I noticed it says to equip, but if I try to equip nothing happens, so I assume I'm already equipped with it, but the UI doesn't reflect that. I hope I'm making sense.

It shows equippped in backpack, but that screen is a bit confusing because it's offering to equip -- if I click to equip you may want to have it reflect that "already equipped" if trying to equp again. Something like that.
alternatively, it could just 'click' and make that 'enabled sound' even if it's already equipped, so some kind of visual/sound feedback.
I notice other things do that even if they're already selected like modules etc
