#[SPZ2-6227] [1.0.2-rc1] cycles break shape predictions

See the screenshot and save file; the mined circles get shape predictions while the pin production does not. (It keeps reusing the same pillars for pushing the top shape out of bounds, exposing naked pins.)

I expect this will be a nofix, but I didn't find a bug report about it. At least this shows that the problem isn't entirely theoretical. (As an idea, maybe instead of trying to predict the shape from circular recipes, the game could have a way to inject predictions for later stages?)

[1.0.2-rc1] cycles break shape predictions

Predictions show wrong output
Done β€’ Priority: High β€’ Fix: Dimension Update [0.1.0] β€’ Game: 0.1.0-pre4-rc1 β€’ Resolution: Done

Shape Previews show incorrect Output on Machine Platforms / Space Platforms larger than 1x1. The predictions display multiple different Shapes that would be produced, but this does not match the actual Output. The issue was caused by a coordinate lookup problem in platforms larger than 1x1. Shape Previews used to work correctly before, so this was a regression. The bug has been fixed and predictions now display correctly.

Shape prediction triggering from inactive miners
Done β€’ Priority: High β€’ Fix: 1.0 Release [1.0.0] β€’ Resolution: Done

Mini-Miners placed on closed Extraction Spots incorrectly generate Shape Previews on connected Space Platforms. This occurs when an Asteroid Miner is placed without Miner Boosters, leaving some Extraction Spots inactive, but Mini-Miners are placed on all spots including the inactive ones. The bug manifests when these miners are connected via Conveyor Belts to a Space Platform, causing prediction indicators to appear for shapes that cannot actually be mined. The issue was resolved through pred...

Prediction of no/empty shape overriding actual shape
Done β€’ Priority: High β€’ Fix: 1.0 Release [1.0.0] β€’ Game: 0.0.1 β€’ Resolution: Cannot Reproduce

When a Mini-Miner is placed on an Asteroid Miner, the Shape Previews system incorrectly shows an empty or null shape prediction that overrides the actual shape being extracted. The third Mini-Miner from the top in the provided image demonstrates this bug, where the prediction should show all left pieces or alternate between left pieces and nothing, but instead displays an incorrect empty shape. This causes visual confusion as the preview does not match what is actually being mined. The issue ...

space belt predictions are wrong if other shapes merge "later"
Done β€’ Priority: High β€’ Fix: 1.0 Release [1.0.0] β€’ Resolution: Done

Space Belts show incorrect Shape Previews when another Conveyor Belt merges further down the line. The predictions fail to account for shapes that will merge at a later point in the transport system. This causes the preview system to display inaccurate information about what shapes will arrive at their destination. The issue was unable to be reproduced in testing and was eventually resolved by a prediction system refactoring that made the bug obsolete.

Shape preview (belts) is sometimes incorrect
Done β€’ Priority: Low β€’ Fix: 1.0 Release [1.0.0] β€’ Resolution: Done

Shape previews on conveyor belts sometimes display incorrect shapes when the source signal changes. When using a Signal Producer to feed Belt Launchers, some belts fail to update their preview even after several minutes, while others update correctly. The previews can be manually refreshed by hovering over the Belt Launcher with another structure without placing it. The issue affects any Belt Launcher, not just those connected to The Vortex. This bug has been marked as obsolete due to predict...

Shape predictions will disappear when using multiple machines on conveyor belt lines originating from the same mining platform in game.
Done β€’ Priority: Highest β€’ Fix: 1.0 Release [1.0.0] β€’ Resolution: Fix Verified

Shape Previews disappear or behave erratically when multiple processing machines (such as Cutters and Rotators) are placed on Conveyor Belt lines originating from the same mining Machine Platform. The issue is triggered as the complexity of the machine chain increases, typically appearing after 12–16 Conveyor Belts worth of processing machines are connected, and the previews may flicker or only display on earlier sections of the belt. Returning to the main menu and reloading the Savegame temp...

Hey @small raft ! Thank you for your report! Are you sure this is the right save?

@small raft I was able to self-feed the machine itself with the other belt and it ended up showing the predictions. Is it possible that the affected machine is from an old BP from an old version or the save? If so, would you remember from which version it was?

Ah, Discord. Let me do that again.

The original blueprints are from 0.1.1. There are two, one for setting up a mining platform initially in a configuration that feeds the loops, and a second one that reconfigures the belts into their final configuration for production.

I wrote about them here: https://old.reddit.com/r/shapezio/comments/1m2ek7n/2_belt_pin_making_mining_platform/ (note that there's a second version of the "activation blueprint" in a comment further down the page; that is the one I'm using).

FWIW, I recreated both of those blueprints from scratch in 1.0.2-rc1 but that didn't make any difference for me. I also tried reconfiguring the belts manually with mixed success (in the first try one of the output belts was predicted, but not the other one; in a second attempt I got no predictions at all.)

Outputs two belts of pins (spread over four belts on the bottom layer but that's easy to change). Requires mining a full shape…

Thank you for your response! It seems that I found the culprit: The belts will not show prediction when it's been fed the different pieces by itself, but if you use a different origin for the stacking it will maintain it's prediction. I'll write a report about this but it might take a while for the team to find a workaround for it. In the meantine, if you'd like to keep the prediction I'd suggest using the another shape to temporarily feed the bottom stacker and that will maintain the prediction.
