lowend Laptop does not launch on DX12 (crash)
Done โข Priority: High โข Fix: 4 - Early Access โข Resolution: Done
shapez 2 fails to launch on low-end laptops when using Direct X 12, immediately crashing with a driver internal error (DXGIERRORDRIVERINTERNALERROR) during or after the first frame. The crash appears to be a panic in the DX12 driver within Unity and cannot be fixed without a Unity engine update. Direct X 11 and Vulkan work as alternatives, though DX11 occasionally crashes when returning to the main menu or in Space View. Players can use launch options to force Vulkan or DX11 as a workaround.
There are random crashes/freezes for some users when using directx12
To Do โข Priority: Low โข Fix: None
Some players experience random crashes and freezes when running shapez 2 with DirectX 12. The issue occurs intermittently during normal gameplay after setting the graphics API to DirectX 12. Log analysis reveals repeated errors related to failed memory address access. Switching away from DirectX 12 reportedly prevents the crashes. The issue has been reported on a semi-regular basis by multiple players.

Crash when changing resolution
Done โข Priority: Medium โข Fix: 4 - Early Access โข Resolution: Won't Fix
The game crashes when changing the resolution setting in the Graphics menu. The player navigates to Settings then Graphics, selects a different resolution, and the crash occurs. The Player.log shows a D3D12 profiler error related to GPU timing and memory address resolution failures. There are also errors about the menu Savegame being below the minimum supported version. This is identified as a DirectX 12 issue that cannot be fixed by the developers.
[0.0.9-rc6] game freezes and crashes when configuring machines or text input fields
Done โข Priority: Medium โข Fix: Dimension Update [0.1.0] โข Game: 0.0.9-rc6 โข Resolution: Cannot Reproduce
The game / shapez 2 freezes and crashes when configuring Machines / Buildings or interacting with text input fields on Windows 10 Steam. The crash occurs when trying to change text on a Display / Shape Display / Signal Display, configure Wire / Logic Wire / Signal Wire Machines / Buildings, or create and name Blueprints / Saved Layouts / Templates. The issue persists even after disabling multithreaded saving and parallel rendering settings. The crash logs show symbol resolution failures in Un...
Occasional crashes while panning
To Do โข Priority: Low โข Fix: None
The game crashes occasionally while panning the camera combined with other actions. The first crash occurred while panning and placing Conveyor Belts with a transition to Level 2. The second and third crashes happened while panning and using Area Selection to delete structures. All crashes appear to occur approximately half a second after pressing the panning Keybinding, and may be related to Certification popups being visible on screen during the crashes.
idk if its usefull but here's my specifications
Hello @arctic dirge
Looking at the log file, it appears the GPU is disconnecting from the application and causing a crash. Unfortunately, when this happens on Unity, the expected follow up is a crash as Unity can't reset this connection.
The reason it's disconnecting is most likely due to a driver issue or the GPU running out of resources during gameplay. Integrated graphics shares VRAM with System Ram, and if there is any demands from textures in game, or if the system itself is needing to use the RAM, the GPU can be starved and reset. This appears most likely what is occurring here.
The system specs listed here are under the current supported hardware for the title, however, some things that might help:
- Ensuring lower resolution and graphic settings are set to Minimum.
- Disabling Shapes Previews
- Making sure any applications unnecessary are closed
That may or may not improve this issue and worth a try, but unfortunately the hardware listed is below the supported minimum spec configuration for shapez 2, and instabilities are likely.
Thank you,
Josh
