#[SPZ2-4812] [0.1.1] Consistent crash on DX12 with submenu

My game consistently crash (see the attached video, which are two consequent sessions). I believe the crash requires the following conditions:

  1. A certain progress (such as my current save). Because I've been on this save file for hours but it has only recently started to crash.
  2. DX12. It doesn't crash on DX11 or Vulkan.
  3. A popup menu. You can see in both videos that the game crashes when I open a sub-menu of the toolbar. It won't crash if I don't do anything. It crashes almost immediately if I hover over a toolbar button.

Thank you for your report @tall ingot ! πŸ˜„

Would you be willing to share the affected save with us for internal testing? πŸ™‚

I shared the entire shapez2 folder in as the zip file attached. Shouldn't that have included the save file?

The following worked for me:

  1. Turn on Directx12
  2. Make sure that the language is Simplified Chinese
  3. Set resolution to 3840x2160
  4. Turn vsync off
  5. Apply settings
  6. Restart game (just to cover all bases. It might happen without restarting)
  7. Load the save file above
  8. Move the mouse pointer down to the left beside 1 (conveyor belt) (tool bar)
  9. Move the mouse pointer over 1 into 2 (rotators) (toolbar) and back and forth a few times if it doesn't happen straight away

Thank you for the report and clarification! πŸ˜„

I've created a ticket in our internal system for further investigation. I'd recommend for now running the game on dx11 as it is the most stable version we have πŸ™‚

Thank you for your patience! πŸ™‚

According to the logs the crash seems to originate from within Unity and is out of our reach to fix. We understand that the crash might not occur in dx12 with vsync on and on dx11, so we'd recommend to stick to that.

We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause
