I can't figure out why I can't build any more trains that work, including this one. What on earth could be the issue?

Oh, I see. At first my wagons were the wrong way. This time, it needs a wagon to move. Weird.

I'm not sure it's weird. There's no point to a train with no wagons.

I've noticed a few other weird things. I think the trains won't start moving until there's actually something to pick up, or a place to deliver too. But, the trains WILL move if there are things to pick up, EVEN if all the destination spots are currently full.

There's as much as point as there is to having filler wagons

Train kinda implies more than one piece. And filler wagons do have a use.

It's just inconsistent that you should place it and it wouldn't at minimum go anywhere

What could you do with a filler wagon you couldn't with a shape wagon?

You could have different kinds of trains on the same track. If one destination doesn't need circles, you could give that train a dummy car in the circles position.
