Issue: When renaming a blueprint folder to change case on text but the text otherwise being identical results in error (see attached). Example: Renaming blueprint folder named "fOlDeR" or "folder" to "Folder" throws said error.

Expected behavior: Renaming a folder from "fOlDeR" or "folder" to "Folder" should change folder name to "Folder" without errors.

Workaround: Doing two renames on the same folder; change the text contents. Example: Rename "fOlDeR" to "binder", and rename "binder" to "Folder".

Filesystem limitations, nothing they can do

Any other applications handling files and folders have no issues with this, including Unity itself 🙂

came to report this, will use the workaround, so thanks for that.

however, if nothing can be done to fix it, it's certainly possible to change the error popup text to be both more specific, and more helpful (like providing the workaround).

"no entry with this name already exists" is that error. Some filesystems are case-insensitive and see them the same.

Bumping this, error still exists. If the new name is just some other casing, it should just overwrite the name, not throw an error. This would not be a filesystem limitation.

Thank you for your report! 😄

I've created a ticket in our internal system for further investigation 🙂
