The shadows/blurring of viewing normal level platforms when looking "through" upper level platforms is not helpful. Is there a way that I dont see the transparency of the upper platforms when working below them?

Not at the moment. That's a common request, though. I submitted it as a request on the official suggestions board, more upvotes there = more likely that the dev team will address this after 1.0 releases.

Hide Space layer items instead of making them translucent when "hid...

Currently, if you are looking at a platform that is under another space-object (space belt, space pipe, platform) in Space View, the upper item is visible and translucent, even if "hide upper layers" is selected. Objects on the upper levels should be 100% removed, not made translucent, when the user has asked that they not be shown.

It's extremely unlikely to be fixed before 1.0 - they're in a "bug fixes only" state for the next few weeks.
