if you already have palace of the dead floor 51 available, like three hours
1-15 off of fates and hunting logs takes about an hour, then about 6-7 runs of potd 51-60

It's always a good idea to start at 1, MCH, AST, and DRK start and 30 and it's a pretty fair start
Oddly enough, DNC is the most brain dead rotation and easiest to understand rotation of everything, so just bang your head on it while leveling and you'll eventually get it

your retainer cannot be higher level in a job than you are
for retainers, combat jobs are all interchangeable, so there's not much reason to change to a specific job unless you're switching from combat to gatherer

I usually have three hotbars, but don't fill them completely, it's more the "completeness" of having Shift-1 above, 1 in the middle and Alt-1 in the bottom. I think in endgame you have like 20-30 buttons you have to use hotkeys for, plus stuff you can really just click like chocobo, gysahl greens, teleportatin/return etc

I recommend starting out as DPS role with Lancers and Archers being the simpler ones from the get go.

In terms of complexity I’d say the simplest jobs are Marauder/Warrior (Tank), Conjurer/White Mage(Healer), and Lancer/Dragoon+Archer/Bard (melee and ranged DPS)

I couldn't recommend Dragoon/Lancer (same class) more since it's simple, has few positional detriments (hit a weaponskill from a certain side of the mob/boss and it does more damage/adds bar if you're a Samurai) until about Heavensward and forward and the only thing to worry about is the Jump's animation lock will move your hitbox and lock you in place for a second is a meme that has happened to many a DRG and no one is allowed to lie about it because it's happened. Lancer/Dragoon is about the simplest/more fun class to play until you hit level 50 in your first Disciple of War/Magic where you unlock Samurai/Red mage which are both very simple and also start at lvl 50. If you'd prefer a healer, Conjurer/white mage is the best/only option off the get go

Completely depends on skill, but Bard has "songs" which give YOU different mechanics to work with and the PARTY a rather much smaller buff, but it is SOMETHING

Regarding my setup on L2 and R2, I duplicate True Thrust so I don't need to dance around at higher level.
I want to do a Disembowel combo, I just start at L2 + Circle where my True Thrust is placed, then I finish with Wheeling and then Fang. This will put me at R2. Now I start my Full Thrust combo with the R2 + Circle, where I placed my other True Thrust.

The overwhelming majority of serious raid damage is magical because casters have lower hp and defense but higher magic defense than physical dps, so magic is equally threatening to all dps but casters would get nuked by physical
Autoattacks tend to be physical but there is a very long list of exceptions
And tankbusters you can usually guess pretty well by what it looks like
Titan stomping on you is physical while leviathan shooting a jet of water at you is magical
Also a lot of avoidable mechanics and multi-hit tankbusters give you a vulnerability to a specific type of damage, which is (almost) always the same type of damage that they deal

It will max out at rank 10, then you can get thavnarian onion (spelled wrong probably) to increase the cap. The item only works when it is maxed out again. You can go to rank 20 iirc.

you can try using the mudfish vpn - there's an option that halves your input lag for weaving, really useful at high ms - it's called fastconnect mode
it gives you some credit to trial it, i'd recommend giving it a go
i played on NA with 200ms, it got me down to 150ms and let me doubleweave on some jobs with low sks/sps

Hello! Just wondering, there were some quests to slay specific creatures I did and in both instances there were players who were also doing the same quest. They kept bugging as in they’d slay the monster and teleport 100 ft the other direction and slayed the others.

You need to reach lvl 50 with another job first to unlock SAM because SAM starts at level 50.

All jobs in FFxiv tends to be shortened into 3 characters. Ingame as well.
So MNK PGL SAM gear can be worn by those 3 jobs for example.

Basically, SAM relies on a combo system where you collect something called "sen" with the skills. Using the skill with the moon symbol activates the moon symbol in the samurai gauge. Using the one with ice symbol activates the gear symbol. Activating one gives you a 1 minute DOT. Activating two gives you an AoE, and three gives you a high potency skill

Btw random tidbit but if you get annoyed by the mobs consider doing either miner or botanist because their sneak ensures you don't get bothered at all

Leash distance is also very short in this game though, so you can just walk a few yards in any direction to lose em

heyo, got a bit of a quick question. how complicated or difficult is it being a healer? Only other MMO I've ever played is ESO and I was a tank (never got to level 50 though), and I did play a little as a gladiator for a bit to try out the game for the past 2 days, so I want to try something new.

I've seen enough people murdered by A/S rank hunts because they assumed Sneak was some kind of God mode for mob avoidance

Healing is not very difficult because big hits are telegraphed very often. As long as you maintain calm and have a good grasp of your abilites, it should be alright.
Really, just hop in and give it a shot.

How hard healing is is usually determined by the rest of your party and your co-healer if you have one. It's not too bad overall, your damage dealing is super simple, and difficult healing sections in a fight can usually be planned around. The only other MMO I have to compare it to would be WoW WotLK, and my experience is that since damage and mechanics are more scripted in FFXIV, it's more about optimizing how to use your cooldowns, when you can get away with healing little and when you really need to heal, getting damage out when you don't need to heal, etc.

Also depends on how the tank(s) does, if he pulls beyond the capability of the healer, it is the error of the tank.

Conjurer is a healer and becomes white mage. Thauma is a caster and becoes black magem
Arcanist is also a dps caster and becomes sch atlevel 30.
