Game flickers after a few minutes of running. Getting errors
Done • Priority: Medium • Fix: 4 - Early Access • Game: 0.0.0-alpha22.3 • Resolution: Duplicate
The game flickers after a few minutes of running and produces errors. The issue appears to be triggered during normal gameplay, with the player receiving errors logged in player.log. The flickering may be related to a Train Launcher connected to The Vortex, as removing it seemed to stop the problem. The player was using F9 for speed modifications and had to revert to a previous save state. This significantly disrupts gameplay by causing visual flickering and forcing the player to reload earli...
Changing Color modes and graphic settings causes fatal glitch
Done • Priority: High • Fix: 4 - Early Access • Resolution: Won't Fix
Toggling through color selections caused a slight FPS drop. Switching Graphics settings from high to minimum worked smoothly, but returning to high settings caused severe screen glitching and flickering with green artifacts. This appears to be a driver issue related to GPU running out of VRAM rather than a game bug. The issue results in a fatal glitch that makes the game unplayable until settings are adjusted or the game is restarted.
There is an obvious multi colour flickering in the main menu screen when using Vulkan on an Arc A380 graphics card
Done • Priority: Medium • Fix: 1.0.0 Release • Resolution: Fix Verified
Multi-color flickering occurs on the main menu screen when using Vulkan with an Intel Arc A380 graphics card. The issue is triggered when shadow settings are set to Off, Medium, or higher, and stops when shadows are set to Low. Switching to DX11 or DX12 also avoids the problem. The cause was traced to shader compile defines in the space station layer rendering that did not account for Vulkan, similar to a known issue with Metal. A fix was applied by adding a Vulkan case to the relevant shader...

Rare display crash condition
Done • Priority: Medium • Fix: OLD Early Access • Resolution: Won't Fix
Player experienced a rare system crash after approximately 40 minutes of playtime where all displays went dark and sound output looped. The crash required a hard PC reboot via power button. A second occurrence happened at 2.2 hours of playtime with similar symptoms but game audio continued normally. The issue appears to be system-specific as it also occurs in other games like Victoria 3. Player attempted fixes including disabling fullscreen optimizations, updating graphics drivers, and switch...
Shader settings to High/Extreme will cause severe glitch
Done • Priority: Medium • Fix: OLD Early Access • Resolution: Done
Setting Graphics / Shader quality to High or Extreme causes severe visual glitches on Mac mini M2 after alpha 7. The issue occurs when changing the shader settings in the game options menu. This results in consistent graphic rendering problems that affect game visuals. The bug is reproducible every time the Graphics settings are adjusted to High or Extreme quality levels on this hardware configuration.
Playingfield flickering
Done • Priority: Highest • Fix: 0.1 - Complete Visuals • Resolution: Done
The Space Platform / Island / Foundation / Machine Platform / Playing Field was flickering on Mac systems with Metal graphics. The issue occurred across all Antialiasing / Anti-aliasing settings and was caused by a texture lookup problem in the shader code. The flickering was specific to Metal rendering and related to how the Object shader graph node handled dynamic position fetching for Space Platform / Island layer visibility. Setting shadow quality to Low or Off temporarily fixed the issue...
If it helps I can stop the flashing by changing my refresh rate to 120hz but when I open the game again it continues
Try temporarily turning off VRR? (just a small troubleshooting test)
Where’s that
You may be experiencing VRR flicker, where if your refresh rate is unstable and jumps between a high and low refresh rate, the brightness of the screen becomes unstable and changes with the frame rate swings
It might be an OS setting, i don't remember where windows has it, google around for VRR settings.
VRR is a super common abbreviation, though everyone likes to name it something special
It’s still happening
if that helps, you might just need to lower your settings if you want it on since your laptop might just be struggling to keep consistent pace
rip
Ok
well if it's happening even when you close the game then....
It’s a me issue?
If I go to low settings it still happens but slower and on minimum is stops
sorry the meme is that you may have a hardware issue, but it's hard to say
turn on the FPS overlay so you can see if it's jumping around (steams)
Ok that fair this laptop basically has no gpu anyways
you might have to use minimum due to opengl or something
Ok
you could also make sure V-sync is on in the game's settings
On?
If I have vsync on with minimum it still happens but it’s very subtle
Weirdly if I have a lot in my view it flickers but when I’m in open space or void or whatever it doesn’t happen
Yea this sounds almost exactly like VRR flicker, heavy load causing your framerates to fluctuate. There's a lot of factors that impact how obvious it is, essentially it boils down to getting a more stable framerate if you can
Ok so pretty much stay on minimum settings
yea pretty much, or lowering your screen framerate to plain old 60fps so it isn't trying to go too hard, may be able to bump up a bit
Ok thanks
Are you using directx11? I remember something vaguely about that sort of thing happening with vulkan.
I don’t know how do I check
✅ Thank you for providing further information, our team will have a look again!
Right click on the game in the steam menu, choose properties.
This will pop up.
If it looks identical to this then you are using directx 11
It looks the same
Yeah
What about other games?
But if I increase the refresh rate it stops
fixes it completely?
I recommend trying some web searches for your laptop specifically and see if anyone else has had similar issues.
If it isn't the laptop, then see if other web searches come up which are similar.
But, for in regards to Shapez2, I don't believe the game is at fault here.
I just open the binding of Isaac it’s still there
I didn’t think so
I am sorry that its happening but for this bug report I am setting this to not a bug.
