I'm confused as to how to make trains efficiently, because a lot of my factories are not working at least 75% of the time because the shapes and paint are not being delivered fast enough

I think it means you need to add more trains to the track

so how many wagons should i use?

in this case I think you can kind of see it as a replacement for putting multiple trains, so if you have only one train then you add wagons until the factories run at full efficiency, if you use multiple trains then you add more trains until full efficiency
