someone can confirm, but I believe it only shows indicators within a certain radius of the cursor.

Not sure if this is a separate bug or part of the existing bug.
I have been told this feature was implemented as to reduce preview clutter unless they specifically want to interact with them, thus making it visible only when the pointer is close.
I remember discussing this as a bug a while back but someone must have told me the same thing so I didn't report it at the time.
