In attempting my first game after completing certification, I unlocked painting and the paint miner block becomes available but the paint miner extension does not. I worked around it and continued to play very hobbled. I unlocked trains and it still never unlocked the paint miner extension. I have not tried another game by doing certification again to confirm that it is only in post certification games.

It's a separate unlock in the upgrades, you have to spend points on it

I didn't have to the first time I played through. and it doesn't make sense that we get the shape miner extensions right out of the box and you're telling me that I would have to wait MULTIPLE milepost to unlock more than one single line of paint in a miner and only be able to place a SINGLE miner. That is insane.
