@silk summit yeah, the tomestone vendor on the east side of the map takes poetics as currency. You have to have completed the 4.0 MSQ "Stormblood" to unlock the vendor

you should be able to use the skill "preparation" to see what stats you need in order to get a certain item HQ when you're interacting with a node

if you haven't unlocked Advanced melding (Check the general tab of actions) talk to Mutamix for it

If you want to get this achievement easily
Look for Ornate gears, they have all 5 slots unlock so they have 5 100% guaranteed meld. Obsolete Ornate gear should be cheap.
For gears that doesn't have Advanced Melding Forbidden, they usually have 2-3 open slots and the rest of the slots hidden. Melding on hidden slots have high chances to fail.

Mog will also be extremely tough if not impossible since the King has a MP draining attack
