The tutorial snippet and the hotkey screen both show it as È. But "e" works just fine. But it's a bit confusing.
Since this might be related to internationalization, I'm running on windows with a country set to the Netherlands, and a langue of English(United States). Keyboard is English(Netherlands).
Quitting, setting my keyboard to English(United-States) and starting a new game, fixed the problem: the hotkey is now shown as E.
