#[1.0.3-rc3] Restarted the game after purchasing the supporter edition and the game fails to launch

The game loads fine after restarting.

Additional info:
I changed some settings, closed the game, bought the supporter edition, then relaunched. I didn't own the game before, I was playing through my steam family.
I'm having frequent crashes too, every 5-60 minutes, seemingly at random. My settings don't save when the crashes happen, so that's why I changed settings and closed the game.

Game crashes on launch on macOS - unable to reach main menu
To Do β€’ Priority: Highest β€’ Fix: None β€’ Game: 1.0.3-rc3

shapez 2 crashes immediately on launch on macOS, preventing the player from reaching the main menu. The issue appeared suddenly after the game had previously been working, with no known triggering action from the user. The expected behavior is that the game launches successfully and displays the main menu without crashing.

Crash during startup process
Done β€’ Priority: Medium β€’ Fix: Future β€’ Resolution: Won't Fix

The game / shapez 2 crashes during the startup process on Linux using Proton support. The crash occurs right after clicking allow anonymous reporting on first launch. On the second launch attempt after clicking the same option, the game successfully reaches the start menu. The log shows multiple errors including a 32-bit library being incorrectly loaded into a 64-bit process and Chromium embedded browser component issues. The crash prevents the player from accessing the game on first startup,...

[0.0.8-rc3] Crash while loading save if Steam/Game was half closed - System.NullReferenceException
Done β€’ Priority: High β€’ Fix: Version 0.0.9 β€’ Game: 0.0.8-rc3 β€’ Resolution: Won't Fix

When a player closes Steam while shapez 2 is running, then prevents Steam from shutting down the game and continues playing, attempting to load a Savegame afterward causes a System.NullReferenceException crash. The crash occurs when clicking "Continue" from the Main Menu after this Steam-closing sequence. The game becomes completely unresponsive and requires force closing. This is a Steam SDK-specific issue that cannot be fixed by the game developers. The issue is reproducible by following th...

System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object
Done β€’ Priority: Medium β€’ Fix: Dimension Update [0.1.0] β€’ Game: 0.1.0-alpha1 β€’ Resolution: Won't Fix

A System.NullReferenceException error occurs when attempting to load a Savegame created in Converter Mode. The error prevents the game from initializing and appears in the IslandLayoutSerializer during the deserialization process. This issue affects players who have old Savegames from when Converter Mode (now called Manufacture Mode) existed in a different format. The Savegame cannot be loaded because the converter Savegame format is no longer supported in the current version of shapez 2.

CRASH after Dev Warning - StackOverflowException: The requested operation caused a stack overflow.
Done β€’ Priority: Highest β€’ Fix: Version 0.0.9 β€’ Resolution: Done

shapez 2 crashes with a StackOverflowException after confirming the DEV Warning on game launch, preventing the player from reaching the main menu. The crash occurs when loading a Savegame and accepting the dev warning dialog. The stack overflow is caused by infinite recursion in the ISpacePathInput connection system, specifically related to Space Belts or Space Pipes pathfinding. The error log mentions a missing serialized upgrade for Pump Booster. The issue has been marked as already fixed a...

For the frequent crashes are you using Directx12 or Vulkan?
Default settings are a lot more stable.

#

I see it now. You are running dx11

finite falcon
#

i've tried default, dx12, vulcan, and the dx11 launch option

#

dx11 seems to be the most stable but it's just happening less

also verified game files

Are you using Integrated graphics? That can cause crashing issues.

finite falcon
#

no, i have an RTX 4070Ti

yes, involving the microcode stuff

though i was using it for a while without updating

That could be a reason if it suffered any permanent damage.
Ram could also be an issue. For that I would recommend trying something called memtest86, though you could use the Windows Memory Diagnostic (just search using the start menu to get it to pop up). But its not where near as good as memtest86

#

Also you could try limiting fps and see if that reduces the crashing.

Could be permanent damage! I don't experience a lot of instability in other games though
I did the windows memory diagnostic and I think there were no problems, it just restarted my computer when I came back. I can do memtest but I doubt that's the issue
I did turn off vsync and limit my fps, those maybe helped?
I just got out of the operator license save file (got the last milestone and started a standard save) and it has only crashed once; it seems a lot more stable.
My gut tells me it's something with the save or the "gamemode", but I don't know for sure.
