there are a few ways you can sort of do this
- using shape previews to see the output before it has to travel through the buildings
- using wires and simulated buildings
- making a sandbox save and using item producers ( https://shapez2.wiki.gg/wiki/Sandbox_Machines )
As helpful as previews are for this, it requires a gap in your production line, so you can’t see what’s happening at every stage of the pipeline at once.
you can also split off a belt and not connect it to anything to get the preview
Yes, but seeing the middle state of a machine often requires deleting pieces and then undoing. It's more dificult to reason about. As a game, that's not always a bad thing, overcoming friction is the point. But, it is friction, and all friction needs to be a decision by the developer. Adding ghost production would be a quality of life improvement, but I'm not confident it would make the game better nor worse.
It was an idea, and I've overcome this trouble and connected at last my build with the line to see where the problems are. I know, it's maybe not as useful as I thought it would be. And I also don't know how difficult it would be to implement such a thing.
Oh, and I'm not willing to use cheats even it would help, it feels kinda wrong not play the game as intended 😊 .
