Hello! Sorry for the vauge title. I have done my best to troubleshoot by tweaking settings and reading the troubleshooting guide, the bug reports, and looking for patterns in my crash logs. I have experienced four types of crashes.

  1. During gameplay, one of those "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" null reference unhandled exception errors. See attached Null.log

  2. At menu; No log for this one unfortunately

  3. At launch; the log isn't particularly helpful to me but I will include the crash.dmp-s

  4. During gameplay pt 2: The game half-crashes in that the screen goes black, I alt-tab out, but am unable to click anything else on any other window and the cursor icon remains the one from the game. I work around it by ctrl+shift+esc to task manager and then tabbing to the Shapez 2 process and killing it with the delete key. Sometimes the process is not even there to kill so I have to hard-reset my computer with the power button. (Or a keyboard command I don't know). This does not generate a crash log.

PS I have loved the game since EA and 1.0 has been awesome! Thanks for everything!

PPS: I ran some 3DMark benchmarks to make sure my PC itself wasnโ€™t randomly shitting the bed. All good there.

PPPS: I can include a savegame but was hesitant because it says in the guidelines โ€œa minimal savegameโ€. Mine didnโ€™t have a ton of entities right now but is maybe 15 hours old.

Space pipe: NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object

Occasional crashes while panning

The game crashes occasionally while panning the camera combined with other actions. The first crash occurred while panning and placing Conveyor Belts with a transition to Level 2. The second and third crashes happened while panning and using Area Selection to delete structures. All crashes appear to occur approximately half a second after pressing the panning Keybinding, and may be related to Certification popups being visible on screen during the crashes.

There are random crashes/freezes for some users when using directx12

Some players experience random crashes and freezes when running shapez 2 with DirectX 12. The issue occurs intermittently during normal gameplay after setting the graphics API to DirectX 12. Log analysis reveals repeated errors related to failed memory address access. Switching away from DirectX 12 reportedly prevents the crashes. I had tried verifying my files. Took a few days off and played yesterday and had more success. I will check drivers

Drivers were...eight months old. Hadn't had issues with other games but drivers that old alone is enough to make my report basically completely invalid haha

What could reduce problems would be to fps limit the game. I recommend trying 30fps and if that is ok, try 60fps.

I did 1440p and 60. CPU hits quite high temps (90s celsius lol) but I chalked that up to laptop being laptop

And it's had the bios updates to fix the microcode voltage spike issue? (or\ updated before you bought it?)

Yes it had that update at least (asus 331) but current was 333 which I just updated to

Ok. Well I recommend looking up the CPU specs and see what it's max temperature and staying stable is.
And also keep an eye on the temperature of the CPU and GPU while the game is running.
Then adjust the fps limit to see if that improves things.
