#[0.1.1] Choose Next Scenario Not Allowing Selection
43 messages Β· Page 1 of 1 (latest)
This playthrough also did not save. At the end of the session I got something like "Cannot save. Is there enough storage space?" when there was definitely enough space. Also I was able to find no back-up in the Steam cloud for that, even though I had played for 5 hours at that point with several automatic back-ups showing on screen.
Thanks for reporting this issue π
I didn't have any issues.
If you do the following:
- Start the game
- From main menu click on play
- Show Folder
- Go to the shapez 2 folder.
What is in there?
Also did you try to make any blueprints and did they save?
Note the following screen, the locked ones are all selectable (Regular, hard etc)
Can you try to select any of the locked ones, start the save, and manually save and give me another player log file?

Does a save show as available to load from the play menu?

Yes
Here is my current player log file
I will do some testing. Maybe its because it was the first time you played the game ever, so there was missing information in the folder with all the save files etc.
I think you are correct
The playthrough I am doing now is not having problems with autosaves and save
That's good, sucks that you lost 5 hours though.
It was strange, but at least I kept my operator badge π
Thank you for looking into it
You are welcome. Thanks for reporting it. Hopefully I will be able to figure out the cause so other new players on linux don't have the same issue.
Same thing happened to me, Ubuntu Linux lost 4 hours of progress and couldnt save due to "not enough disc space"
It may be relevant that this was the SAME computer, different user. @sharp quiver was able to save blueprints.
Good to know π
Sorry I haven't got back to you for a bit. Had a very busy week.
Can you do the following for me?
- From the main menu select play
- Select Show folder
- For the path at the top of the screen which is something like /var/home/anthonya/.config/unity3d/tobspr Games/shapez 2/savegames/ remove savegames and press enter.
- Right click on the savegames folder and choose properties
- Select Permissions
Does it look anything like this:
Thanks for your patience - For me it looks like this:
What other options do you have other than "Create and Delete FIles"?
"List Files Only" & "Access Files"
So read only type options.
Are you only using that account when playing the game?
What's the exact version of linux that you are using? i.e. where would I download it from?
Ubuntu 25.10 https://releases.ubuntu.com/questing/
CD images for Ubuntu 25.10 (Questing Quokka)
When I get some time, I will install it and see what happens.
I have a new computer arriving next week. I will install it onto that.
Could cause problems with dual booting if I do it to my existing systems.
I always had problems with dual booting Windows. Good luck!
Websearches indicated that Windows needs to always be installed first and then Linux second.
The only issue I have had is not easily being able to change which OS was booted by default in the menu.
I always found that grub works well for this. I believe it has tools for selecting which to boot. GNU GRUB - GNU Project - Free Software Foundation (FSF) https://share.google/mTOMugsbNlHNYP4Gn
Site for GNU GRUB
I ended up googling it and figured out how to have windows be the one to boot first for my main computer, I just wish it had been configurable from within the menu itself instead of having to edit a text file.
Linux has a lot of that π
My first install of linux I completely ruined with sudoing this install and sudoing that install...
It's been nearly a month π
I have a new computer that I can put that onto π
Hooray!
Looks like its working ok for me on first playing it.
It autosaved ok within 5 minutes.
(unrelated) Ubuntu is better looking than bazzite.
Okay, please try getting out/back in after playing. It's looking like it can't be replicated.
Exiting and going back in you mean?
I did that a few times.
Alright, thank you for your diligence. I guess it was an anomaly.
You are welcome π
