When selecting build objects and pressing the delete button in the UI it does not remove any of the selected items. Instead it makes the objects permanent and some of them invisible.

(reloading your save fixes this issue. The invisible items become visible again and you can once again remove/build over them)

Same behaviour happens at platform scale
