'No straight stacker' rule can be disabled in the rules menu in Insane difficulty
Done β’ Priority: Medium β’ Fix: 1.0 Release [1.0.0] β’ Resolution: Won't Fix
The Insane scenario allows players to disable the No Stacker (Straight) rule in the game rules menu before starting. When this challenge is disabled, players can still use Stacker (Straight) machines during gameplay, but the savegame still displays as Insane difficulty on the main menu. The reporter expected this to invalidate the Insane classification. However, this is intentional design to allow players to customize difficulty modifiers according to their preferences while keeping the scena...
Insane mode won't start if the "no straight stacker" challenges option is enabled
Done β’ Priority: High β’ Fix: 1.0 Release [1.0.0] β’ Game: 1.0.0-alpha3-rc1 β’ Resolution: Fix Verified
When starting a new Insane scenario with the "no Stacker (Straight)" challenge option enabled, the game fails to load and becomes stuck on a black screen with an infinite loading spinner. The issue prevents players from entering the game and viewing The Vortex as expected. This problem occurs specifically when creating a new save file in Insane mode with this particular challenge setting activated. The issue has been fixed and verified across all difficulty settings.

Loading old insane games (100%) does load the straight stacker
Done β’ Priority: High β’ Fix: 4 - Early Access β’ Game: 0.0.0-alpha23 β’ Resolution: Done
Loading old Insane savegames from before the Stacker changes incorrectly provides access to both the Stacker and Stacker variants. When loading pre-update Insane scenario saves, players gain access to the Stacker that should be restricted by the game rule. The expected behavior is that old Insane savegames should only have the Stacker available, not the Stacker variant, as these saves are not being properly migrated to apply the correct game rule restrictions.
Layer Limit in Knowledge Panel inconsistent (5 layers on Insane)
Done β’ Priority: Low β’ Fix: 4 - Early Access β’ Resolution: Done
The Codex states that shapes can have 4 layers at most, but this is incorrect when playing the Insane scenario which allows 5 layers. The Knowledge Panel does not adjust its information based on the active scenario. Players in Insane mode see outdated or wrong information about the layer limit. The panel should dynamically show "5" instead of "4" when Insane mode is active, or include a note about the exception.
Can you clarify? I started a new insanity save and it had a straight stacker by default.
I didn't test on a new save game. I just saw straight stacker on my insane sandbox save. They shouldn't be there
β Thank you for providing further information, our team will have a look again!
Thanks for the response Marl! Is it because the old save you're using had the 'no straight stacker' challenge active?
My sandbox has no specific settings, it is just configured in insane difficulty. If my memories are good, there should be no straight stacker in insane difficulty. And actually theyβre there
Itβs not an old save game, it was created a few weeks ago, with the 1.0 alpha release
Gotcha, that makes more sense.
Insane difficulty straight stacker limitation has been removed for the 1.0 release as the limitation was a lot for new players trying the new mode. You can still add the challenge to yourself optionally in the game's settings
so... it's not a bug, it's a feature. Correct?
Correct
ok, thanks!
