The move shapes and fluid longer distances quickly. That and vortex train delivery.
rails don't cost platform points, belts do
Additionally: An infinite number of space belts/pipes can be carried on a single train line. Running them through space, each one needs to be individually routed.
So I can take "6 full belts of shapes and 3 belts of fluid" at point A, put it on a single 9-car train, and unload it to 9 belts at point B, while only needing to run one line between A and B. And trains can jump: belts must go above, below, or around any obstacle. Trains can go through short obstacles.
well, probably not actually infinite (there's got to be some limit to how many wagons can pass through a section of rail per minute), but completely saturating one rail with useful shapes / paints would probably take more machinery than the game can currently handle
EFFECTIVELY infinite. More than is practical to deliver. But I probably should have said "unlimited" because it's not exactly infinite, it's just "as many as you want"
what's the difference between the two stops?
The quick stop is supposed to just let the train load or unload once and leave. Although that might not happen if the unloader is emptying too quick. The wait stop will make the train wait until it fills or empties but there is a timeout.
trains can skip through the quick stop without stopping if there's nothing to do (full wagon at a loading platform, empty wagon at an unloading platform, full unloading platform, or empty loading platform) but will always wait at the wait stop
