And you can't delete platforms to bring that number down. You're forced into cheat mode to fix.
I'd suggest on import bringing that negative number up to Zero or a few hundred so the player can keep playing.

Perfect Benway. Screen is from my savegame that I also use for OL on the leaderboard. It just baffled me when I loaded that I could not do anything.

Hm any idea why the limit now is lower than what it used to be? Because we didn't really change this

One guess could be using cheat mode gave you more points that you'd normally get and then changing the cheat back to false via editing the save, or would adding new milestones affect the number?

Only thing I can think of is changing the difficulty

So did this save have cheat mode earlier?

I can't recall about mine, but my negative number was only about 250 or so.

#

Should be easy to do a quick test though....

#

If it is cheat related, we can warn folks about this possible outcome when importing older saves.

Ok, new save on xmas build, no buildings or tasks completed. Cheats.enable, then god - gives you 24.2k platform units. Importing that save into Pre-6 cuts 10k off that total, so this may account for various negative numbers on an import.
Changing Game Mode can also give you a deficit. I change the original game mode from normal to Challenge and lost about 3k platform units on an existing save.
So, two ways to get into negative numbers: Enable cheats, then import and/or change difficulty modes.
Two options at this point - we can issue a warning about the possibility of negative platform numbers and how you get there (may need cheats enabled to fix) or something in the import process can make sure a save has at least a few hundred points if it's in the negative...

are you sure it's related to cheats ? to me it feels like it's just the action of unlocking everything, no matter if legit or not

Never used cheat mode on this save. This is my first playthrough and came from 0.0.8 to 0.0.9 and then opened in 0.1.0. Did nothing special for this to happen.

#

And never changed settings on it.

#

Sorry been away for a few days and then having a cold.

#

I've got the backup folder of it and I could probably also find the 0.1.0 version if that would help.

#

I never fiddled with cheats since I don't think it's necessary. And I never opened the file in anything but the game so it's never been touched by anything else.

#

I started from scratch in 0.1.0 with a new playthrough so haven't messed with the file at all.

#

And interestingly enough. The left number in the picture is actually spot on from what I was at when I ended the game in 0.0.9 and started the experimental version.

yeah research points are stored in the save fil (contrary to platform limit) so it will persist between version changes

Interesting and good to know. I'm just trying to give as much information as I can on this. But thanks a lot for your comments and help. Appreciate it a lot.

Been thinking. I would think the 0.0.9 version is the only one needed because after loading in the save and having issues I quit the game so it never saved anything unless it does something to the save in the "import" moment of the old version save.

#

It's a lot of spaghetti and a lot of tunnels and stuff so when you remove them in 0.1.0 can this be the reason for the negative platforms since they're removed on import to 0.1.0??? Thinking out loud since this is the only thing that would be changed.
