@full compass Late answer, I know, but there is a trick on controller that makes targeting infinitely easier. While you're holding L2 or R2 for skills, you can tap L1 or R1 to quickly cycle through all visible targets. Sounds unwieldy on paper but in practice it makes switching targets much faster.

To add onto what Eton said, if you use a Elite controller or a controller with buttons on the bottom you should be able to change the input of those buttons to left or right on the D-pad and that also switches your target, usually for me if I'm in combat I do that cuz it changes to enemies 90% of the time I'm in combat and it targets allies the other 10% of the time. The L1 or R1 trick would work extremely well on an Elite controller.

Honestly I've never found there to be a significant time advantage to doing PotD as dps over just queueing daily roulettes, no matter what people say.
IMO it's significantly less effort and headache to simply queue for the roulettes once per day, and read a book or play a game on my Switch while I wait. Even for dps queues, those rarely go beyond 20 minutes for any kind of content.

All combat classes function the same.
Gatherers are different.
There are effectively four retainer classes in terms of differences: combat, miner, botanist, fisher.
They get different items from ventures.
Having a combat retainer to fetch monster-dropped materials like skins is very handy
And miner is useful for gathering topsoils if you have a house with a garden patch.
Fisher isn’t very handy, but since fewer people use fisher retainers, the minions that drop rarely from 18 hour waterside exploration ventures sell for more then the equivalent minions from the other retainer classes.
That’s the only noteworthy advantage of a fisher retainer.

Depends on the price difference between T7 and T8 materia IMO
My general luck with transmuting into a higher grade is generally around 10% on a bad day so I would just sell your T7 materia if it isn’t like 8-10x cheaper than T8 stuff

So, i finally decided to dedicate time to ffxiv, i finally bought the complete edition, (ma character on the trial was lvl 14) and i intend to skip the story, to get fast in raid and dungeon of the last expansion. i'm more a tank player, but what do you think would be a good class to start with? (i mean in terma of dps or tank, im really not into healing) as i've to do the shadowbringers story, should i get a tank or dps? (im more into paladin or gunbreaker, but i guess i can't get a job boost for gunbreaker right?)

Gunbreaker does not have a job boost, yes.
As for job choice, any of them are fine to do the story with, though a tank will help you get through it faster since you won't need to wait nearly as long to get into dungeons and trials.
IMO, I find Marauder/Warrior to be a very easy starting tank, though Gladiator/Paladin does start off easy and gradually picks up in their rotation difficulty/complexity in the later levels

For the 50/60 patch stuff I would actually recommend unlocking the SB and ShB jobs and you could do some of that patch stuff as them to soak up some XP so you don't hit level 80 so fast on your main job

@forest stratus Regarding your healing class question: You're not going to find a healer with any kind of really complex rotation per se. For dps purposes, healers basically have a DoT, a single target attack, and an AoE attack. For healing purposes, there really isn't a set rotation. The difficulty of healing any party is largely dependent on the competence of the rest of the group.

@light drift Bit late but I'm currently at the end of HW as a tank and even though you kill things slower alone your queues are way faster so you may overall get through content faster
Because DPS can get stuck in queues for long periods of time
You can also take some time to do optional queued content as well since you don't need to wait as long
Also tanks are balanced in FFXIV to be sufficient damage dealers in their own right. Some MMOs don't allow tanks to have that strong offensive stats compared to this game

Ruin II has no cast time but costs more. Although you’ll end up using both depending on the situation. And at higher levels they’re both incorporated into your rotation anyway.

I gotcha, also for DRG what actually procs the two abilities that add time to my blood of the dragon? Is it just doing the two combos or what? xD I'm trying to get the hang of it as I do PotD to level to 60 but it's kind of confusing since I just started learning DRG.

Honestly I did but I didn't see anything in the tooltip that says exactly how it procs, like there isn't a combo attached to it since it seems to start a combo in the tooltip so I wanna know if I'm right in doing a thrust combo then using the BotD extenders or if I should be doing stuff differently for getting certain procs, not exactly a good up to date guide for below level 80 rotations and what to use in what situation.

Wheeling Thrust will always proc after Chaos Thrust and Fang and Claw will always proc after Full Thrust.
As long as you have BotD active that is.
BotD turns their three hit combos into four hits, in other words.
Just alternate the combos and you’ll be fine.

you're not seeing rotation guide for early levels because they mostly become obsolete so quickly that people don't generally bother to optimize.
actually, low level rotations are more like just a shorter/easier version of the lv80 rotations.
with an exception of BLM.
