you actually have to look at your cooldowns
I usually take the time to unlock every dungeon/trial that appears in roulette
Namely savage and ultimate
And I think that would be a lot harder on DPS
Generally
In fact I usually have some higher level people thank me because I make roulette pop stuff that apparently doesn’t show up often in queue lol
My paladin is a Au Ra (Xaela), if i were to make him a white mage now... does it matter that my level 1 attributes aren't the best for a "healer"? or do those few points in MND (6 compared to keeprs of the moon I believe) don't matter?
it doesn't matter
Starting stats are literally insignificant
the amount of stats you get from gear eclipses your racial starting stats
currently at level 80 we have like
is this the correct NPC to claim cash items?
ok good to know!
Then i know what I have to look forward to when i get home from work tomorrow 😄
Thanks for the answers guys and goodnight ^.^
ive been waiting 3 hrs for my delivery now hmm
If it's an account wide item it might take a while
its a charakter boost
when did you buy it and have you logged out and in again
yeah I relogged like 3 times
Try requesting mail delivery

Quick question about healer again : after some research, the fairy of scholar cast embrace, 150 potency with a 3 sec recast. does she cast this every 3 second? isn't it mega strong? o,o
Pet potency is weaker than it appears
I think for fairies at least
Actual potency comes out around closer to 100
Not sure about SMN pet potency

but its not 1:1
yea, pet potency scales off the same stat your skills/spells do, but at a different ratio. 80% of "actual" potency sounds about right from what i've seen
is the Answers orchestral roll hard to get? thinking whether it's worth getting from mogtome
It requires multiple drops from the Binding Coil raids, or 1-3mil Gil on the MB, depending on your server
ok mogtome it is hahah
SCH pet potency is 0.7
do preferred world bonuses still apply during world visit?
Yes, if you have preferred status from your home world, it will continue to affect you if you visit a world that does not have preferred status
but if you didn't make a character on a preferred world, you won't gain the benefits if you world visit to it
I think there’s one more quest to hit rank 4?
I did the repeatable daily ones and couldn’t earn reputation
But nothing about a quest appears
did you do the rank up quest
which is available from the leader when you hit max rep at the level
Is how much progress you can make with the doman enclave capped by the weekly allowance or can you just throw money at them to make it progress? Also do you get anything out of helping them?
Er by throw money I mean stuff of course.
I've got a stack of like 90 coins
Yes its capped per week. After 5 or 6 weeks i think its completed and you get some glam + material vendor
Besides the Gil every week, they eventually sell some housing items and a glamour chest piece
Also a crafting material for a minion
Ah alright, will want to get it done eventually then.
!iglam Yanxian Merchant’s Haori
Dyeable
@obsidian patio
Which minion? I did completed it, but i didn't knew you could craft a minion from the mats they are selling.
Wind-Up Sadu IIRC
I see, you need royal fern for it sadly.
which is growable iirc
Crossbreed only
i have a pot of pure white dye. if i want to dye a piece of gear and move it to the dresser, do I need to dye it before i put it in the dresser?
for it to retain that color
You can do either
Newly returning to the game, haven't played since ShB came out, is there a preferred tank at end game? I have all of them at 60 except DRK at 70
Dying before placing works. Dying on a plate after placing also works.
If you want multiple plate with that color, its better to dye first then place
Ok thanks
You can dye before or after the dresser. But dye before you open the plate or you'll just apply dye to that plate. I put the expensive dyes on the item and the cheap dyes on the plate.
Party finder
Report RMT--that's Real Money Transaction right?
yup
is there a way to add a portrait of some kind to my target bar?
A portrait of who?
The target
🤔
OK, ty
Has any new raid content dropped since the first eden tier? Just came back to the game after who knows how long
Ultimate?
Wait what
you don't know about ultimate?
really really extremely hard mode
Ultimates were created in SB
That explains that
They pegged Savage at Creator level (theoretically) and made Ultimate for the super high-end raiders
How do I start the alliance raid?
What ilvl does it drop?
460
yeah
Nice
I havent enjoyed alliance raids since crystal tower
Hopefully this one is fun
Can anyone help? I get an error whenever i try to register ffxiv. coming from the free trial D:
error code i2501
Do you have a VPN active? That’s a common cause of it
