There's 3 types of fishing bait:
- Disposable bait - Cheap but once you use it it's gone. Shorter time to fish hook in general.
- Lure bait - Slightly more expensive but you can use it as much as you want. Longer time to fish hook in general. Has a potential to be lost by line break if you don't reel in fish enough.
- Mooch - Using another fish as bait. This is common to catch rare/king fish. Fish must be HQ to use as mooch unless Mooch II is available and off cooldown. Time to hook varies with target fish.

Fishing doesn't get a lot of use outside of CUL. There's some random alchemy and goldsmith recipes that might use it but it's not as important as botanist / miner in terms of overall crafter supplies

Well one thing with fishing is that you have specific fish you can turn in from levequests. Those you can find on the marketboard if you have the gil and really want to go the fast route. Botanist and Miner levelquests on the other hand require you to gather non-tradable items from levequest specific nodes and as such you can't really buy your way though it (save the job quest turn-in items maybe).

Each time you desynth something you get a certain amount of experience. If this value is over the recommended level you have a chance to get rarer items back (or HQ instead of NQ)

@sturdy mason kinda yeah. Though realistically if you're going for a specific fish and you know the timing/tug of the fish you just ignore ones you don't need and let it go, which is the fastest. Takes a bit more attention but means that you only get the ones you need and don't have to go through the hooking animation.

Hey, any controller users here? I kinda need help with something. Googling it several times did absolutely nothing.
I was messing around with the controller settings last night, trying to get the WXHB thing to work properly. After some digging around, I managed to get them to function, but something else changed in the process. Specifically, the way cycling through hotbars with R1 works.
I swear, this blasted thing only used to appear when I HELD DOWN R1, but now it flickers on the screen every single time I press R1 to cycle to the next hotbar. Every. Single. Time.
It annoys the everliving crap out of me and I want it gone. I've tried literally everything in the settings to fix it, including turning off the WXHBs, but nothing works. I'm starting to think it might just be something that's always been there and I've only just now noticed it, but I refuse to believe that until someone verifies it for me.
So: is this normal? Can it be fixed?

You just unlock the healer actions.
I don't recommend bothering with setting them to healer stance
that just makes them follow you closely and do nothing but heal.
Free stance so that they will also hit things in the meantime
