#Multiple Routes for trains of the same color

The Knowledge Panel has this line under Train Routing: If there isn't only one valid Train Line, trains will prioritize going forward, right or left, in that order.

I'm reading this to mean that I am supposed to be able to add seperate routes for the same colored train(s) to take. Except, using the Rail Routing brush to attempt to add the second route obviously is overwriting the existing path.

Am I misunderstanding the line in the panel? Or is there some hotkey I'm unaware of or way I'm supposed to use the tool I'm failing at to make this happen? Nevermind how "beneficial" this way of doing things actually is, I am mostly just looking at what's possible more than what's most efficient đŸ˜…

Thanks!

Ahh! I see, and ironically the underside would "look" the way I'm trying to make the topside look so that makes sense :p thank you so much!

In general, it is really meant to be a warning about merging train lines of the same color that come from two different directions - returning trains will only ever go down one of the 2 paths

Yep yep I'm already brainstorming ways that could go horribly wrong now xD

If it is a branch, returning trains will only ever go straight, if it is a T, returning trains will only ever go right

The only use I have found for it is allowing returning trains to get past a transfer station that I am in the process of adding (where I am in the process of splitting the line into 2 segments)
