treasure maps are items that are gathered by gatherers or you can get some of them as rewards from the wondrous tails
namely the ones you want to do are either dragonskin, gazelleskin or zonureskin maps. Dragon are 60, gazelle 70, and zonure are 80. Most people these days are doing zonure, since that's where the hot new glam items are

@rich flume a lot of people recommend paladin to start with. but to be honest, basic of tanking are all the same. it's not that much of a difference in terms of tanking. rotation wise is different, but tanking rotation isn't difficult in general. i would say just go with what appeals to you.

problem I have with crafting HQ (and this is a learning experience for me) is that my base mats are NQ so I don't get a very high chance of HQ (most i get is 15% usually). It's not anything specific, I was just making a general statement of difficulty. I assume the problem is not really rotation but that I am not using enough HQ mats to get a higher base quality? Again I'm learning. I use ffxivteamcraft for specific recipes, but generally I don't like the buffs. I feel like they waste CP and it would be better to use that CP to regen durability.

So going back to collectible rating: That only got brought up for ishgard restoration right? And from what I read, collectible rating is only for collectable type items. What are examples of collectables? Are they strictly turn in key items? Or things like housing decorations? And I assume things like armor aren't relevant to collectible rating

Yes, Scripts are indeed the tomestones for crafters/gatherers.

think of collectible as an separate thing from your normal crafted items. their existence is purely to get exchanged for rewards like scrips.
collectible rating is just the "Quality" of the item when you craft them. Instead of getting a percent chance of HQ, whatever quality you finished your collectible item is your collectible rating.

@sturdy mason there isn't much of a difference between normal crafted items and collectibles. Collectible are simply an item for exchange of scrips. Again, the difference is that now your Quality is your Collectible Rating instead of a chance to get HQ item.

what I've been doing is getting progress up to where I have only 1 step left, then I focus on getting quality as high as possible, and only do the last progress when I have 10 or less durability left. Is this a good process?

generally, no, but it depends on what abilities you have at your level

if you want to heal, I recommend using SCH so you can do the MSQ as a SMN because instance battles get dull rather quickly healing

I think ranged or melee DPS would be the better examples to go through the dungeons and content and experience and learn them that way, then once you get a feel for the dungeons, just keep an eye out for what the healers and tanks do, then try those dungeons with those roles yourself
(at least that's what I've done, and I feel pretty okay about it)
