Ice/Fire stance are maintained with the Level 1-3 versions of their element, along with Freeze and Umbral Soul for Ice, and Flare/Despair for Fire

As long as one of those stances is up, Enochian stays active which lets you use the level 4 spells and Umbral Soul

At early levels, your timer will basically never run out at long as you're using your spells. At higher levels, Enochian throws a bit of a wrench into it but it's still manageable with practice.

Steam version gets a little funny when dealing with preorders and CE's. Steam version must launch from Steam. If Steam is down so is XIV, in effect. Sales on both don't match up either. Aside from Mogstation stuff, purchases are incompatible between the two versions.

Hotbar placements are rather subjective. Whatever feels most comfortable to you is the best answer I can give. I can't really offer advice on this, especially for DRG, since my hotbars are utter nonsense.

When I picked up GNB, I could not for the life of me figure out anything about how it worked. So what I did was mirrored my PLD set up as closely as I could. Everything clicked immediately at that point. You could try something similar.

Raiden Thrust isn't a skill that you can assign manually btw. It just automatically replaces True Thrust once you fulfill the reqs.

Congested servers are locked, period, until their congested status is lifted by SE

These server statuses are usually adjusted with major patches.

So on the 18th you can check the server status updates and see if your desired server is still congested.

There is no trick with logging on directly after a patch

That only works for non-congested servers.

the issue is that the gear you're given through the job boosts you can't have more than one of in the same inventory

the boost gives you gear but the gear is unique so you can't hold 2 of the same item at once

Basically you can only have 1 set of Scaevan Fending gear

You got the first set from the PLD job boost, and the DRK job boost is trying to give you another set

So just get rid of the first set

Can someone explain the difference between sleep and bind? My WHM has Fluid Aura (bind) and Repose (sleep), and they appear the same in that they disappear on damage. But Repose is 30s, Fluid Aura is much less (5?) so I'm not sure what the use case for Fluid Aura actually is?

@lapis steppe the shire weapon has got a bit of a convoluted process. it's 500 poetics for the shire lance -- what you need to do is speak to the middle NPC, go to Poetics (Other), and buy 10x Rowena's Token (Scripture) and 1 Micro Tomestone

take those items to the right-hand NPC, select Shire Gear Exchange, and trade them in for the weapon

'When can I get my first mount?'

The quest that allows you to use mounts, 'My Little Chocobo' is unlocked by completing the level 20 main story quest 'The Company You Keep'. The quest is located at the Grand Company base you chose and you'll need to buy the Chocobo Issuance from your Grand Company Quartermaster. You can get the 200 needed Grand Company seals by doing the main story quest that comes after 'The Company You Keep'.

'Are there any differences between mounts?'

Besides looks, all mounts are the same speed along with being able to fly in the expansion zones. Some mounts allow multiple people to ride at once.

'Can I make my mount faster?'

Zones have one or two ranks of mount speed that increase the ground speed of mounts. The first rank comes from completing specific quests in the main scenario quests, with the second rank coming from Riding Maps which are bought with either Allied Seals, Centurio Seals, or Bicolor Gemstones. Mount Speed Boosts do not increase the flying speed of mounts.
