tried disabling multithreading stuff, still happens
when you zoom out far enough on the map that the background darkens and the shape filter pops up, the game crashes within seconds
this also happened before 1.0 released so it isnt really new
seen it happen on 2 different save files, once in the vanilla mode in the last pre-1.0 release, and one in the 1.0 manufacture mode, so i dont think the save file is the issue
cant really record a video of it cuz my only screen recorder rn just refuses to work, and idk what the player.log file does or what a "minimal savegame" is- π
from the little testing ive performed on my current file that is currently stuck on the conditions needed, just not moving the cursor at all after opening the file seems to sometimes stop the crash from happening, but it isnt consistent
also i suspect that theres more than 1 reason for the crash, cuz sometimes the unity crash handler thing pops up and sometimes it doesnt, and at one point the post-crash game refused to let me tab out of it, so i had to move it into another desktop (the only time ive used that windows11 feature) so that i could actually close it
sorry if i yapped too much about irrelevant stuff

Laptop Crashed on zoom out during tutorial
Done β’ Priority: Medium β’ Fix: 4 - Early Access β’ Resolution: Won't Fix
During Certification, after placing the first two Milestones and zooming out to Space View, the game crashes with a Unity error window on a low-end laptop. The crash is caused by running out of VRAM when transitioning to Space View. Reproduction is inconsistent but has occurred multiple times. This is noted as a DirectX-related issue on low-end devices, and general optimization improvements are expected to help mitigate it.
Placing a producer straight into a trashcan and then zooming out to island mode crashes game
Done β’ Priority: High β’ Fix: Update 0 - Patch 1 β’ Resolution: Done
Placing a Signal Producer directly into a Trash without using a Conveyor Belt, then zooming out to Space View causes shapez 2 to freeze and crash. The issue is reproducible every time these steps are performed. The game freezes first, then crashes completely. In some cases, the freeze can last 5-10 minutes before the game unfreezes, and severe crashes can prevent launching Task Manager, requiring a Windows restart. The issue has been verified as fixed.
Game lags when zooming out or in (transition between viewmodes)
Done β’ Priority: High β’ Fix: 4 - Early Access β’ Game: 0.0.0-alpha23 β’ Resolution: Done
The game experiences lag and freezing when transitioning between view modes (Machine View, Space Platform, and Space View) in nightly builds. The lag can extend beyond one second, during which the game appears frozen but continues processing in the background, causing the camera to jump position after the freeze ends. The issue is more pronounced when scrolling with WASD during zoom transitions. Loading savegames sometimes causes the game window to crash temporarily before recovering. Autosav...
After placing miner extensions, stuck in some kind of weird placement mode
Done β’ Priority: Medium β’ Fix: None β’ Game: 0.1.0-alpha1 β’ Resolution: Missing Feature
After placing Miner Booster on an Asteroid Miner, the player becomes stuck in an unusual Placement state where Structures cannot be placed or destroyed, though Space Platforms can still be modified. A dark visual overlay appears below zoom level 80, and Input arrows on platforms remain visible at greater distances than normal. The issue persists across Savegame reloads and game restarts. While initially triggered after placing Miner Boosters and Mini-Miners near The Vortex in a new Regular ga...
Occasional crashes while panning
To Do β’ Priority: Low β’ Fix: None
The game crashes occasionally while panning the camera combined with other actions. The first crash occurred while panning and placing Conveyor Belts with a transition to Level 2. The second and third crashes happened while panning and using Area Selection to delete structures. All crashes appear to occur approximately half a second after pressing the panning Keybinding, and may be related to Certification popups being visible on screen during the crashes.
in hindsight its probably just a duplicate of this one cuz the crash doesnt happen at all when using vulkan

[1.0.3 rc3, windows] game crashes when zooming out too far on the map
π This bug has been unlinked from our internal JIRA report SPZ2-2732. We will now have a second look at it.
although looking at task manager ~50% is being used rn so its probably closer to 8
Can you supply a log file for when it happens? (if it is reproduceable)
is it the player.log file thing
how do i get it-
oh nvm
Figured out where it is?

β Thank you for providing further information, our team will have a look again!

The log file indicates you are using the following: Intel(R) UHD Graphics.
Sorry to create confusion but the memory I was asking about was for a video card like a nvidia RTX 3070.
So it does relate to the bug report you thought that it did.
In the bios there is a setting that could allow your system to use more standard ram for the onboard graphics, I just don't know how much more it can give.
