[0.0.8-rc3] Crash while loading save if Steam/Game was half closed - System.NullReferenceException
Done โข Priority: High โข Fix: Version 0.0.9 โข Game: 0.0.8-rc3 โข Resolution: Won't Fix
When a player closes Steam while shapez 2 is running, then prevents Steam from shutting down the game and continues playing, attempting to load a Savegame afterward causes a System.NullReferenceException crash. The crash occurs when clicking "Continue" from the Main Menu after this Steam-closing sequence. The game becomes completely unresponsive and requires force closing. This is a Steam SDK-specific issue that cannot be fixed by the game developers. The issue is reproducible by following th...
Game crashes when (auto-)save fails ("The process cannot access the file")
Done โข Priority: Medium โข Fix: 2 - Demo โข Resolution: Done
shapez 2 crashes when an autosave or manual save fails due to a file access error (System.IO.IOException: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process). Instead of crashing, the game should display an error notification to the player indicating that saving has failed. The crash occurs during the file move operation in the save process. A localization string already exists for the save failure notification but the crash happens before it can be shown.
[Dev] Corrupted savegames can not be removed
Done โข Priority: Medium โข Fix: 2 - Demo โข Resolution: Done
When a savegame becomes corrupted, the game throws an error and does not allow the player to remove or delete it. Corrupted save files currently lack a deletion option in the game interface. The expected behavior is that the game should handle corrupted savegames gracefully without throwing errors and provide a button or option to delete them from the save file list. This prevents players from cleaning up their save file menu when corruption occurs.
Savegames Failed to Read
Done โข Priority: Highest โข Fix: Version 0.0.9 โข Resolution: Done
The game was unable to read any Savegame / Save / Save File / Save Game files in shapez 2 / Shapez 2 / shapez2 / the game. This issue prevented players from loading any of their saved progress or data. The bug was initially not reproducible by the development team, but after the affected player provided a rough reproduction scenario, the issue was identified and fixed. The bug has been verified as resolved.
Fatal error loading from 0.0.9-rc1, but loading from 0.0.8 is OK
Done โข Priority: Highest โข Fix: Version 0.0.9 โข Game: 0.0.7 โข Resolution: Done
Fatal error occurs when loading savegames created in version 0.0.8 or 0.0.9-rc1 on RC2 build. The game throws a System.IO.EndOfStreamException indicating it cannot read beyond the end of the stream when attempting to load the backup savegame file. This prevents the game from initializing and makes the savegame unloadable. The same savegames load successfully on the latest internal build. A fix was pushed by lorenzo that should resolve the compatibility issue.
Savegame does not load after restarting the game
Done โข Priority: Medium โข Fix: Future โข Resolution: Done
The Savegame does not load after restarting shapez 2. The error message indicates a corrupted or incomplete save file with the message "Cannot find central directory". Multiple Savegames appear to have been created within a short time period, which may be related to the corruption. The issue prevents players from continuing their game progress. The bug could not be reproduced later and may have been fixed in subsequent versions.
