We would like to provide an update regarding the previously announced issue where furnishings may not be displayed properly in housing.
This issue can be broadly divided into the two cases below, and we would like to explain each in turn.
■ Case 1: When the number of furnishings on screen exceeds 400, but the checks that determine what should be hidden are not performed correctly.
Our investigation to date has confirmed issues with the following processes:
・In certain cases, when furnishings placed on different floors enter the camera view, the process that determines the positions of all furnishings on screen may fail.
・When switching furnishings between visible/hidden states, unintended fade processing is occurring.
・For furnishings with light sources, there are cases where the light reaches the camera view but the furnishing itself is off-screen, and the checks are not performed correctly—resulting in the light-source furnishing being hidden.
When these three issues overlap, we have confirmed that furnishings may become hidden at unintended times depending on furnishing placement, camera angle, and direction in which the camera is moved. For this case, we have already identified the cause and are currently working on a fix.
■ Case 2: When furnishings become hidden even though the number of furnishings on screen does not exceed 400.
Regarding this case, we have received numerous reports stating that it occurs even though fewer than 400 furnishings have been placed to begin with.
In addition to verification across a variety of environments (PC specifications and platforms), we have also investigated through a wide range of methods such as copying the housing data of affected players into our development environment. However, we have not been able to reproduce the issue even once in the development environment so far, and identifying the cause has proven difficult.
Based on our analysis of the program, it is unlikely that the display limit processing would trigger when fewer than 400 furnishings are present. As such, we have formed the hypothesis that, under certain conditions, information for furnishings that were previously rendered on screen may continue to remain in the client’s memory, and that this may be added to the current on-screen count. However, currently we do not have enough information to confirm this, and we have not yet been able to establish a clear direction for a fix.
To help us solve the issue, if you encounter the symptoms described in this case, we would greatly appreciate it if you could submit a detailed report in the official forum thread below, using the provided template. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your cooperation.
