I don't think this is a bug, as I believe this is intended behavior.

I think it lets you know the distance at which you can set the receiver and it function. Past the black 'string' and the receiver won't receive the signal.

Yeah, but it's not like the other launcher building types do that, only this.

The launcher arrows don't stay there when you delete the receiver

Different components. This component is part of wires, not shapes/colors.
